PS4/Vita multiplat is very common nowadays because PS4 adoption has picked up in Japan. It's more money so why not.

Several games are getting PS4 versions on a later date due to this, though the western potential is probably also a factor.

AE is 2014, back then it's probably not that clear, plus it does not have access to DR 1-2 Reload.

The team made DRV3 completely new and also available for PS4. It's probably natural to use this momentum to re-release the ones before on PS4 as well.

I mean, rehashing and ports are pretty common in Japan. It's how we get the Nep Rebirth and Atelier pluses in the first place. Or the Kiseki evos, Muramasa, all the recent classical VNs like Desire, EXP remaking their Operation series, etc etc.

The Vita is a 5 year old system that didn't do so well in the western market. Because of this there's a whole untapped audience on PS4. Gravity Rush 2 and the various "Legacy Platform" comments the PR department had to spin in 2015 probably signaled the mass exodus.

The Japanese developers have also been developing PS4 only titles for a while now with titles like Disgaea 5, Senran Kagura PBS, Cold Steel 3, and Neptunia Vii/4GO to name a few. The year lag between Japanese and Western releases have made it seem like Vita is still getting massive support.
