That is a nice picture.

I strongly believe putting the previous thread up top would make this OP perfect.

good OP, makes me want to explore it

>he's DDOSing archived.moe now

Wow. Sad.

>tfw tried literally everything and literally everything too hard

can someone explain what's the deal with unity's positioning? for some reason objects that are set to 0,0,0 end up spawning ten feet below the floor plane (which is set at 0,0,0 itself)

I think that means Unity can't find the matching .cs file on your hard drive, but it thinks theres supposed to be a component of that type on one of your game objects. If you think you have a PlayShip.cs file, make sure the filename matches the class name (so NOT public class playShip)

>he literally thought this was progress

Wow. Sad.

Let's say I want to hire an artist/musician to produce content for my project.

I've gone through different portfolios and like what I see from a number of different artists, but can't decide which one would be best for me, or I might not be certain a specific choice will produce exactly what I want.

How do I tackle this problem? Just bite the bullet and pick one with my gut? Pay all of them a portion up front and whichever produces the best result gets the full contract? I'm under the impression they won't want to put together a free on-request sample considering the scale of the project.

The origin of the object may be set poorly. Like, the origin of the object is correctly at 0,0,0, but the visual of the object is not because it's offset from its own origin.

So I gave Norm a normal jump when pressing space bar, but if up is held it charges a super jump that launches on release.

Now I find out my keyboard doesn't register up, left and space at the same time so I can't super jump to the left. Oh well, at least the code is fine

Good night /agdg/ thanks for the help and progress

PlayShip is the name of the player object, it isn't even in the code

>it's a full sail shitposting episode

I screwed up posting this incorrectly before and that thread is now overtaken by this one so again;

updated Bokube again, I'd like feedback if possible so here you go
conceptiongames.itch.io/bokube-alpha-demo

my bad, but thats still what the problem is, class name needs to match the file name

Jesus christ. Why would someone post that here?

they changed the positioning of spawned objects to something nonsensical in the last engine update so you probably have to reposition them on spawn

>but if up is held it charges a super jump that launches on release
That actually sounds more fun

Can you fuck off, dude?

I don't understand

which class and which file need to match? I went though the marble tutorial and this never happened

I hope so, I've been having a good time with it (apart from the keyboard limitations)

Reposting webm in new thread
Norm now has a chargeable super jump, and can do a slam attack in midair. I'm trying to go for a Hulk Jumping feel

Your script's filename is PlayerControl.cs
Your class in that file _must_ be called PlayerControl and nothing else.

actually this looks like it was the case--i'd moved the objects around to assemble them and forgotten to reset their individual positions to where they were in relation to 0,0,0 rather than were i had assembled them.

thanks for the fast reply.

>dude
It's a tranny.
All the more reason to ignore and report. :)

The code you pasted declares a new class named FollowMouse

but its contained inside a file named PlayerControl.cs

It needs to be inside a file named FollowMouse.cs

>people this fucking ignorant actually post in the thread

Godot user here.

Any idea how to get the collision for my KinematicBody to stop clipping through objects when the collision sphere is a smaller radius?

It works fine when the CollisionShape Sphere radius is 0.5 but if I set it to something like 0.05 it goes through the floor sometimes.

I'm also using move(Vector3) to move the player around, should I be using set_translation(Vector3) or something like that instead?

Bit more work in progress on some 3D assets. Hoping to sell some of these on asset stores to get money for a decent PC. My old i3 processor and 4 GB ram are killing me.

This is on par with "just multiply it bro" and "turn static lights on and off" levels of retardation.

Does it work if I put my older Knight model that I made into here as the main character? Or is it too detailed compared to the general aesthetics?

The camera controls are terrible, makes the game basically unplayable

>having to consider filtering a regular post because retards found their next target

Wow, how much does one sell something like that for? Can I see some of your other assets?

>"turn static lights on and off"
Oh god. I remember that one. Fucking hilarious!

Too detailed but only slightly

>checks the downloads on the demo version

>sees 0 downloads

Did you really play it user?

Ah, thank you!

Now the issue is that the mouse has to be touching it for it to work, and it moves slower than the mouse...

AND I'VE fixed it myself! the quad i was using as a background wasn't working for the ray tracer, so i replaced it with a very flat cube and now it's working!

Thanks for the help! I'll keep AGDG updated with progress over the next year. My new years resolution is to actually work on video games instead of dreaming about it. Tyrian is such a unique game, it's a shame there aren't more games like it, yet...

lol i rememember that

to think, the guy who made pic related thinks he can tell YesDevs how shit works haha

>greentexting in third person
*executes you with grorious nippon steer katana*

I renamed the class Player Control instead...

>that image
Did someone seriously post that here as if it's any good?

>Tyrian
That's a very good rolemodel you chose.

Yup

>recycle bin renamed "anime"
hahahah kill yourself

>being this defensive
>about anime
Back to /a/ with you.

Other names for a recycle bin

The Democratic Party
Obama's promises
The credibility of media
The Australian Liberal Party
The Australian Labor Party
Chances of getting Half Life 3
My ability to do anything
Hopes and Dreams of gen Y
The Economy

Delete this.

Do people actually think stuff like this is game dev? srs question

Does that mean you're not going to fix the camera or something?

>you can turn static lights on and off

Someone seriously posted this shit? lmao

>that image

Do it, and remove the regular posts from your filter one or two days later.

I certainly don't want to deal with that fucking idiot on the 31th. Anyone replying to it has nothing interesting to say so them getting chain filtered is not a loss.

>31th

You are fully freaking out right now.

small details.

How do I git gud at pixel art?

That's a big guy.

Practice fundamentals and pixel art

this.

Where is your game?

Never mind, turns out using concave collision geometry was causing the issue

I really don't know for how much user, I never sold anything online.

That was the worst demo iv ever played here. The camera was terrible. The puzzles were way too easy, and the game looks bad.

OK, i have character moment, and I have the camera moving along slowly to force the player forward.

I think that'enough to start with. my next task is to bound the mouse inside the visible screen, and then add the side hud in order to give a less horizontal game area. after that, enemies and shooting!

I hope to have a playable concept demo with some gameplay within a month, and i'll try and make monthly builds of the game to keep progress ticking along

Next year is gonna be the year of linux desktop.
Also I will make steady progress.
Next year is gonna be great!
Now for some procrastination...

meant for

This is fucking awful.

this image gave me cancer

>concave collision geometry

...

>put bokube on lower settings
>framerate is still horrible
Of fucking course. Game only for high end pc.

...

Every level only has 200k triangles and 500 batches.

What are your specs user?

>gamedev community
>Has a toaster PC.
Of fucking course. Welcome to Agdg.

Poorfags don't deserve to play my game.

Shitty labtop users dont need to play my game bokunopico

I can't play boku's game on my mom's 2001 ACER laptop, so it's shit.

My game will be playable by poorfriends eventually

>not owning 1 or more 1080 / Titan X

Take a look at these unity stats in the top right corner.

What are your specs user? These are pretty low.

gui progess, couple of mouse events going and a control and event loop system

le progress haha it works even on my machine

Why Barcelona and not Madrid? Naples and not Rome?

...

her dumbass expression and empty room are starting to bother me

This truly is horrid.

couldn't tell you to be honest, the cities are generated from openstreet maps with tilemill, it's something i'll have to play with down the line when cities get implemented

Potato don't bother your game is fine.

>it works even on my machine
Not really. This was literally your ""work"".

>literally almost 0 fps

might be able to edit the database, good eye.

>source spam and ironic replies transformed from desperate samefaggotry to le epic board culture
What went wrong?

Yikes.

Not enough janitors for Veeky Forums to stop it when it was small enough to be stopped.

Literally nothing. Just chill dude. Stop taking the internet so seriously

Who cares? Just filter the shit.

great now im nauseous

>passionate about carpentry
>find community of enthusiasts
>they are kind of weird and a bit of an asshole most of the time
>i am, too, so i feel right at home
>every so often, some of them start imitating feministbot.jpg and start flinging around feces in the workshop
>one of them tells me to just plug my ears when they do that
>buy earplugs so i can use one hand to plug my nose

I'd really like to work in a shop with a lathe not covered in poo.

Rotatedev might one day finally make me use stupid shit like post filter just to get rid of this unfunny shitposting. Did anyone report him already?

...

lmao you fucking namewhoring faggot rotate hasnt posted here in like 200 years

they must have hurt you bad for you to be so obsessed about them
