I'm not sure if you can actually do this to an actual person, but I've done it with the AI on normal difficulty. You just bait the enemy cavalry with some slingers are other squishy unit and pull them back behind the hoplite line as they charge

doggos and flanking with slingers/skirms are probably what saved me
well the game launched on the third attempt and we are already doing pretty well, managed to destroy a large rebel force nearby

So I just checked and the Ottomo tercos has an upkeep of 150 and a melee attack of 12 along with 8 armor.
This is the same melee attack as a katana samurai and actually superior armor.
Added to all that tercos are armed with muskets as well.
So let me get this straight. I can actually field an entire army made up of tercos and beat the crap out of all them samurai even in melee?

I've been having great success with it, only time I've lost so far is to Red Duke and a hacker.
Except I played him perfectly, killed his Blood Knights before they did anything, dropped a Manticore on his corpse cart and crushed his beasts with concentrated ranged fire.
Then Red Duke just summons up 8 units of fresh zombies and wins anyway.

I would suggest removing hawk riders against vampires, they are useless if the enemy has any kind of flying unit
Hell, they are alreasy barely useful when the enemy has flying units, if you use them bats they become better, but they are much more expensive than bats

Before you rage at this pick, rangers do kind of suck.
You either use them for anti large or anti armor, thing is,wardancers with Spears do a better job against large units and armored units usually WIN against wildwood rangers (chaos warriors, black orcs,anything above dwarf warriors in the dwarf roster) so, why should I take this underwhelming unit over one more wardancer or two glade riders?
Waywatchers aren't shit right now, just too expensive. Hawk Riders/Great Eagle/Wildwood Rangers are the real turds of the Welf roster
