Because there's a very wide gulf between simply being fast and being supremely well-engineered and thought-out.
The LFA is the latter.

hes an old British twat

a comedian

not an automotive specialist

Clarkson tested thousands of cars, how come he is not a specialist?

it's expensive
Veeky Forums hates expensive stuff

He's reviewed cars for over 20 years. That makes him an authority.

The problem lies in marketing and brand image more than anything. If it was a Ferrari every brand whore would be all over it. Hell Ferrari could rebadge a Hyundai Tucson and it would sell like hot cakes. Lexus however doesn't benefit from the same fan base.

Actually, is it bad? The only review I've seen for it is a 2011 Motor Trend one which said that it was twitchy and violent, but what's the consensus on this car anyways?

Lexus is a very strong brand.

The LFA isn't bad by any measure. I believe Clarkson put it like this: "It may not be the best at any one particular thing, but it's good at everything."
It doesn't have the highest top speed, most horsepower, quickest gearbox, etc. But it is towards the top of the pile in all these measures.
There's a lot of cars that excel in some areas and fail miserably in others. The LFA is fantastic at everything all at once, and that's why it's good. It doesn't get attention because it doesn't hold any records.

easy Clarkson is a dolt and anyone who thinks he is a expert is a fool

Among middle aged white women, sure, but most young people don't give a fuck about it. Lexus doesn't make a single interesting car.

I see cool kids driving RC's along California coast

RCF and IS300 (especially 2003)
Its just very expensive to own

>LFA is so bad

No one who has driven the car thinks this.

He also says all of the other lexuses are inferior to Germans, but for some reason o will only take his words for real if they agree with him.

Also
>pretending that Clarkson doesn't say that for at least 5 cars every year

for Clarkson almost ever car is the best car in the world. he would also say that some russian TVR shitbox is the best car in the world.

This. So much this.
And he loves Ferrari which triggers the neckbeards of Veeky Forums very much of course.

i'd shag his daughter desu

i see young professional indians/arabs drive the sporty lexus'
los angeles

>only take his words for real if they agree with him.

This, he said the C7 was better than the F-type. He also said some FWD Chrysler shitbox (think it was the LHS) was good quality comparable to its euro rivals. he or any other auto-journalist only become "world renowned" when they say things fanboys agree with. there are other auto journalist who have reviewed just as many cars and/or are taken just as seriously as Top Gear but they become paid shills the moment things that aren't liked are said or suggested. the appeal to authority argument is retarded if at the end of the day you yourself become the authority on who is and isn't a "paid shill" and a "renowned expert".

I'm not saying Clarkson is wrong or his words shouldn't be considered but the-
>"X car is good because Y person said so"
and
>"Y journalist is a paid shill because they said X car is bad or good"
is just inconsistent and needs to stop.

would Clarkson choose Corvette or GT-R?

Why would anyone say the LFA is bad?

Benchracers.

its basically the go to young professional car

The problem with this car really lies in what said. The car wasn't built to be the fastest. It was built to make the driver never want to get out. The engine was chosen because of the sound it made, not just for power figures. The car was built with passion much like older Alfas and Ferraris.

I'm very much the same way as Clarkson and the bunch, I don't really care all that much about which car is the fastest. I care about how a car makes me feel. The LFA is a car that makes you grin cheek to cheek everytime you drive it, it really is a car you never want to get out of. And this is why cars like the AW11 and Miata are praised, because they're just so much fun, not because they're amazing cars or really fast.

Too many car manufactures are making their cars faster at the cost of cutting out the feel of a car. And that's why new cars become boring and that's why enthusiats like us like driving AE86s. Because they just put a smile on our face, even if we're sliding around while going under the speed limit. The LFA is a super car that just makes you smile, over and over.

>If LFA is so bad, why Clarkson
Congrats you just answered your own question.

Have you seen the RC-F review?

He bashed the car in a non sense way because he was not able to drive it, he was just whining like the children he is because he didn't like the car because it didn't fit his expectations.

The RC-F is not comparable - for the philosophy of the project - to an M4 like he did, still though the RC-F is fast as the M4...but it's a piece of shit according to Cockson.

>almost 0.4 secs slower
>pulls less G than the M4
>somehow just as good

The M4 can corner better and probably feels better than the RC-F to drive.
Some people look for other things in a car beside benchracing.

I heard it's good, just overpriced. Never driven one.

Ok, the M4 could feel better to drive, nothing to say here, but with that numbers how can one say the RC-F is a total piece of crap?

It's simply dishonest, I'm surprised that Toyota didn't say anything to protest.

Millions of people who watched that review (this show is watched mostly by casual people and the petrolheads are the fewest part of the audience) now thinks that the RC-F is a bad car just because a fat english showman said so.

>just overpriced

It's not overpriced for what it is and how was made.

Lexus didn't gain money for any of the LFA they have sold.

If you think a car that costs almost $400,000 new isn't overpriced, well then congrats on being President-Elect, Mr. Trump.

On related topic - can you aware me if someone on Veeky Forums is going to stream their new shit for free?

You could get a LFA or you could get 2 Vipers and have money leftover.

me, pm me for link

That's normal for that class of car though

thats two years of saving for me and im not even that rich, just a programmer. its not much

Two Vipers isn't as special as owning one LFA.

Youre comparing your Walmart jeans to a Tom Ford era Gucci tuxedo.

>American spotted

In the rest of the world nobody gives a fuck about that piece of shit

>but with that numbers how can one say the RC-F is a total piece of crap?

Well, for starters the acceleration numbers are similar to a high trim Mustang from over a decade ago. Then there's the 4000 lb curb weight which means it doesn't stop or turn like it's competitors and sullies the driving experience. The weight is what every single review complains about.
