Y'know, Underfell kind of has some neat ideas behind it, even when taken seriously. I like fanworks that increase the tension and add conflict to the original story.

I wish it was executed better more often.

30-something pages and it's pretty neat, mixes some lighthearted moments with tense shit, pic related, including alphys channeling gendo ikari near the end. contains most major boss fights and a couple extras (edgy monster kid, evil businessman temmie)

unfortunately, it only goes right up to the asgore fight, so no actual asgore fight, no alpha flowey, or hyperlife asriel and no sight of chara

You'll be fine, UF is pretty open to various ideas. I tend to run with them acting a bit more like cartoon villains or the Addams Family, and the actual dark things are hidden, but pretty much any interpretation can be good, so long as you put effort into it.

And as for the other UF game, the ECHOES one, the demo turned out to be some hot garbage, so you're pretty good to go full sail ahead.

Underfell (when not strictly comedic) that is well executed should, in my opinion:
>Not focus on the skeletons to the detriment of anything else
>Make things harder for the protagonist than they were in the game, without making the protagonist less proactive.
>Go for moral ambiguity rather than making the characters evil eg try to explain why monster society is more aggressive than it is in game.
>Make the story and characterisation the focus, rather the edgy character designs and the angst.

There's probably more points, but you get the idea.

So, how did Perseverence die? You'd expect someone with that trait to be completely invincible, or at least more than a dude whose power comes from a fucking pun.

For me it felt like...
Like the rest of the game was just a setup for a horror game.
Omega flowey didn't look that disgusting for me, but the implications of that fight (and neutral ending) were just mind blowing.

I remember that right after that i wrote like two pages long interpretation of that fight just to send it to one friend.
After pacifist ending it turned out to be completely fucking wrong, but still - i won't forget that experience.

Its...interesting? Its really old and its a cult classic for a reason but yeah I enjoyed it. Only iffy thing is that season 2 is kind of shit until the end at which point it ends on a cliffhanger but they're making a 3rd season soonish (literally 25 ish years later but whatever)
