SEM probably not actually going to happen but if/when I do a Eurotrip I'd prefer to ship my bike but haven't looked into costs.

Hey I've got an r3 and a ninja 500 with a cracked engine from a crash a few months ago, and I want to get it up and running as a secondary bike, but I'm not sure what tools I'll need or anything else.
If I bought a used engine for it, would I need any specialized tools to install it other than basic sockets?
The battery hasn't been charged or used for five months, is it safe to say I need to get another one?
Also, what can I use for a cheap engine lift, since I've read the weight needs to be relieved from the frame to be removed.
Alexander Edwards
my cast smells like ass and i miss my bike
Ayden Howard
What is cracked on the engine? Big crack?
Mason Morris
Wheres the boipucci lover? Is his honda at the dealer getting valves done again?
Josiah Murphy
This small hole on the crankcase area that spreads like an inch away.
Jacob Richardson
Cool house.
Nathaniel Carter
tear it down and have a welder patch it up.
Camden Thomas
ThisOr jb weld her up if you dont give a fuck, my dad patched a crack in the block of his camaro with jb weld when he was younger
John Jones
Yes it is. They installed a cat door in cabinets. I was fairly entertained.
Thomas Clark

anyone coming to bike week in daytona this year? i work at the cycle gear across the street from the race track where most of the events occur and usually most Thursdays of big events we hold our own stuff there, would be nice to meet some /dbt/ers and do our usual "slow speed races" against each other :^)
Ian Rivera
>Have a welder patch it up
I'm a welder and I'm going to have to say fuck that. If this was some rare or hard to find motor, then maybe it would be worth it. It's not though. It's a fucking ninja 500. Buy a block off ebay and call it a day.
There'd be so much weld prep and grinding and you'd have to worry about warping the case at the seam where the two halves meet. you'd spend more on labor than you would on another case.
Also read this for more info on splitting the cases
how much prep is needed for that? ive seen more than a few tig jobs on cast aluminum that were far more daunting than that and they went smooth. this is also coming from someone who doesnt tig weld at all and hates dealing with aluminum. hell trolley got his triple welded up, not sure on cost though
Eli Nguyen
I was thinking about doing this, is a crank case replaceable or is it something that needs to be paired with an engine, like pistons and cylinders?
Cooper Watson
in a jap bike theyre interchangeable. ktm had a stint where you couldnt just get new parts and expect them to fit
Christian Thomas
No I wish. They're sexy welds though.
Cooper King
Very thorough degreasing and wipe it down with acetone. You can't run a nice bead over oil. Then you would put a piece of aluminum in to act as a filler and run a bead fusing the filler to the case. Grind it down flush and fill in any dips. It's not too difficult, but you're going to have to pay a good welder $100+ to do it which doesn't really make sense when you just buy used cases on ebay for $40-60
Bentley Russell
I've known this feel more than once.
Owen Cooper
Wait, really? I can just buy that $50ish case part and swap it out?
Thank you, based kawasaki! I was ready to spend like $500+ on engine and tools to swap.
Carson Williams
So been riding a ninja 300 (inb4 meme bike) for a couple of years and want to upgrade. Am looking at either getting a R6, a ZX-6r 636 or a GSX-R750. Thoughts? Would be new bikes (2017). Also no litre bikes cuz am poorfag.
Connor Adams
>Would be new bikes y tho
Austin Martin
Feelsbad
They're pretty much all the same at this point, go sit on em and see what feels best.
Jordan Perez
between the zx-6r and gsx-r750 imo.
The zx-6r has my favourite ergonomics of those mentioned, the gsx-r750 is more compact but still quite comfortable, I'd get the 750 personally.
Luke Jackson
>new bikes Idk, cuz I've only ever had used shit and feel like buying a new bike. I know a lot of people seem to advise against doing it as they are more expensive and people say that u change bike every couple of years. But desu, I don't get bored etc of stuff I like so don't really see myself changing bikes regularly.
Tbh I was unsure about the 750 not having TC like the other two. Maybe I'm just being a noob but I was a bit unsure about whether or not it really makes that much of a difference.
Also I like the sound bikes make which have a high redline. Hence the R6 and the zx-6r. Oh and yeah, I haven't sat on any of them yet/taken them for a test ride. So will definitely have to do that.
just ride them and choose the one you like the most.
Jackson Rogers
Ima be going again
Brandon Butler
>Idk, cuz I've only ever had used shit and feel like buying a new bike
IKTF. I hate dealing with other peoples ghetto rigged shit so bought my last bike new. You'd better be prepared to love your baiku forever and ever, because depreciation is a bitch and you will lose your ass on it.
Also check with the insurance man before you pull the trigger. Full coverage insurance on a new supersport bike is fucking expensive. Especially if you're under 25 and/or have tickets. It would suck if you bought a shiny new bike, then couldn't afford to insure it. I've heard of some people paying $1000+ a month for one.
Easton Davis
Holy fuck that sound is pure sex
>IKTF. I hate dealing with other peoples ghetto rigged shit This is exactly how I feel. You never know what other people have done to the bike, how they broke it in etc. Also, I don't care about depreciation as my enjoyment of the bike > any depreciation cost.
>check with the insurance man I will. This is legit why I don't want to get a litre bike. As they are in a league of their own when it comes to insurance even compared to 600cc bikes.
William Anderson
This is genuinely heartwarming.
Kevin Martinez
This, new bikes are forever bikes. I bought my 300 new and with the amount of money i have sunk into the thing over the last 8 years it simply is not worth selling and never will be.
Eli Martinez
So I fell for the meme and bought aftermarket mirrors with integrated indicators and got the H Y P E R F L A SH problem But I cannot for the life of me find any relay online that will suit my bike
Tl;dr, where the fuck do I buy a flasher relay for a CBR300R ?
Nathaniel Walker
>he runs regular fuel in his bike It's not a lawn mower m8
Adrian Ross
try some naked bikes and such they are a lot better for the street
Logan Martin
Doesnt dbt get butt hurt by wind on naked bikes because they are all little women without an ounce of muscle on their bodies?
Anthony Watson
procycle.com get the LED compatible flasher or go to any autoshop and get a solid state flasher relay
Austin Barnes
as a fat guy i like naked/DS bikes since i can just lay into the wind at speed
Ryder Sanchez
>got out of work at 2am this morning >thought I opened this morning so I showed up at 10:30 >turns out I wasn't in until 4 >firer caught fire and drowned itself in fire suppression solution >got called in at 3:30 >sent home at 6:30 two hours early >called back in at 7:15 for a big rush >rush over by the time I get there >took two more deliveries over the course of the two hours I was there >go home at 9 >girl who wanted to fug flaked >raining out so can't ride >now drunk as a skunk >might order some animu stickers for the ditch rider R3
/blog
So how was your day, /dbt/?
Brandon Wilson
>firer caught fire and drowned itself in fire i kekd
Turns out the exhaust fan failed and it over heated itself to the point of ignition. Didn't help that the first order of the day was four 48 wing orders some fat lady wanted.
Joseph Nguyen
why you lying? >20161001_171953943.jpg
Lucas Hughes
Oh shit you drive the same car as me.
Jordan Harris
Im not though thats just a broken oil filter cover when I had to fix the klx 300. I did it on my fart machine.
Ayden White
Got bored, made a phat bike in geets. Too bad all the cowls look like ass.
Noah Phillips
Shit son, mine's a five speed too.
Joshua Martin
I'd buy the front and rear blinkers + wiring of the ninja 500 off you for like $50 if they're intact
If not ex500 blocks are el cheapo and pretty easy to take out/install if you block off the PAIR system and don't have heated carbs
Luke Sanchez
GTA bikes are ass, I can't stand them.
Daniel Jackson
set the lap record at the local gokart track. other than that pretty average sunday.
Asher Jackson

How can I make my carb'd bike more crackly and fun on shifts? I tried upping the idle but this didn't quite get it there.
Caleb Peterson
>tfw just ordered a mirror'd visor and $25 worth of /osg/ stickers to shit my bike up with.
Gonna make my own shitpost livery lads.
Gabriel Long
what lol?
David Sanders
Pretty ok. At work until the 25th so just chillaxing. Buddy got pic related today. I think ima buy him one of those gay leather vest now with the Indian head on it
Justin Anderson
Crackle ect is caused by unburnt fuel ending up past the engine in the exhaust. Without a turbo you will need to cut ignition in some form to allow the fuel to skip, increasing the idle may help but really isn't going to do much
