Thank you for removing the old links!

Aloof is pretty great you know.

Cadet would like to take this time to talk about one of her clubmates who works very hard Manly! She is very cute and gives her all to her lover and to events she cares a lot about! (She likes eating too so be sure to take her to nice food places!)

...

it's not "purposefully making it more difficult" if it's a 100% handholding guide.
I'm against removing the manual install links because it's catering to people who don't contribute anything to the general. I'm also against helping people who don't read the FAQ because it really makes us a tech-support general.
No-install should be recommended in the OP over the manual install but both options should be present. Add a little "Yes it works this time" for returning people who remember the previous attempt.
>removing the guides and FAQ
jesus christ, make a new OP

Why is the neo-aa2g is so keen on making everything retard-friendly? They don't contribute anything, complain when something doesn't work and don't help out with tech-support.

Also, I want to apologize to the user who wrote the old installation guide along with the pictures. I appreciate the effort you went through in making it, and I first began this game using it, but it's over 2 years old at this point and is really inconvenient if it's not kept up to date, especially since the best installation method has changed

Does he still post here? If so, is there any chance he could just update it? A lot of the FAQ in it is still relevant, it's just the installation portion that is outdated.

If it makes you feel any better I was highly considering adding your fix but I ended up not because I wanted to keep it simple and narrow down the ways I could mess up the whole thing

>It's probably because no one wants to change the OP since it's been like that forever and nobody reads it except new people
We updated the OP like 4 threads ago. I personally still use the manual install so I didnt have a problem with it still being in the OP. I still suggested people get the preinstall though. I think this new OP still needs the links to the FAQ though

By the way I sniffed out you guys trying to end the thread while I was asleep but you are going to have to try better than that because I am always on high alert. My body will wake me up before the thread ends I am all seeing all knowing

the vast majority of users who install aa2 according to either method in the op never post in the thread or even think to do so. they install it and immediately go back to /v/ or wherever they came from.

This is what I don't understand.

You hate "retards" so much that you wish they wouldn't post here.
So why do you want to keep things complicated? All that does is get them to ask more questions.

If we had a super-guide that 100% never caused problems, then they would never bother us. Yet you insist on making it so that people do come asking for help. You want them gone? Let them have the game and leave. That way, they'll never bother you. Everyone is happy.

I agree that the FAQ portion should be kept, as I said above. Maybe just cut that part into a separate pastebin and put it back into the OP. Assuming the guy who wrote that guide is still around.

Didn't notice faq is missing.

FAQ Image (READ BEFORE ASKING): i.imgur.com/FaWIWLn.jpg

Yeah, sorry. I accidently removed it while removing the (embed) text on it.

itt: we receive many tech support questions that are answered in the faq

But I thought people never read the OP?

and that's fine by me. I'm not expecting every user installing aa2 to become a part of this autistic community.
having a couple more links is not keeping things complicated but keeping things informational. If you want to retard-proof something - flood them with relevant info instead of going to their home, installing things on their computer while giving them handjobs the whole way.
The only reason to remove something from the OP - the first source of info for newcomers - is when it becomes obsolete/outdated. the guide needed an update, yes, but it still served its purpose which is helping people figure out how to make this piece of nippon genius work.
>You want them gone? Let them have the game and leave. That way, they'll never bother you. Everyone is happy.
I don't see how removing guides and faq helps with that.

Plenty of people do but you dont know about it because after they install the game, run into a problem and look for a fix they read the FAQ then have it answered and leave. If they run into a problem thats not answered anywhere they are naturally going to ask in the thread which is completely fair. More info so the OP is at post limit is good, it should be full of info like says. If you arent going to replace the info in the old OP with updated relevant info then leave it they way it is.

Removing the FAQ was an accident, as stated above.

All I intended to remove was the following links:
Manual Install: sukebei.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=481633
Manual Install for All Updates: sukebei.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=1189198
Installation Guide (Manual Install): pastebin.com/YCrkrDh2 (embed)
Supplement to the Install Guide, with Pictures: imgur.com/a/KZYsw

The reason for this is stated in the previous thread, but I'll write a tl;dr here:

The manual installation should never be done. Ever.
If you can list a single benefit to doing it manually by following the installation guide linked, then please let me know.

It takes longer, causes more issues, and is a huge source of tech-support questions.

Again, removing the FAQ was an accident.
Aside from that, what do you think we should update it with?

the FAQ image being removed was a mistake. the install guide is most certainly obsolete other than it's own FAQ and a few other tidbits which I hope is being added to a new pastebin.
mentioning that a preinstall is no longer a horrible idea somewhere is also a good idea, as I believe you mentioned earlier.

Reposting from old thread the SVIICC up to date and working without problems until proven otherwise. Its 3D Pubes only for now but I guess I could update 2D and censored (I don't know if anyone besides cuck uses censored) if its something people want. It now has all the same clothes as the HEXA CC. If you see any problems let me know because I am still paranoid that something might not be working properly even though I have checked every body and every outfit myself. let's say I'm a tech-savvy newfag and would like to play this game. First I'd try to do everything myself because I installed scores of eroge before. Naturally I hit the wall of Illusion bullshit. So i check the thread and look for some kind of FAQ or installation instructions in case i missed something or there's some particular quirk to installing it (and there are a few). Now all I see is some pleb version that probably contains viruses (I know it doesn't but it's a good idea to assume such if you're new), pastebin with mods for a game I haven't installed yet and Modder's Reference Guide(which should be Modding reference Guide desu) which doesn't help me in the slightest because of all the guides it has there's no installation guide.

Again I'm not content with the current installation guide but I'm perfectly fine with it still being there, same with the manual installation links. the solution would be to polish the guides instead of removing them because they scare underage kids.

If you can't read the OP and guides before asking, then I'm sorry but we can't be friends.

For the user who wrote the old pastebin:

I think an appropriate, and simple update would be:
Remove any references to the wizzard.
Modify the section [gui01] to reference the preinstall. This section could honestly just be 1 line, a link to the pre-install.
Delete the entire wiz03 section.

We probably should have done this before removing the link, but I have no idea if that user is still here. If not, I can clone it and do it myself.

>If not, I can clone it and do it myself.
he did appear a few times (the last time was when he added AA2Install) but he's actually anonymous so you can't tell if he's around. Just clone the thing and link the original somewhere at the bottom in case someone wants that legacy info if you're willing to put in the work.

A tech savvy newfag who had installed loads of eroge would actually take the path of least resistance, the preinstall. No tech savvy person in their right mind would purposely go out of their way to make the whole process harder on themselves.
I do think that legacy links should be preserved somewhere.

Living it correctly.

he should but some people are autistic this way which is preferable to being illiterate. Maybe he's an hgg regular who remembers pre-installs being frowned upon? Honestly if I didn't do the manual way I wouldn't be here now and just stick to HF patch because "lol who cares? it's just a fap game"

But not everyone gets the game from here. I bet many people find it on sukebei (Since it has 500,000 downloads there) and if they run into a problem they might check hgg/aa2g if there are any solutions. Most people would not download an entire game then download it again in a different form, they would much prefer having info about their manual install

>First I'd try to do everything myself because I installed scores of eroge before
I don't think any "tech-savvy" person wants to test his metal by installing a porn game. He probably wants to install it and get to fapping/modding/whatever

> Now all I see is some pleb version that probably contains viruses (I know it doesn't but it's a good idea to assume such if you're new)
This is ridiculous. You can apply this to any link on the pastebin. Is this a tech-savvy person, or a uneducated parent who wouldn't even know how viruses work?

That scenario is complete nonsense and you know it. The real kicker is this part:

>which doesn't help me in the slightest because of all the guides it has there's no installation guide.
If this person is so tech-savvy, why does he want an install guide so badly? I thought they were for plebs?

I do admit I jumped the gun with removing the installaion guide, not because of the install, but because of the later portions (IE the FAQ part).

Then he would find the manual install link placed in the pastebin.

See, THIS is a good and valid reason for keeping the manual install guide that I didn't think about.

I still don't think we should keep it in the pastebin, since those people wouldn't even know how to post here. Honestly, how would they even find us?

If doing so will keep the old method out of the OP, then I'll go ahead and clone it tomorrow morning.

I'd do it right now, but I'm really sleepy so I'd probably make a stupid mistake like leaving out the FAQ image again and cause more issues.

why not put it in another pastebin that links to a blog that links somewhere else? Put it in the OP because it's where such things are supposed to be kept.

desu the win10 fix and file aquisition errors also don't belong in the OP but we get them so often i'd rather just link to the OP for each retard so it's more for our own convenience than for newfags.

Don't remove stuff because you don't know all the use cases. Give them more choice, not less. If you don't want to help with the manual installs just stress it in the OP enough that people should use the no-install. I still don't get why you're so adamant on removing the old links

>Maybe he's an hgg regular who remembers pre-installs being frowned upon?
Then I'm sure that person would look at the OP, see that the pre-install is the only way to go, and think to himself "hmm, maybe this isn't frowned upon anymore? I guess I'll try it" and save himself a lot of trouble. That seems pretty rational to me.

>Honestly if I didn't do the manual way I wouldn't be here now and just stick to HF patch because "lol who cares? it's just a fap game"
I can honestly say that I have no idea why this would be the case. Do you only install games that seem complicated or something? Why? I'm honestly asking. You like making things difficult for yourself? Do you use the wizzard still too?

So basically the bottom line is some people want the 4 lines mentioning manual install removed but agree that they need to stay in the OP in some form so you basically want 4 lines to turn into 1 line (an all encompassing pastebin link with manual install info). If the only purpose of this is to hide it from new people then I think that isnt a strong enough reason to change the way it was before.

>I can honestly say that I have no idea why this would be the case. Do you only install games that seem complicated or something? Why? I'm honestly asking. You like making things difficult for yourself? Do you use the wizzard still too?
because I tried figuring out how to make the game work for myself at first. I'm not playing it because it's complicated but in spite of it. Putting all that work made me invest in the game and then I started modding. If it was just "download, fap, uninstall" I would do just that.
Guess I'm autistic but I lurked for months before posting anything here. If not for the guide I would just stick to HF patch (which i used at first until I read that it causes more problems than it solves).

>all these words and no pictures
Guys please, I have autism.

...

If I posted a picture with my every sperg post you would complain that I'm avatarfagging.

Ah! Begone Satan!

>Don't remove stuff because you don't know all the use cases.
Then please tell me the use cases for the manual install?

>Give them more choice, not less.
If one choice is clearly better, not just for them but for us, why should we keep it there?

>I still don't get why you're so adamant on removing the old links
Because it's something that really needs to be addressed. I personally don't understand why people are so adamant about keeping things the way they were. Is my suggestion the best? No, but it's a start.

Everyone that wants to keep the manual method in the OP, please try both methods. You don't have to uninstall the game to do this since the game just goes by the registries. Put the folders wherever you want.

If you don't have the "time" for it, then that's only proving my point. The pre-install takes less than a minute to install after downloading. The manual method takes considerably longer and has significantly more room for error.

If anything, I can make a version based off the old guide and link to the old one for people wanting the manual install.

But I don't want to link directly to it in the OP, because the manual install should be highly discouraged, and putting a link to it in the OP only clogs it up.

The more messy it is, the more people won't read it. The more they won't read it, the more they'll ask us.

Can we add the dolls hairs to the op too? We had that one venomous shitter last thread who couldn't comprehend the Google doc. Surely we'll see more like him if we do not.

>Then please tell me the use cases for the manual install?
I don't know them either, I use pre-install myself now. That's why we should keep things a little redundant.
>If one choice is clearly better, not just for them but for us, why should we keep it there?
Because you don't know if it's clearly better for everyone. And you don't solve the original problem - illiterates asking for help while not reading the OP - which in all honesty you can't do anything about. Why fix what isn't broken? You're only encouraging laziness.
>Because it's something that really needs to be addressed. I personally don't understand why people are so adamant about keeping things the way they were. Is my suggestion the best? No, but it's a start.
It doesn't need to be addressed. The OP was fine. I agree that everything for manual install can be trimmed down into a single link but all the info has to be preserved. And it's a start in the wrong direction so I'm trying to steer you away from it while the momentum is still low.
>Everyone that wants to keep the manual method in the OP, please try both methods.
I installed the game multiple times already and know perfectly well how much more convenient the no-install is. Your problem of "people don't know what should they choose between no-install and manual install" is solved by telling them that in case of doubt they should use no-install. Not removing their choices. The OP being big (it's not even that big) is not a problem. Just rearrange shit if you thing it's confusing. And if they still get confused then it's their problem and they either try to solve it of humbly ask us.

Thank you for answering my question.
To put it simply, you stuck with the game because you invested time in installing it and didn't want to just uninstall it after all that work, right? That I can understand. If the game is too easy install, then some people will just install it, fap, and leave.

This is a good point, but I don't think it's enough to completely change my position on this. However, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

go to sleep anonymous.

>This is a good point, but I don't think it's enough to completely change my position on this. However, I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Mention of the manual install will not be removed from the OP. You have two options either leave it the way it is or change the 4 lines into a manual install pastebin with links to the install guide and links to the download. If it was up to me it would stay the way it is but I am willing to compromise, I would wager that you are in the minority on this though keep that in mind. The OP is not one persons opinion.

the game is not hard to install now(compared to before v12 update times) and lowering the barrier further doesn't help us at all. The original installation guide was written with possible updates in mind and is handholding the whole way even tho there's a number of flaws with it. Now that the game is dead lots of info there is irrelevant because it's not a concern now.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Fool-proof it so less people ask retarded questions? They still would and manual install is not the primary source of problems. You don't want those people here anyway(I sure don't) so just ignore them and hopefully that will force them to read the OP. if not and they're insistent just mock them. The people you want to see are the ones who genuinely have problems but are willing to solve them with a little bit of help.
Make OP less confusing? Rearrange it, group links better, update the FAQ, etc.
Having a little barrier to entry is nice and filters out kids. The hard part is to make this barrier not too high.

How about something like this.
Instead of that line in the OP:
/aa2g/-Approved Pre-Installed game: tsukiyo.me/AAA/AA2.torrent
We link to a pastebin that looks something like this.
pastebin.com/mCpj96zD
It links to the old guide in the first setence.

It's got all the information a new person needs. I've literally followed this as I installed AA2 for the 4th time today, and it works perfectly.

It's a WIP since I'm super-tired and there's probably spelling errors everywhere.

Do you mean something like this? If not, I'll get back to you tomorrow morning. I really have to sleep already

Its better to have this discussion when more of the regulars are around, try again in 12 hours and it'll become really easy to visualize. Talking about it with 3 people is kinda pointless.

How does the AAU tan override work? When I pick a tan from the list and then switch tabs it undoes the change + the picked tan isn't visible on the character. Did I fuck up somehow?

kept the official site link as a courtesy.
trimmed down manual install stuff so it's still easy to find but obviously not recommended.
Renamed Modder's guide to Modding Guide because some people think if they're not modders there's nothing to find there.

Personally I don't think we need a guide for no-install but I'm not against it. Maybe cuck can include it in the doc's guides section. The pre-install link itself should be in the OP directly though.

what AAU version?

test9 from the mega.

the tans work a little wonky there. This is due to the game thinking the card was made with test7- and trying to use old paths (even though it's a new card). The workaround is basically:
load a test9 card (or make one and save it, make sure you edit body sliders so it's registered as such)
then make a new character (this time it will be considered a proper test9 card)

When I load an old card up again its still considered a test7 card. I guess I could change a body slider by the smallest amount, save it and then load it again but its a bit obnoxious. Oh well, thanks for the help!

it basically "asks" the card whether it's a test8+ card. If not it assumes it's test7- and tries to use old override paths. New cards also fit this criteria until you do something test8-y to them. The thing about the New Character button is it keeps the AAU stuff from before so the workaround makes you "carry" the version to the new card. Don't worry it's already fixed for the future test10 build.

Weighing in on the manual install question: that confounded YouTube video from week 2 is still the most-used installation guide for the game despite being years-outdated. Thanks, compound page hits. We've never been able to explain how people find these external links to install the game yet still manage to find us afterward, but it has always been the case and the primary cause of silly tech questions. I understand the desire to clean the OP and remove room for error, but also like covering other cases since I don't assume people will only use the OP to install the game.

>Mention of the manual install will not be removed from the OP.
Why? The only two reasons I've seen so far are:
Some people have downloaded the manual version and found this place.
and
People are more likely to stay if they spend more time installing it.

Both of which I don't think are very good reasons. I'll give my reasoning in following post and maybe you will agree.

>You have two options
Wait, why do you have the final say in this?

>I would wager that you are in the minority
Probably, but that's why I'm here discussing it. It's cliche to say, but people really don't like change, even if it's something as simple as this. In fact most people aren't for it or against it, but indifferent I bet.

For now, if I fail to give convince enough people, I do agree that
is a decent comprimise.

Ok and you are fucking retarded so who cares about your opinion? There is literally no reason to leave the manual install in the OP
