How do I become productive? This website has destroyed me.

I know some programming and want to create some Android games for some money, yet every time I open up Eclipse I go back to browsing Veeky Forums. This is fucking me up.

try r9k

find something you are passionate about doing.
why are u passoinate about posting on 4 chan?

you love writing?
conversation/discourse?

the attention?
the mindlessness of it?

let me play your games pls

www.chimochio.com

I have no games yet

Step 1: delete all your frog pictures.. That's it

I have too many to just delete them all

never going to make it

Edit your hosts file to black hole Veeky Forums

Good luck

it's not this website (at least i hope so)
I'm just like you, but i was like that even before forsheng.
getting distracted all the time is a fucking curse, idk what heals it.
i wish i had a slave driver whipping me everytime i stop working

Even if I get a rare day of productivity, I reward myself with some relaxation and end up watching 5 hours of anime or youtube or mindlessly browsing the internet.

I guess it's become an addiction, hard stuff to get away from, especially if you want to work on your computer and with the help of the internet, so easy to just open a new tab.

You need discipline.

Set yourself a daily to do task list. Don't make it retarded and overambitious. Realistic goals. Do that every day.

It's pretty simple DESU

your first problem is using Eclipse.
Your second problem is that you don't want to do programming. Otherwise you'd have no problem doing it even while being largely distracted. Find what you love user. Computers might not be what you're made for.

You must head east to Nepal. Somewhere along the path to Mount Everest, you will find a monastery hidden in the mountains at twilight. You will know it when you see it. Go there and seek refugee. If you have anything of value to exchange or are seen as valuable to them, they might let you in. If not, then hypothermia is quite painless

Keep trying OP.
A trick that helped me:
I will just stare at a clock/wall, repeating what I want to accomplish for the day/week/month/year.
After a while, 5-15 min, I convinced/hyped myself so I can work on my own projects.

Take it slow op, your brain will need to adapt to recognize 'working' as something good. The rewiring/reprogramming of your brain proces will take months, if not years. And everytime you fall, doing nothing for longer than a week, your brain will start to reset again.

I started trying being productive when I was 18, it took about a year to take the first steps. I'm 21 now and I'm starting to get there. But I'm far from the level I want to be.

Also a good tip is eating healthy and staying fit.

this desu

You need to rewire your brain. Everything you mention doing has been toxic to your goal of productivity. You're stuck in a loop of shit.

All those pepe pictures. Delete them
Watching 5 hours of anime? Stop it
Mindlessly browsing the internet? Don't do that.

Edit your hosts file or get a browser extension to cut that stuff out. Block all imageboards, reddit, youtube, porn tubes, and whatever else you frequent.

Now you'll have nothing to do BUT to be productive on your goals.

It all boils down to discipline. If you can't do this, then you're never going to make it like said.

I try to quit Veeky Forums. But It's my only social interaction bar my mum and some girl i met on chatou, who has never seen my face and never will.
I have little social skills, no friends and no gf. khv and until tonight, thought I was attractive. But nope. I am a 3 according to Veeky Forums

So what's the point of becoming productive if I'm ugly? Answer me that OP. Answer me. Why the hell should I go to the gym tommorow. Why should I lift? Why should I give a fuck about personal finance if I can't fuckling talk to people? LITERALLY A LONER!

Then kill yourself lmao. You want us to answer what's your purpose, how the fuck should we fucking know rofl you're literally talking to anonymous mongoloids on a Turkish knife technique forum who don't know anything about you
Kill yourself

An Hero before it gets any worse.

Make threads about your game and its process. That way you will post here AND feel a need to keep working on your game.

Same for me but going to another place without the computer kinda reset me a little. I come back and I'm still browsing the same shit but it's a little different. I can see now and I'm working on it.

>I know some programming and want to create some Android games for some money
Go for iOS instead. Nobody buys Android games so you'd be doing it for the trickle of ad revenue.

If hes a NEET, do NOT start with IOS.

First of all you need a Mac, and one within a few years. Yes you can work around this but if you get caught you lose your app, your license, and potentially any uncashed out profits.

Secondly, the license is $100 a year, versus $25 for a lifetime for Android.

Third, and this is just personal preference, Java is WAY better than Objective C.

And speaking of preference, use Unity for a game if youre a beginner. Dont do it from scratch in Eclipse.

>First of all you need a Mac, and one within a few years. Yes you can work around this but if you get caught you lose your app, your license, and potentially any uncashed out profits.
I do commercial iOS dev on a hackintosh. The thing you describe, as far as I can find, has never happened to anyone. Apple's actions show that they do not give a shit about individual users of unauthorized hardware; they only care if you're selling it.
>Secondly, the license is $100 a year, versus $25 for a lifetime for Android.
Okay? If you consider that a significant expense then I think we're not really talking about serious dev and more a hobby.
>Third, and this is just personal preference, Java is WAY better than Objective C.
Swift, which is what you want to use for anything new, is better than either.
>And speaking of preference, use Unity for a game if youre a beginner. Dont do it from scratch in Eclipse.
Depends on what you're aiming for. I can usually tell if a game was made in Unity. Unless you throw out and rewrite most of what it does for you, it feels cheap. But automatic cross platform is neat, agreed.

Thanks for the corrections, I'm just a hobbyist. From the way OP sounds though I figured the cheaper route would be better for him.

Of course, IOS would probably be better if he can actually stick to it and earn his money back.

You're going to need to focus on discipline.

2 things:

>discipline.
You need to set a task then perform to it. this is about personal performance and there's some helpers ( from behavioural psychology ) to get you on the track. Start small at first, then build your way up.

1. ask yourself "why is this a good thing" "why am i about to do this"
2. Set a timer ( forestapp.cc is literally the best for this and I advise you get it )
>10 mins is a good starting point.
3. Start with omph. I mean literally, open up your editor, crack your knuckles, and do an "explosive start" while making an oomph sound.
4. Stay on task. remember that it's only 10 mins and SOON you'll be able to watch your shitty amv.
5. Stop after 10mins, reward yourself, talk positively about what you've just done.

an interesting point to note is when you stuff up, it is more effective to reinforce positively:
>"ah dang i stuffed that up, well I'm sure I'll get it next time"
rather than
>"wow I'm a fucking moron loser frogposter"

>habit forming
Cue - "at 4pm i will do an hour's code" - something to CUE the behaviour
Behaviour - "coding, closing all other websites"
Reward - "i like chocolate."

in reality i could go at great lengths and show you plenty of resources to help but you're not going to read any of it and I'd be highly suprised if you even do anything from this post. but it is what it is. there's also points to mention about goal setting and yadda yadda

90% of the task is to simply "show up" which means to start doing it, even if you don't complete it.

Not OP but bumping this post for in the morning

>trusting what Veeky Forums says
motherfucking kek
yes please, kill yourself

Just start.
All you need to do is start, OP.

And start with something smaller. Then just follow.

Fear is the best productivity. Productive fear . Yes, take that in. What if someone invaded your home and had a gun to your head and your entire family. But all they want to do is force you to find a shit paying job and be on time to work every day and work your ass off. What if they have a network full of hit men watching you . Anytime you quit your job or show up late, or take an unnecessary sick leave , you or your family is in immediate danger.

Just an idea. If fear can get you to you to do all sort of things (as in criminal blackmail) why not use it and become hyper productive, just for a week, see where it takes you, see what changes. Imaginary fear. No real guns or anything. Fear is money , if you make it. Again, no violence intended , just a twisted way of thinking.

Nice, thx bro

il tell you what worked for me. Become a complete loser first. I'm a loser and now I can sit and program all day. I could never do that when I thought I had a future. Good lick.

Turkish knife technique forum

And I'm not blowing smoke up my ass. This trick actually worked in one of my most desperate times, where if I had given up, I would have been branded a loser and never gotten over it. I'm not talking fear of failure but pure fear. Fear will never leave you , it owns you for life. Why not use it as energy , as motivation, as discipline and most importantly as intelligence and make it useful for once our chickenshit lives.

This.

If you like something, profit from it.

Vyvanse doesn't hurt either

Working out is one of the best daily activities to force your brain to require productivity. If you stick to a schedule for a few months, no matter how small your fitness goals are, you will feel awful falling out of that pattern. And from there you'll start to come to terms with how bad laziness is for you.

Also, browse and try to constructively answer questions on Veeky Forums and /adv/, teaching others is a great way to motivate yourself, and you might learn a few things from 4chibz addiction as a result

>Now you'll have nothing to do BUT to be productive on your goals.
What would you say to anons who always find ways to get distracted, even if they cut out distractions. Sorta like Parkinson's Law, except for pointless shit.

I'm a chronically late kind of guy, so let's say I have a date, not wanting to be late I'll get ready a whole hour earlier than normal. Well guess what, I will spend that entire hour getting ready and still be 5 minutes late. Even though I eliminated distractions, I still managed to do less with my time.

So distractions aren't my problem: something deeper is:what strategies can I use to always be efficiently using my time.?

I like what this user says about "cue". That's a pretty good insight right there.

>Start with omph. I mean literally, open up your editor, crack your knuckles, and do an "explosive start" while making an oomph sound.
Never works... okay maybe 20% of the time it works for me. The rest of the time I will start with 'oomph' and then hit analysis paralysis: "fuck, what next?" stop in my tracks because either the task was larger than I thought, or because I've realized the approach was wrong: but basically it's a matter of the process becoming muddled in my head.So I come to Veeky Forums waiting for a solution to present itself, totally get off track.

I have a feeling a big part of my problem is rhythm: when you're not a NEET and you just keep doing stuff, you feel compelled to just get straight back to work rather than diddling about with random tasks of no consequence. And that's why I think the "cue" thing is great, because it's no longer about motivation, it's like a Pavlovian response to work.

...or I have ADHD.
