There's two different types of dreads

High damage active tank dreads like the moros and nah and high buffer tank lower damage dreads like the Rev and pheonix

Comparing the two high damage dreads the moros is worse than the nag in literally every Stat way. Blasters are worse than autocannons in every fashion and the autocannons get selective damage so technically they do more damage

As an explorer would any part of my income actually be affected by corp tax?

most l4 missions are easy, some are tricky, skipping burners

I don't think you could do the level 4 mission the blockade in a gnosis that's super hard core dps and tank compared to the other ones

I did, it was tricky but manageable (warped 3 times out or something)

with hardeners you get some decent resists

last time i did mission running i used tank+dps=1000 'rule of thumb' for l4s

How should a newbie get into combat?
Super newbie Omega, bought a sub after 6 days of playing after it went F2P.

I went right for mining barge, then trained drones to 5, then skilled probing/data/relic hacking, and I figured out something.

Living in hi-sec with no corp and trying to scrape pennies SUCKS ASS.

How do I get into combat? I've been a fuggin' carebear for so long, the only combat I did was the agent intro missions and the SoE arc in some shitfit Thrasher.

Mining is sucking due to alpha ventures out fucking everywhere, same for gas, same for exploration which is total shit now. Can I get COLD HARD ISK by doing combat?

PVP doesn't make ISK though. Unless you mean shooting red triangles instead of players, which is easy money.

What ships are quick and easy to train but still not shit? I prefer Minmatar but I know their ships are ass, don't really care what ship I use. I have Minmatar Cruiser to 2, and thats as far as I have any ship skill.

Step one: join a corp, get the fuck out of highsec.

Step two: exploration and/or salvage while you train for a vexor navy issue

step three: get a fit for said VNI from one of your new corp's ratters or off the forums or whatever, run anomalies, die, repeat.

I did that, joined a null sec alliance and went out on fleets 3x a day. Was pretty boring, couldn't fly anything except tackle and I'd just die instantly. Either that or we'd roam around for 1-2 hours and go home empty handed

T2 scales well from there. Cruisers are in another league for price/performance, as the above can go for 2M vs their 15-30M.

My main flown frigates are the Tristan and Imperial Navy Slicer, for range.

Versatility. It just feels good to have just the answer for the situation.
It's also kinda like larger sci-fi space ships are meant to be, larger ones carrying all means of armament instead of being specialized one trick ponies.

Thanks, I appreciate it, I can definitely buy a VNI after a night of high sec plagio mining, but it is fairly expensive for me, training would take about a day which is nothing though, so that is nice.

I like these T1 options, I did the SoE arc mainly in a Thrasher, didn't love it, but it is cheap, as you said.

I guess the best bet is to train toward the VNI, I only have 211m ISK but it's meant to be spent.
