when american companies stop designing their cars to look like transformers

and when they stop slapping on racey aero bits

americans don't know how to wind tunnel

When GM stops lowering the bar knowing the govt will bail them out.

The German meme thing is already known, but people still buy German because it's a bit more exclusive

>he thinks the Viper ACR aero isn't functional

when American cars are actually good

>when american cars are good
Yes
>german engineering "meme"
No

When America takes the reliability spot from Japan

But they are

Why are all heavy duty fleet vehicles American then? The last time I checked they get abused constantly and never miss a beat. I'm sure companies would be using Japanese trucks if they were more reliable. The average North American truck is more reliable than any German vehicle, excluding the million mile diesel taxi's that get meticulously maintained. Of course you're going to post a picture of a corvette leaking oil soooo...

Far from being bait, this is something quite reasonable I can accept. Mianly because I love the Viper and because the more experience I have with german cars the more I realize they're shit.

Although I wouldn't say american cars IN GENERAL are good. Glorious nip master race still rekts everyone, senpai.

see, this is what people don't get about american manufacturing. Consumer goods are absolute shit because people want them for absolute bottom dollar and don't care about quality. Whereas our industrial goods are fucking top notch because people actually give a fuck about them

because weebs

Except that there isn't a nip car that doesn't get beat by a American car.
>370z nismo gets beat by the focus RS and mustang/camaro
>base model gtr is getting beat by the gt350R
>gtr nismo getting beat by snek and even corvette on some tracks
All this happens while the American cars are cheaper

the ACR is an amazing machine that got fucked by production run and price point. Dodge doesnt have the marquis to charge a premium on an ultra high perfromance car.

Most people dont' even know it exists.

???

no they arent

leather>plastic

would banning america make it disappear?

what did he mean by this

someone who unironicly calls a nationality of engineering a """""""""""meme"""""""""" does not have a valid thing to say

as if where a person is from would denote the quality of their engineering

that would be the company that would control such a thing you stupid fucking retard

non Veeky Forums fag here

whats even the difference between jap/ger/murican car?

they all use same material to make engines (?) and they all work in same way, inline or V motor

Design and engineering
Japs are top tier and the Americans have surpassed shitty eurotrash because while the Germans were resting on their laurels from the 80s and 90s the Americans, specifically Ford, got their collective shit together

this.

this guy is pretty much Veeky Forums

common opinion here is
Japan>US>Europe

tbqh senpaitachi i think it's because of all the weebs. i'd like japanese cars more if the parys weren't so expensive.

HOWEVER

Even though I'm not a fan of GM, they have really stepped their game up with engines that don't have 8 cylinders, but still have no clue how to make a decent interior for mass produced cars that aren't branded Buick or Cadillac

FCA(Chrysler)s only saving graces are the RAM trucks, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and the LX cars, everything else is shit because Chrysler somehow found a worse partner than Daimler

When American cars are good and German engineering becomes a meme?

they will very soon, japs are deffinetly not the most reliable anymore

weird how most of the top reliable car companies are Japanese then

American cars are actually the worst overall

Because people that buy Japanese tend to take care of their cars (Nissan excluded). Where as American cars are usually treated as "throw away cars" because they're cheaper up front and don't have much of a resale value. The "more reliable brands" in that list are probably also driven a fuck load less than the less reliable brands.

...

>Why are all heavy duty fleet vehicles American then?
because you limit imports to your market, retard. chicken tax and 25 year law and stupid epa and crash safety shit

theres a reason all trucks are japanese in the rest of the world
dont see any f250s traversing the sahara, fucking faggot

...

...

Why are you posting a crashed e-class?

Toyota had to settle a class-action lawsuit brought on by people whose engines sludged because they never got oil changes. Walk by your average Camry or Accord and you'll see bald tires and other signs of neglect. Normies are complete morons when it comes to keeping their cars maintained.

Companies are more than welcome to buy Tundra's and Tacoma's but they buy domestic trucks because they do the same job for a lot cheaper. People here would rather drive a bigger version of something if it only costs a bit more, which is why small trucks don't sell, not the fucking chicken tax. Even with no chicken tax, big trucks would still sell better. Why get a single cheeseburger when a double is $0.50 more?

>dont see any f250s traversing the sahara

Sure about that?

Because they're ridiculously cheap for what they are.
That's only possible through financial incentives

> 6.2-liters of displacement, 11.5:1 compression, direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, active fuel management, variable displacement wet or dry-sump oil control, an advanced combustion system, and an estimated 450hp
> superchevy.com/news/ghtp-1210-gen5-inside-gms-all-new-lt1-small-block/

This will make 450 naturally aspirated hp and make it to 300k miles with just regular oil changes for maintenance-- THAT is damn good engineering.

preemptive post:

>bruh... single cam

ok... TT V6 for you. Again, 300k miles with regular oil changes.

gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/lf4/

its not good engineering at all

it makes a pathetic 450hp from a 6.2L

Displacement means dick all when it's still physically smaller than a sub 5 liter European V8. Also what is torque and reliability?

You could always throw a $1000 cam in it and make more HP than your flagship twin turbo V12's.

>Tundra's and Tacoma
they are american vehicles through and through. designed in america by america, and built in america by americans with american parts
more american than dodge/gm/ford trucks

>look at this one cherry picked image
now compare to the countless hilux and landcruisers in the fleets of the UN, isis, black niggers and sand niggers! roflmao!!

>People here would rather drive a bigger version of something if it only costs a bit more
so americans choose to spend more on a larger truck simply because its larger? thanks for confirming the small penis theories LOL

Not really. That's 72 horsepower per liter naturally aspirated. Outside of high revving small displacement motors it doesn't get much higher than that.

The day burgers start making actual good cars

Germans have proud in their work and make most of their cars in Germany

Japs have proud in their work and make most of their cars in Japan

Meanwhile americans outsource everything and make their cars in places like Mexico, even when they are made in the US, you can see the workers are fat rednecks that give 0 fucks about the vehicles they make

Also stop putting your fucking badges in foregin cars, for instance the Chevy police car is actually a re-branded Daewoo

>This will make 450 naturally aspirated hp and make it to 300k miles with just regular oil changes for maintenance
>and make it to 300k miles
umm, sorry to break it to you user...

>cam an lt1
>making more power than an s65
no

>he thinks you need a V8 for torque
the ford motor company would like to have a word with you

Why would you not buy the larger one if the price difference is negligible
Logic doesn't make sense, you're literally getting more for your money. Storage space isn't a consideration.

the thing is none of those jap cars will overheat after one lap, while all the american ones burst into flames

>now compare to the countless hilux and landcruisers in the fleets of the UN, isis, black niggers and sand niggers! roflmao!!

They all despise America, why would they want to use their trucks? Especially when they're being invaded by Americans...

I hope you realize it's pretty damn easy to get 100hp per liter out of a NA LS.....

>talking shit about americans
see
Ford uses Ecoboost not shitty V8s.

displacement kinda does matter

its not good engineering at all

why would you want a smaller and lighter truck for traversing difficult and rough terrain?
retarded americuck, you probably think a hd 3500 is fine for the job! LMAO!

then again theres a reason why the UN has such a massive fleet of toyotas and not a single piece of shit mall crawler kekk

considering america is funding the 'rebels' behind every uprising in the middle east for the last 20+ years you would think they would buy american products... but nah

Yer Beemer or VW motor will not make 100k. miles unless it is a diesel. Even then, it will smoke like hell as soon as the warrantee is up.

>Warranty Direct has studied its claims data to compile a list of the manufacturers with the most reliable engines - and Audi, BMW and Volkswagen all finished in the bottom 10 out of a total 36 makers.

>braking distance: 212 feet
wtf. isnt the distance for trucks usually like ~150 feet?

Was not aware. Thanks for not being a retarded shill

> thegarage.jalopnik.com/bmw-engines-are-gigantic-pieces-of-shit-1784684330

> my old E36 M3. It featured a US-only spec 3.2 liter straight six cylinder engine that produced around 240 horsepower. It also had a unique problem in which the nut that held the sprocket driving the oil pump would fall off.

> These engines were were plagued with connecting rod bearing failures, issues with the variable cam timing (VANOS), crankcase ventilation failures, hard starting, and their cooling systems were made of plastic and sealed, ensuring catastrophic failure where scalding hot coolant would shoot out of your engine bay, overheating your engine, at which point your head gasket would blow.

> The E60 M5's V10 will chew through its rod bearings in less than 60,000 miles and has rampant and costly SMG pump failures.

> The E92 M3 will also devour its rod bearings in short order.

> The new M3 and M4 engines have crank hub failures that take the engine out of sync and smash the valves into the pistons. They also suffer from oil cooler issues

> the E39 540i had timing chain guides made of melted jellybeans that would literally start disintegrating as soon as you even thought about the concept of an expired warranty

> The earlier inline-six cylinders featured in the 3 and 5 series cars also suffered from a brittle cooling system that would spring leaks and rupture without any advance notice

> the relatively new N20-series engines that featured four cylinders and turbochargers experienced timing chain stretching that necessitated two weeks’ downtime and a new engine.

> 7 Series, a car known for shitting its valve guide seals.

It uses giant BF goodrich KO2 offroad tires.

I thought the Caprice was a Holden.

The Corvette is a ghetto gt while the viper is a street legal race car.

> livingstingy.blogspot.com/2015/03/why-im-done-with-german-cars.html
> The idea of a Mercedes or a BMW (or a Volkswagen for that matter) going 200,000 miles is becoming harder and harder to realize. Sure, if you want to throw money at the car, you could do this - or if you got lucky. But usually what happens to expensive German Luxury cars at about 150,000 miles, is some sort of expensive and difficult engine or transmission repair, which would cost almost as much as the car is worth, to perform.

yawn

bunch of irrelevant shit that has nothing to do with what Im talking about

>livingstingy.blogspot
literally a blog where a poorfag cries about spending money, lmao

>he thinks amerishit is reliable
take a back seat to europe, thanks!

see

Cadillac is still pretty shitty the only good thing about them is performance.

Luxury makers want to make sure that their cars stay out of the hands of poor people, even when used, so they make them expensive to run after the initial lease is up. The Japs just take too much pride in their work for that.

Tell the whole story...

> tentative blame on a piece of metal debris (likely from a bad oil filter) that worked its way into the oiling system and wrecked a connecting-rod bearing,

Yeah great thanks

this is what damage control looks like

Cars that cost $100k more and get driven 1000 miles a year score better... Wow what a revelation.

Oh, what are you talking about? 40 year track record of performance and reliability, maybe?

> onallcylinders.com/2014/01/26/top-10-engines-time-1-small-block-chevrolet-gen-1-350/

actual engineering

something GM knows nothing about

theyre shit for their displacement

How is 621 HP from a 6 liter twin turbo V12 not fucking pathetic?

When they're dead and gone and nobody has cheap engine power available anymore

> Waaaa

Got an argument or facts or citations or anything? We can do this w/ Ford or Chysler V8s, too-- Cost-effective power and reliability for the masses...

> can't max-power

Current year factory race motors look a lot like production motors...

American engines are good. American cars have never been good. They only engineered wheeled sofas for their own roads and managed to stick a bunch of aerodynamic shelves on a car otherwise known as a deathwish.

> onallcylinders.com/category/the-buzz/car-culture-entertainment/top-10-engines/

Top 10 Engines of all time:

(#1): Small Block Chevrolet (Gen 1) 350
Top 10 Engines of All Time
(#2): Chrysler 426 HEMI
(#3): General Motors LS1
(#4): Ford 300 I6
(#5): Chevy 427
(#6): Chrysler 225 Slant Six
(#7): Cummins 5.9L I6 Turbo Diesel
(#8): Chevrolet 454
(#9): Ford 351 Windsor
(#10): Ford 427 SOHC

Wave the flag...

its a luxury car and it makes over 700 lb ft at 2000-4000 rpm

just a tune takes it up to 670 and 840

nope theyre not good

ancient boat anchors that are understressed to high hell have no place in a performance car

>blog by Summit Racing
>unbiased
They only wanna sell more crate engine pham.

why would you post some boomer garbage website powered by Summit lmao

and even then their own list sucks

426 HEMI sucks
454 is overrated
225 and 300 are literal boat anchors
LS1 is worse than iron equivalents
351 Windsor is worse than 351 Cleveland
427 SOHC is racing special snowflake

>351 Windsor is worse than 351 Cleveland

This is the only statement from your post that I agree with. The 351C is amazing.

damage control
stay mad that gm is unreliable shit

look at where the power is made my friend :^)
also with a tune they are over 800hp...

>Says that American cars are made to look like

>Transformers. Not the other way around.

Judging by the decals, your picture is a car of an american plumbing company that was sold in some shithole country as a used car.

When either of those become true

>look at where the power is made my friend :^)
>also with a tune they are over 800hp...

All that power will only get you to the dealership faster.

800HP from a 6l TT V12 is still unimpressive as fuck, that torque figure is still unimpressive considering the displacement and number of cylinders plus twin turbskies. A stock supercharged V8 makes that much power and TQ with a pulley swap. A twin turbo LS couldn't make that little power even on the lowest tune.

Nice engineering Germany ;)

What does the number of cylinders even have to do with it?

>have to swap out or add parts to get that much power on a LS

good engineering there

Germany doesnt need to change any parts

HP/LB > HP/CID

Also who the fuck even buys a V12 luxobarge for engine tuning? Richfags usually aren't boyracers.

so basically

you complain about the power

then you damage control when a easy way to get more is posted

gg no re 2ez

>Veeky Forums is only two people

You'd think more cylinders would give you more power, not in Europe I guess.

That engine is unreliable as fuck in stock form. """""""""""with just a tune''''''''''''''''''''''"" -ing it is only going to make it worse, plus you can kiss your warranty goodbye.

>800HP from a 6l TT V12 is still unimpressive as fuck
its an udnertuned luxury car engine you fucking mongoloid
sorry that americans cant into real engineering and instead shove literal truck engines into plastic taxis with a different badge and label it 'luxury'

>A stock supercharged V8 makes that much power and TQ with a pulley swap
nope, an lt4/ls9/lsa will not ever make 700lb-ft below 3000rpm. keep dreaming and cry more faggot

>You'd think more cylinders would give you more power
Nobody thinks that actually.

>That engine is unreliable as fuck in stock form
Youre confusing it with gm trash, the s65 engine is plenty reliable

stay absolutely butt blasted, gmcuckboy

>That engine is unreliable as fuck in stock form.

lolwat

>full blown barely legal track car with insane aero kit is slower than 3 tone luxury gand tourer
>both on ring and quarter mile
when will americucks ever learn?

I meant the Mercedes V12 was unreliable...

except it isnt?

It really isn't. There were some inbetween iterations that didn't reach the glory of the '90s M120 because they cut costs, but none of them were ever actually unreliable. The M120 in particular is so understressed that it'll pull your Benz around for hundreds of thousands of miles. Pagani have put their money on Benz blocks since their inception.
