Ask any driver, any real driver.
It doesn't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning.

dude fujiwara zone lmao

It can happen.

who cares its entertaining to watch the cars vroom

What's your name again?

>gutter

Victory is a victory.
He beat them in a shitbox.

Driver must be cursed like shingu.

>almost looses to Miata until miata's spoiler falls off

>Nothing personnel bird

the tldr is to troll everyone by showing up late and using cheats and hacks to win

That's not what OP is saying. If an unforseen event throws a race in favor of one person or another, then it isn't a fair competition. The results are not an accurate assessment of the drivers' and vehicles' abilities

Keisuke
>Loses because he was too pussy to take the last corners of Akina at full speed

Nakazato
>Loses because pigfat R32

Shingo
>Loses because he hits a guard rail

Mako
>Loses because she spins out

Kenta
>Loses because he's an Veeky Forums benchracer

Ryosuke
>Loses because he gets cocky

Takumi
>Blows engine
>Doesn't count as a loss because it wasn't an """""official""""" race

Well... he was pissed because his gf was a literal whore.

>there will never be a spinoff focusing on Speed Stars, Night Kids and Impact Blue
>no faggot brothers in sight
>Nakazato will never hook up with Sayuki

sorry, sayuki only wants to /ss/ adolescent boys with 20 year old economy cars

>tfw drive 19 y.o. econobox
>tfw no sayuki

YOU NEVER HAD ME
YOU NEVER HAD YOUR CAR

also since when is GT-Apex an economy car?

bunta is 10x worse
>spoils any potential shock value in the entire series with his "predictions" 1 episode before they happen
>*spoilers* beats takumi in his debut race like it was nothing
>unexplained anime power levels even compared to everybody else
>almost always correct and practically omnipotent
what a fucking horse shit self insert from the creator
if you watch the series with bunta on mute you get a much better show

you are right but with a couple mistakes. keisuke didnt lose because he is pussy because rx7 cant physicly turn that corner at full speed so he needs to brake.
while dagumi uses gutter so he can exceed the tire grip.
you forget the most important race of your point. yellow type r civic and blue mr2.
in yellow type r theres a bird fly over so dagumi wins. i get so mad at that bullshit wtf.
at mr2 dagumi wins because 50/50 chance there will be leafs stack on the road so car will slide. and guess what. dagumi gets to be lucky one. again.

d-did I miss some episodes? I don't remember the cat thing.

Initial D isnt all that good
its cool due to the setting characters and cars
and of course the eurobeat if youre into it

I stopped giving any shit in Stage 4

its a Corolla

thats like saying a Civic Si isnt an economy car

The point of my post is that unforeseen events and honest mistakes happened in all of the races in the series. Takumi capitalized on every single one of them and won.

This is like playing Gran Turismo/Forza online and losing all your races, but claiming that "I would have won if I hadn't spun out/crashed into you at the beginning/etc." Learning to deal with these sorts of things is all part of racing, and indeed everyday driving.

The only TRULY stupid episode, IMO, was the Cappuccino battle because at the end, it came down to Takumi CHOOSING to win rather than having to surmount a difficult challenge. He was beat in the corners without question, but the fact that he doubted whether it was a "clean win" if he blew past on the straights was absolutely foolish.

>I don't know what performance models are

theyre still economy cars

they make 100-130hp and still focus on mpg

>100-130hp
No
>Focus on mpg
No

i forget if it was in the show but in the fourth stage race vs the professional driver in the ek9 (second ek9 race in that season) in the final stretch the ek9 swerves out of the way to avoid a raccoon while takumi didnt notice it at all and plows right through it
i believe the project d team said they cleaned raccoon guts out of the 86s suspension, but never told takumi about it

boy

talk about denying facts

you lust after 30 year old shitboxes dwi

>HURR DURR MUH 30 YEAR OLD ECONOMY SHITBOX IS MUH ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE
Fucking grow up kid. Your """performance""" model economy car is still focused on mpg and is still just a corolla no matter how much you deny the facts.

This is what bothers me in a lot of anime. They make an antagonist so over-powered and so well-skilled compared to the protagonist that the only way our "hero" can win is by some random fluke out, loop hole or arbitrary plot device, like the power of friendship or the character's "will" pushing through. What's a good series that doesn't do this?

initial d seasons 1 and 2

Eh, at least the Ek9 driver owned his loss instead of making excuses. Besides, he didn't even want to do the race, at least not until Takumi trolled him with the blind-spot technique. For the Ek9 guy, it wasn't about winning or losing - there was some magic to the race that gave him a charge he hadn't felt in a long time.

Of course, this is really only ever seen in animu - IRL nobody is that autistic. People like winning. Defeat is seen as embarrassing and humiliating. If you try to act that enlightened after losing in real life, people just assume you're a cuck and move on.

it would only pass as fuel-efficient in the US tho

writers probably started running out of ideas, there's really only so much that can happen normally and the ditch run gets old after the 3rd time

>draws because other driver was too sweaty and threw up after passing

>street racing has to be "fair competition"
sudoh, pls

since when does his loss not count? a lot of people just didnt know about it cause it was random and had no spectators. ryosuke uses the loss at akagi as a piece of advice later, telling takumi to focus on that feeling on losing when hes racing against the cappuchino

Why? this was a big growth opportunity for him, thats why he was told to focus on the sudoh mentality. he never had a race before where he had more hp than the other car, so he was never used to doing that

Literally Kyoichi Sudoh says it didn't count, later in the series multiple people say Takumi's never "officially" lost to anybody.

he didnt notice it because has was driving blind. make your own luck

Who cares? Ryosuke and takumi both 100% view it as a loss. takumi would never say hes undefeated, he counts getting bootyblased by bunta as a loss too. he never would have reached his potential without losing a few times, they just happened to be mostly without spectators

Keisuke > Dogumi

>GEE TEE ARU losing to a Toyota shitbox

Just the thought of this happening makes me lol

>turning your lights off and back on after sneaking up on your opponent like a cheap cunt

This was a dirty tactic

like this?

Underrated post.

1>3>2>5+final>4

4 is just a boring piece of shit, literally one good race

To me, the biggest bullshit in the series was the final race.

This fucking kid was made out to be like Takumi but better, but he's actually like Takumi but worse if you stop and think about anything.

He drives an 86, and they try to make it look like his is better than Takumi's because it's the four door kind, which was better for rallies and rally cars are supposed to be better suited to touges than circuit cars. But his car is actually worse than Takumi's because it doesn't have any of the improvements Takumi's car has. For example, the hood is the stock hood, not the lightweight carbon fiber hood Takumi has. But most importantly, it still has the stock engine. It doesn't have the high rev engine Takumi has, and it doesn't even have a turbocharger or supercharger to make up for it.

Furthermore, his driving style is absurd. They explained that he learned to drive the mountain pass by driving with his mother asleep in the passenger seat. So, he learned to drive down the mountain gently so that his mother doesn't wake up. They explain that he uses the brakes and accelerator as little as possible because hard use would wake his mother up.

So, if he can't hit the brakes hard to slow down before a turn, he has to hit them very early and more gradually to slow down. Furthermore, he can't accelerate hard out of the turn because that would also wake up his mother, so he has to hold back do it gradually. Both of these are horrible for taking corners quickly.

So, he's slower than Takumi in a straight line and slower than Takumi in corners, and he's supposed to be some sort of challenge?

The only advantage he could have had over Takumi was that he new the road better than Takumi, but this has never been an issue before and wasn't an issue in this race.

Takumi should have just blown by this kid without a problem.

there is no 4 door 86

This is why you stop at the end of third stage.

the 86 isn't just the popup 2 door hatchback. They made a range of it.

To be fair, how he "learned" and his actual execution of the race are 2 different things. His driving was incredibly smooth, so his cornering speed was probably very fast because he could just go fast in and out, while Takumi's style relies on slow in, fast out theory. Notice that the kid never heel and toes, but simply rev matches his way into turns. His course knowledge combined with years of experience means he knows down to the kmh exactly how fast he can take each turn, and he can do so without relying on anything that would upset his cornering balance and reduce his speed.

Don't forget Kai losing because of some fucking leaves.

AE86 still never had a 4 door

rekt

(check'd)
If his car wasn't midship he would have been able to save it.
Was the explanation.
I think.

Pretty much this, the snap oversteer meme got the best of Kogashiwa. Plus there's an irony to this defeat - Kai was previously in kart and motorcycle racing, so he of all people should have known to play it incredibly safe here.

B-series civics actually made 160-180 horsepower and had 8k+ redlines. Not fast by today's standards but in a light car that was pretty quick for the 90s.

the only really legit wins were pretty much only against gt-r, miata, lancer and ricer civic

and in the first two cases mostly because the drivers were fucking retards

Season 1 was by far the best of all

the Si didnt have a B16 until '99

USA got shitbox D series while the rest of the world got B16s

Its a symbolic final race that underscored takumis growth as a driver. I mean they look the same and everything its obviously it supposed to be a younger version of takumi. it highlights how much a novice takumi was despite having incredible skill, he knew nothing of tuning, engines, and had never raced anywhere else. it carried him very far, but what won him the race was his tuning, his knowledge of his high revving engine, and his experience in other races that allowed him to pop the clutch at the exact moment and roll backwards to win.

The author came up with this in a rush because he was clearly tired of the series, but you managed to even miss his obvious attempt at symbolism

don't forget how then this theory faggot acts like he knew it was going to happen all along with his process of deduction simulation

>The author came up with this in a rush because he was clearly tired of the series, but you managed to even miss his obvious attempt at symbolism
reason anime is so popular amongst their fans is because anime explains every symbol ever to the retarded fans.

someone hasnt watched much anime

haha to say nothing of the trueno vs trueno dynamic... way too obvious. all the stuff about 2 door coupe vs hatchback rally racer blah blah was just a plausible excuse for why shin would have a decently adjusted 86 in the first place

I've watched a lot of anime and they pale next to movies or books.

of all the characters why and how did they consistently fuck up keisuke so much

So, who would have won on Akina, 5th stage Ryosuke or end of 1st stage Takumi?

then you should know that plenty are shit enough to not explain a goddamn thing and make no sense

third stage was shit aside from having the best animation and the message of takumi choosing racing over a woman unlike bunta

Keisuke will always lose to the gutter if he's never seen it before and that's why Takumi is undefeated.

The different driving styles, the no brakes shit. That was just for practice. His focus wasn't the water in the cup, but the movement of his mother waking from a rough turn or jerk of his car.

The final race was good because it was Takumi final sage vs Takumi 1st stage. He's fighting what he started as, a guy who just practiced the shit out of his home course. Years of experience driving his mother every day vs years of morning tofu delivery + a few years driving experience with project D/side races.

>doesn't this shit piss you off?
One major Indy 500 driver had to quit immediately prior to the race because of strong indigestion. He had swallowed various vitamin pills and supplements prior to the race. But because he didn't space them apart with food or some other filler, they sat in a lump in his stomach and then intestines. That chemical lump then did its chemically thing and must have irritated whatever it touched due to its concentration as a large lump.

>The different driving styles, the no brakes shit. That was just for practice.
>Years of experience driving his mother every day vs years of morning tofu delivery
See, here's where you wrong.

That kid drove down the mountain with his mother in the passenger seat.

Takumi DIDN'T drive down Akina with tofu in the back of his car. He drove UPHILL with the tofu.

This means that during all those years of tofu delivery, Takumi was able to drive down Akina at full speed because there wasn't anything in his car to worry about. But the kid COULDN'T drive full speed during his years of practice because his mother was asleep in the car.

There is no reason for this kid to have any skill at driving down the mountain fast because of this. He isn't even on the same level as Takumi at the beginning of 1st stage. Takumi had years of practice going downhill as fast as he could, but this kid only had years of practice going down gently.

The other people at that mountain said no one could ever beat the kid downhill, which means there wasn't any period in which he learned how to drive downhill fast after only practicing this gentle style, because racing prior to learning how to drive downhill quickly would result in losses.. The gentle style IS how he drives downhill.

...

I said Ryosuke.

As in, when the match at the end of 1st stage comes, Ryosuke shows up with the modified FC from 5th stage as well as any racing abilities he may have gained between 1st and 5th stage.

Now this is autism

cuz the automotive industry is asleep at the wheel

...

its the top trim of an economy car
more than that it was the FR corollas swan song

>no items
>Foxbody only
>final destination
Well, he's the real protagonist after all.

You're thinking of the two door sedan. It wasn't a 4 door

>shitbox
Dagumi's AE86 stopped being a shitbox the instant it got a $10,000 Formula Atlantic engine swapped into it.

So what happened to the other r32 guy

Yes. It's why I wish Initial D ended with 3rd Stage.

GET HYDRATED, GOD HAND

Why live?

is this a video game?

GET HYDRATED, GOD HAND

You guys keep forgetting that Shinji's car is actually the car his dad drove when he was doing rally racing, but was repainted to match regular 86 colors, it wasn't even actually smooth because of all the small bumps from the rally driving.

WRYYYYYYYead the manga.
