Just bought Rome 2 on Steam sale. Should I get Rome 1 too? What about Shogun, Empire, or Attila?

It only gets an extra row of cards when you're controlling armies bigger than 20 units, something that the older games didn't have to deal with, unless you're playing on some potato resolution. If you're that triggered just untick the large armies box.

They would need to do stylized art and stuff though. That's pretty much 90 percent of the reason S2's looks hold up to some of the newer TWs.

They stripped out the siege escalation, dynamic fire, unwalled settlement, and townsfolk mechanics from Attila to Warhammer. Even if you're memeing they'll probably reuse magic spells for things like Greek fire.
