Stop fucking with the OP

;_;

I'm in love with the Quof.

Untranslated visual novels are NOT allowed on /vn/ or Veeky Forums

She can't be sad, she has a cat. You can't be sad if you have a cat.

Reminder that you aren't allowed to post here until you complete everything in this pic

Moege is the cancer that is slowly killing the eroge medium.

>almost 2017

>No Eustia
>No Baldr Sky
>No Subahibi
>no Rance 8/9
>no Rewrite Harvest Festa
>no Little Busters Ecstasy
>no Grisaia 2 with porn
>no Grisaia 3
>no Muramasa
>no Sumaga
>no Django
>no White Album 2
>no J.Q.V
>no Monobeno

If I told you this back in 2012/2013, would you believe me?

Reminder that 80% of that list is shit.

Maybe not Grisaia 2 or Rewrite but everything else yeah pretty much

Nobody wanted anything on that list, anyway. They are all kusoge. Read a real kamige like Fata Morgana.

The only shit on that list are Ryuukishi's parts of Rewrite.

Also you have to read through and understand all the works of at least Kant, Schopenhauer, Nietsche, Wittgenstein, Einstein, Bohr, Nabokov, Asimov, Dostojevsky, Tolstoy and all the European National Epics.

>begging for J.Q.V instead of Saihaite no Ima

For what purpose?

>mfw even Tonokawafags with shit taste shit all over R07
Good. This is how it should be. Fuck R07.

Take note, R07fags. You are at the bottom of the pecking order. No one is below you. You are the worst.

Saihate no Ima is way longer

In JP land, takahiro fags are lower

DELETE THIS
p-please don't bully, this is a bully-free general

J.Q.V could theoretically work in English if it had a good translator. Saihate no Ima is literally untranslatable.

We already know that R07 is the ultimate hack but who is the 2nd? Nasu? Urobuchi?

>wanting to read Romeo

>takahiro
Who?
Nasu.

While Urobuchi's anime projects post-Madoka do leave a lot to be desired, especially when Urobuchi's involvement is left ambiguous, his visual novels are still very good.

Urobuchi.

While Nasu's projects post-CCC do leave a lot to be desired, especially when his involvement is second to Sakurai, his visual novels are still very good.

Steins;Gate spoilers.

Guy who ruined Kouya, tricked people with Anekouji, and is leading the milking of Majikoi

Uchikoshi

Y-yeah, it was all Takahiro's fault. Our lord and savior Romeo Tanaka couldn't possibly write something that isn't good...

The writing was good, the setting and everything else was controlled by Takahiro to be bland (he actually told Romeo what kind of characters to write) which is why it was disappointing.

Is it true what they say? Romeo's prose is on par with Nabokov?

But that's consistent with most Romeo works. His prose is his only standout asset, setting/plot/characters are typically bland.

>setting/plot/characters are typically bland.
Uh... no.

Uh... yes. Cross Channel is hugely repetitive with way too much text repeated for a linear visual novel, the comedy is obnoxious in that it's largely jokes about the main character sexually assaulting the harem cast, and the art is pretty shitty too.

So this is surface level reading...

Moege and Charage is the only reason to play VNs

Hey, I remember those words. I wrote that! Why are you quoting me but passing it off as your own observations?

I mean you're not wrong...

Are there any opinions here which aren't second-hand?

There are a couple good scenes but they're outnumbered by unfunny or boring scenes 3:1. The most egregious example is a really fucking great scene where the MC drops the comedic facade and goes full sadist against one of the female cast in a scene that's legitimately quite haunting without being particularly sexual or gruesome in nature, but then immediately after it they have a run of the mill H-scene where she falls in love with him (despite being the only female cast member with the common sense to dislike him before that point).

It's probably worth reading, but unless you're a Romeodrone, it's going to be a decent VN with some awful pacing and questionable humour.

>thinking kiri fell in love with taichi
So this is surface level reading...

Diving however deep won't make the story or setting any better, the mechanics any less repetitive or the humor any funnier.

What the fuck, I wrote that too!

You can't keep getting away with this.

You'd enjoy Django a lot more than most of your pseudo-"kamiges".

trust me, I've been waiting for Django for a while now

COCK

How do I win against an argument that starts with "but Moogy said..."? It's infallible.

What's a good VN for black people to /read/

Yes, black people can read.

Done with Ikikoi and Please Bang My Wife, I feel the latter is a bit white.

Django isn't even his best untranslated VN though. vndb.org/v433

i remember someone made a post about Tsukihime's OST being a great piece of minimalism

had a hearty kek over that.

-Big Black Cock & Big Black Butt & My Sweet Wife-

Steins;Gate spoilers.

Get the fuck out with this blogshit.

Your "hearty kek" doesn't change the fact that it's true.

Why? Because I'm black?

I wanted to make a stawpoll about what ethnicity /vn/ is but realized I'm too lazy

No, because you read Ikikoi

Done that with Starless too.

I'm asking for recs though.

Someone should pay Tyrone to read out this:

>I read the entirety of Umineko as it came out and I feel like I'm being generous when I give it a 4/10. It's a convoluted mess that reads like it was written by a 12 year old. The Japanese fanbase refuses to so much as give Ryuukishi the time of the day nowadays for good reason. Honestly, I find the extent to which the western fanbase is obsessed with Umineko to this day to be frightening in a sense. I have no idea how you guys can drone on about it day after day nearly six years after the final episode was released; Ryuukishi is a hack who has no idea how to actually tell a story that does anything except continually bait the reader with red herrings and empty promises of greater themes. He's been like this since Higurashi and will never improve, either on a technical level or as a storyteller in general. Like I said, almost no Japanese fan cares about Ryuukishi nowadays, and it's more than people just being pissed off about episode 8 of Umineko (people were pissed off about Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi long before then, anyway). It's because they've had enough exposure to him to see through his tricks and stop falling for his brand of spectacle and sophistry. And yes, his terrible, childish text is part of the problem too - there are parts of Higurashi that have such embarrassingly poor writing that they're used as copypasta on 2ch.

>not the Ikikoi pasta

That reads like Moogy's elegant but poignant prose.

Nice try, but our guy Conjueror likes Umineko even better than some of Shakespeare's works.

>strawpoll.me/11763996
so a bunch of white guys and a few asians

>literally all non arguments
Why do people take this guy seriously again?

He does have a point though.

>that it's true.
except it's objectively false. i'm guessing whoever made that statement (possibly you) doesn't actually know what Minimalism means in composition. it's easy to look at the word "Minimalism" and instantly think it means "economy of material" but it isn't the case.

Minimalism is all about subtle changes over time--usually a long period of time throughout one composition (20+ minutes at least is the typical trend). typically you start off a composition with a motif, and then you repeat it, over and over again, with subtle changes/variations throughout. you do this via dynamics, polyrythms, or phrasing. take this piece by Steve Reich for example:

youtube.com/watch?v=TbC5zhFX7Kw

or perhaps Pärt's Tabula Rasa:
youtube.com/watch?v=8HON4AswPVk

the latter is more "sacred minimalism," which is basically defined as a more neo-baroque, neo-renaissance, hybrid modern polystylism. hard-line minimalism, though, uses basic tonal-blocks rarely stepping out of the basic diatonic system (ie no applied chords and very little chromaticism) and focuses primarily on dynamics and rhythm more than melody, harmony, orchestration or form.

a decent example of Minimalism in visual novels is perhaps Umemoto's work on Yu-no and Eve Burst Error:

youtube.com/watch?v=qZy7wfcPNOE
youtube.com/watch?v=LYEw66osCdQ

though arguably the compositions are a bit too short and it's lacking in subtlety. some of Fata Morgana's tracks also go into brief glimpses of miniamlism, but then again that OST is also packed with inspirations from renaissance-era compositions (Franco-Flemish school), baroque, romanticism, and dodecaphony. Tsukihime's OST doesn't really have shades of minimalism. true, it's extremely repetitive, but it offers little changes/variations throughout its works. not too mention the comps are too short anyway.

i would probably argue that, overall, the VN format doesn't lend itself very well to minimalism.

Wtf? Why is there no VN reading e-sports scene?

Nah, he really doesn't. He only makes vague statements like "Ryukishi writes like a 12 year old" without saying specific examples. He only criticizes the western fanbase for obsessing about a series he can't see the appeal of. Then he just goes on a long rant about how the japanese hated it, so it must be bad, but that isn't an argument as well. Many great works were poorly received upon initial release. Authors like Melville and Kafka died completely unrecognized. It's one thing if Moogy didn't like Umineko, but I think his irrational hatred of umineko is because he is trying to be a hipster. He is mad that a lot of people like something he doesn't like, which I kind of understand, but I really think he needs to move on desu

Why the FUCK did you respond seriously to my shitpost?

>just a prank bro
even if it was just a prank, i got to talk about compositions so it's a win for me anyway.

thanks for letting me sperg, i really appreciate it

>without saying specific examples
"刺突刺突刺突、弾く弾く弾く。臑蹴り、下腹掌打、手刀からナイフ、突く突く蹴る弾く、詰める打つ叩く斬る斬る突く突く。

Stabstabstab, dodgedodgedodge. Kick to the legs, punch to the abdomen, hands striking like a knife, stabby stabby kick dodge, close the distance and punch punch slice slice stab stab.

それが全て3秒間で行われる。
That all happened in 3 seconds.

蹴る蹴る打つ打つ突く蹴る、弾く詰める叩く突く、逃がさない刺突刺突刺突
Kick kick punch punch stab kick, dodge close the distance hit stab, inescapable stab stab stab.

もっとも攻撃力の高いナイフの攻撃だけに専念して弾くのがやっとだ
Though the attack power was higher than that of a knife, I absorbed and evaded it all

それら全て捌くことを語るのは、傘を持たずに雨の中に飛び出し、全ての雨粒を手で払おうと言い出す無謀に等しい。
It could be said that to endure all those attacks was equal in recklessness to claiming that one could leap about in the rain with no umbrella and knock aside every last raindrop."

Face it, R07 is a hack.

Honestly if you didn't tell me r07 was the writer there, I would have assumed that Nasu wrote that.

I personally like the english translations of his works, so I don't really care desu

Just imagine what a visual novel written by Shakespeare would be like... wow...

>Just imagine what a visual novel written by Shakespeare would be like... wow...
So... a visual novel translated by Conjueror?

>Just imagine what a visual novel written by Shakespeare would be like
It would be worse than Umineko, that's for sure.

The English language is absurdly superior to Japanese so of course it's gonna sound and read better, provided it's a skilled translator.

It exists and is called Dra Koi, that's what Moogy says anyway

Populist trash for plebs. Marlowe was better.

Would it be all ages?

This is the ultimate red pill.
The (((JOPs))) are trying to hide this from us.

What is the Goethe's Faust of visual novels?

In opposition to fights in Dies Irae that drag for hours (and I enjoy as hell), r07 style is to the point and won't waste time with the fights... because he doesn't need to.
Take Rose Guns Days, he didn't even bother to prose the fights because they are a fucking minigame which was more effective. All that's left to the narration is keeping the flow of the action along the plot, not the action itself.
It clearly tells about how many enemies you're fighting, the style and difficulty of the fight itself.

Saya no Uta or Dies irae

What IQ do I need to read Dies irae?
