How does the CK2 download work from cs.run.ru? Half of these full game rars come with setup.exe and half of them are just .bins. I'm assuming I need all 8 parts but how do I use them together?

I've been trying to turn the map upside down in vicky. I've found the obvious 3 map files in map/ but there's some more in map/terrain/ which I also changed. Everything looks correct, except maybe antialiasing but I can't completely tell, but then the game crashes upon pressing play. I can't find anything in the logs
