You have to keep tabs on damage done, quickly doing math in your head in the middle of the battle. You also have to memorize your item inventory, how many of something you need when shopping, calculating damage values for using the best attacks, etc. etc.

If you have to do any of these then you are not doing a speedrun, because if something has gone wrong and not according to the best luck pattern, you are playing through an unoptimal run. Also JRPG speedruns do not exist. You can't speedrun JRPGs. They are not even games.
