Why do people prefer Devilstrand rather than Cotton Plant?

You acquire a kidney (left or right, doesn't matter), either by buying from a trader or harvesting from a prisoner or colonist. You then install the kidney in place of the lost one.

Surgery is still extremely RNG, so ensure that you have glitterwood meds, a hospital bed, and a decent doctor or you'll risk damaging the patient and losing the kidney.

Well if there's a chance he'd literally die then I guess he'll have to deal with a missing kidney for now.

There was a big support for the new OP.

If a surgery fails it'll add lots of wounds on the patient's body. This is only really a problem if the pawn was wounded to begin with, in which case you risk losing limbs. Technically there is a chance that you kill them outright from full health, or you damage their organs permanently, but it's pretty slight.

In my opinion, leaving a colonist with just one kidney is the bigger risk; your blood filtration is severely hampered, and if the pawn gets hit with a disease he'll have a really hard time accruing enough immunity to survive.

Your choice.

Fibrous mechanites is a net gain. You get manipulation for some pain, which is fair enough in my opinion.

No, you gain it slowly over time. It's perfectly possible to survive a disease with no treatment whatsoever.

the thing is with both it's +40% pain which results in them always near major mental breaks from pain, 170% tiredness which means they sleep almost double the other colonists, and 200% hunger which means they eat twice as much as other colonists.

they're rendered literally worthless.

Install a painstopper, problem solved.

Tiredness is countered by having good quality beds, and the increased hunger is a minor inconvenience.

sleeping reduces productivity, eating reduces productivity. when they have to do both nearly twice as much as other colonists while mental breaking they might as well just be dead.

And if they get hurt, they get back up faster due to increased blood pumping. You're just not very good at the game.

In DF you're doing things on a massive scale with lots of manpower fairly quickly. Everything in RW is just so small and slow. It doesn't have that snowball effect of DF where you just keep growing and growing and growing. In RW you go from "small colony" to "slightly bigger, slightly more advanced colony." I know that Rimworld is in alpha, beta, early access, whatever, but it still just feels kinda hollow sometimes.
I guess that's why we have mods, though.

You have to remember that "Alpha" means basically nothing nowadays and it's all about how long the developers want to support the game.

The game could get to A18 and then he could release it as "1.0" or some shit and people would accept it. Steam Early Access has lowered everyone's standards.

I'm sure we'll get more updates than that, but seeing how we still have the original terrible art style, I don't think the game is going to get much more advanced.

No, it is a net increase in your manipulation. +20% per limb, IIRC. The extra damage is just a cherry on top.

Scyther blades are the augment that reduce manipulation.

I doubt he will, it's reasonably popular and he has been fairly consistent with alpha updates. Modders would finish the game anyways, I think.

That's a very commendable goal. They're pretty expensive and rare though, and if you fuck up a surgery you lose the bionic.

The only downside I can think of is all the hits on the arm regardless of location get applied on the main arm, effectively reducing the hitpoints of the whole limb. But cases where you'd take enough damage to lose it are pretty rare.

Keep tabs on who needs treatment and you'll be fine. With good meds and a good doc it's nothing to worry about.

Consider getting Penoxycyline. It's like a meme-drug. Pretty much trivializes most illnesses.
