Look at it that way. It's not illegal, but due to safety regulations nonsense it's very hard to make an RWD car due to how much internal space is being wasted, so yeah, you're legally strongarmed to make FWD cars (and as a consequence, whole world is too).

I have a modified 1984 mazda 323 1.5l. It cost me a pittance to modify. I will be adding the cost for comparison (From my currency to dollar for the general idea).

The engine produced a healthy 107KW and superb torque (can't remember the NM off the top of my head), which is excellent for a 1545cc NA FWD engine.

Long story short, cheap and fun. If it blows up, I will just buy another engine and add a supercharger. Rinse and repeat.

I don't mind at all. Pictured is the finished carb and custom manifold me and my father made together. The result was pretty phenomenal, it just took a lot of time because I worked on it in between jobs.

This was taken after I was practically done with the essentials on the second engine, all machine work done and parts fitted. Some of the machine work took a while, so I painted the block, polished all the aluminium covers and replaced every bolt with dome nuts because I enjoy the rounded look.

Finished and installed into the shitbox. About a week after this pic was taken, I installed the higher temp plugs and upgraded the bougi cords to the msd's plus a variety of things. Also the engine bay since then has been tidied up, rust completely removed and painted in a smooth stonechip (black). It was a pretty fun project because I could test out a variety of things, from performance to paint/polish on engines and it didn't cost me much.
