Looking at buying something manual and sporty between the years of 1980 and 2000 for a reasonable price and less than 150,000 miles in the Spring. Looking at a lot of Fiero GTs because I really dig their aesthetic. Would also like a Civic Si hatchback or Integra but their always either riced out and/or in awful shape.

winter project is the vette i picked up in august. I have a LQ4 6.0 block going in. Nothing fancy got some PRC Stage 1 ported heads. Tick stage 3 polluter cam. Gonna probably be limited by my fuel system. Basic 42lbers and a walbro 255. Just running through a built 4l60e with a 4k FTI stall.
Just hoping for a 450-500whp all motor fun street car and should be a bit different in an old usually slow ass c4 like this.

They only appreciable benefit is medical/dental. Barracks rooms are aweful for the most part, and shared with a person you don't get to choose, no space to work on your cars, periodic sometimes unannounced check-ins by higher ups. Galley food is ok but enlisted not married lose out on BAS because of it, so you lose money if you don't eat at the DFAC every meal.

Ultimately I have a few odds and ends to do on the truck whenever I get bored. Will slowly do stuff to my trans am over winter since I'm not in a hurry. Then im done with my boat till spring when I'll start cleaning it up and making some improvements before summer hits.

Buy a h/o/me -- homes are fucking expensive around me sadly though.
Get weekend/project car - maybe a miata if they aren't price gouged to fuck when I can afford a second car

You can argue a dollar value for each of those, but it works out to more than your base pay.
I guess I got lucky, since my room is decent and I only have to share the bathroom/kitchen with my suitemate. I'm also drawing BAS in the dorms, but that's really rare. It does suck when they decide they want to drug test everyone or walk a dog through everyone's room.

Your base should have a garage for you to work on your car at, at the ones I've been to are loaded with tools and amenities. The Ft. Carson garage is my go-to spot, it's got basically any tool you could want and really knowledgeable staff.

I've done city planning, air space management, soil composition charts for some anthropology interns, I've even helped search and rescue teams find stranded persons and capsized boats. It's a pretty fucking cool job despite the boring title it carries. I get to travel a lot too so that's a bonus. So far I've been to nine countries in the last eight years.

sounds neat, I sit in an office with no windows for 10 hours a day

What do you actually do? Sounds like a network role, you have achieved the CCNA yet?

Sounds like there's a lot of us in CO, would anyone be interested in a meetup?

:/

Yea, I just need to check my schedule. I'm a workaholic personally and don't have the time sometimes, frankly there should be a large group who can show up. If i may, we used to do local car club meetups monthly basis at a coffee shop, I wouldn't mind heading out one day, I currently do the meetup.com meets often as well, but they are specialized to my hobbies

>I'm specifically in the Denver area...

Yep, my shop works on switches and routers. A lot of enterprise-level stuff.

>Sounds like a network role, you have achieved the CCNA yet?
I just got here (CO Springs) 2 months ago, military. The AF makes us complete a bunch of written "training" volumes before we can go get commercial certs or college, so I'm working on knocking those out. I'd like to have my CCNA in these next 6 months.

What does your job entail, pentesting?

>What does your job entail, pentesting?

Yea, and a lot more actually as I am a dedicated engineer at a SOC. If you can make it to a meetup, it would be pretty dank, I have plenty of certs and am working on a few others right now, trying to put the study grind on and knock out some more certs in 2017. I'm looking at doing the CCNP finally, hopefully after I finish my current cyber security certts. I actually hang out on techexams quite a bit, check out that forum

That would be awesome, I'd love to get some perspective from someone who's in the real world and not a crusty sergeant who's been in for 20 years.

Basically as long as the meetup is on a weekend or holiday, I'd be able to make it no problem.

I would be down

I agree, I love them. I found a guy looking to trade his 2002 nissan pathfinder though, and I would rather have that than my CL. With that I can have an easier time getting to the mountains to go skiing.

things got a 5 speed too.

How do you guys save for/afford cars? I get e160 a week for going to school.

if I lived in America I'd be able to buy a nice shitbox fairly easily, but here anything older than 10 years is a bitch to insure.
