Was cactus canyon that good of a map?

it was pretty fun, a little bit flat on the third stage maybe, but I would have liked to see it in the Payload rotation if they dressed it up nicely

I remember the first stage having a really bad chokepoint at the end so it was rare to actually get to play the 2nd and 3rd stage.
but then I think they removed one of those stages anyway

you can't react quickly to enemies, your ability to hit Scouts without swapping to grenade launcher frequently is basically nil, and you can't blow up all the different stickies at once, you have to individually select them.

even on defense in competitive play, you want to be able to push out when necessary, or to react to just having blown up all your stickies and place more before an enemy runs right through

as for pubs, I guess it's a mixture of people not having the patience for it and everything above

scout is fun. i don't main scout but he is a versatile and useful class, that is fun, i don't understand why you would pity them. there is nothing better to main at least, soldier and medic mains are probably the most pitiful

I am trying to install Team Fortress 2 Classic just to give it a shot. Apparently it needs to be installed in "sourcemods" directory. The problem with this is that my operating system is on an SSD where there is not enough space to hold an 8 gigabyte file but regardless Steam will only read folders there. Just making a hard link to the folder from my external disk is apparently not enough even though it functions identically to a folder so what the fuck can I do? I cannot play?

I literally just showed you I use an external drive where I put all my games. Yes, Steam can use an external drive to install games too. There isn't a single game installed to my SSD, I am dualbooting with Linux, and Windows 7 takes up 25 gigabytes by itself for fucks sake. This "sourcemods" shit is my only problem with my whole setup and Windows 7 apparently doesn't have a capable hard linking system. I want to know if I have any other options

They changed it so it has an use even without a shield, but now it tries to be too many things to be useful

But why would you ever use the new claidham mor when the half zatochi exists?
Since it is now a sword and draws slower the honorbound system is basically non-existent because if you don't think you can get the kill then you just reholster it before its fully drawn.

Or you can use it with a shield and the chances of you not getting a kill with it are minimal.

This exactly, persian persuader was already pretty much useless with anything other than shield too. Which is good, because the swords should be good for demoknights with shields, not regular demos who also have swords.

Especially since the 15% extra damage taken means you'll get killed by much more stuff than you would otherwise.
Also it's really dumb that the damage vulnerability equals to a 20/30 max hp loss (depending on booties) when the old one had -15hp straight.

25hp on kill, 25% charge meter on kill, take 15% more damage from everything when active

Basically it went from "I'm gonna charge from one end of the map to the other and nobody is going to expect it" to "I want to help everyone!". Sadly, the best way it could help is by becoming the fucking skullcutter of all things

The skullcutter is 100x more useful because it does more damage and crits like buggery.

A charge and a critswing into a Heavy with the Skullcutter will instakill him

Yeah but if he hears the scream and starts drilling into you quick enough you won't get the second swing off. Bashing and a swing is a lot cleaner and safer

You still need to get the full charge distance to deal enough bash damage to oneshot him
I find it easier to get a minicrit off and pray for crits while juking them, usually you wouldn't try this on a heavy who can actually aim

Don't forget you are using the skullcutter so the full charge distance is a lot shorter than normal

I don't even think the b.a.s.e. has a purpose for demoman at all. Soldier has some synergy with the air strike.

You can hover above people and rain stickies down on them. Demo can jump up to the skybox almost instantly so on maps with large skyboxes like thunder mountain its pretty viable to hover and spam

Maybe if you are trimping and you can get some real height, but even then you lack any ranged abilities. Probably not

Yeah, but demo lacks ranged attacks. Aiming a pill from the top of the skybox is pain even with the LnL, and you're telegraphing your stickies.
I mean, it could be fun to sticky snipe with the quickiebomb up there, but other than that, I see no practical use.

Did you know that you can get to the other team's sniper perch on harvest by trimping on the ladder to the right of your spawn? Great for taking out snipers, engis and other random flankers
Aiming pills while hovering is easy if you have the iron bomber. Even if you miss you're still doing damage, but the reduced arc and speed help lining up shots
And thundermountain has some of the worst spawns in the game
