Honestly depends on what you want. If you're planning to play alone and you're brand new to the game, you can't really beat WoW. It has over a decade of content you'll be able to go through and probably have a lot of fun doing it for a few months.
I'm not a fan of the its current content though, it's all EXTREMELY time-gated (moreso than even ffxiv's weekly lockouts, since WoW has that and also other time gated shit), if you want to do current high-level and raiding content I suggest FFXIV.

I had a tank give an AST in expert a few days ago shit for giving me any Balances, demanding they all go the BLM he queued with or they were peacing. AST ends up doing it just to keep the run going, then the BLM posts the fucking parse at the end of the run because he wanted to wave his dick around about doing more DPS than me when he got all of the Balances.
That was a fun chat with the GM I got, no shame, if you're enough of a dumbfuck to post it in a random party chat you deserve everything. But seriously, FFLogs just needs to have a feature to filter out at least Balances. Dunno how the hell you would realistically do it with every single card, but it would be something.
