When it comes to liberals(as in classical liberals, not American liberals) - they kinda did what Socialist-Revolutionaries did during Russian Civil War - they split-up between both sides of the conflict. Other rightwingers were mostly Franco's supporters with very few exceptions.

With liberals the problem lied that at one side - they've realised that Franco will kill Spanish democracy while Republican side won't really let them do their free market stuff.

Who would republicans get support from then, because without help of Soviets republicans would fall even faster. Republicans were from day one fighting a losing fight.
