Bare with me Veeky Forums, I'm gonna tell you a brief story.
>Have family in Mexico >regularly go visit once or twice a year >every time I go, I find at least one or two gems >found a '67 Camaro shell in excellent condition >Dad's buddy agreed to sell me his 240z for
$3500 USD
. >Z is in fantastic condition, all original. >Have never imported a vehicle before >thinking of investing some of my savings into buying some of those cars and flipping them in the US of A
Does anyone have any experience with importing cars from Mexico/Canada?
Lincoln Cooper
You have to go back
Ayden Jackson
No, I don't. Ebin maymay though, did you come up with it all by yourself?
Carson Perez
>sell me his 240z for $3500 USD >Z is in fantastic condition, all original. I am really jealous of you
I've never had personal experience with importing cars from bordering nations, but I heard its all tricky paperwork. You gotta dot your I and cross your Ts and make sure everything is right when you submit paperwork or you are going to go through a lot of headaches
Dylan Wood
If it's more than 25 years old it's easy. Otherwise it's basically impossible unless it's rare as fuck or completely identical to the us model.
James Nguyen
It's actually not that hard to register so long as it has an American vin you can fudge it by registering it as salvage. It's old enough none of the emissions states, even California, give a shit.
Kayden Edwards
Drive it across the border, register it through Vermont.
Cooper King
>Bare with me
Stopped reading there.
Noah James
>reading Look at this fagboi
Brandon Gutierrez
I don't see why you'd stand to make any more money flipping them just because they happen to be from Mexico
Asher Taylor
Bumpity
I'm also from Canada and have family in Mexico. Been really tempted by all the cheap old vws
Sebastian Anderson
You have to go back
Brandon Morgan
>Z is in fantastic condition >in mexico
Should I tell him boys?
Jeremiah Peterson
>BARE
Juan Mitchell
Well obviously, shipping several VW's would cost too much.
Kevin Turner
This is the one breh, for $3500 I won't complain
Luke Wilson
Next time you see a Mexican man tell him that
Henry Cruz
That entire rear quarter panel is nothing but bondo, and it's cracked because of the rust expanding and pushing it out.
That car is swiss cheese.
Charles Morris
>Mexican "men"
lol
Gabriel Hernandez
>tinted windows >shit wheels/tires >weird paint >dirty
Jose Martinez
>no mirrors >clearly not the pride and joy of whoever owns it
Andrew Robinson
All this jelly-o
I think the paint looks great op.
Jace Reyes
That Z is a giant turd.
Cooper Thompson
this
also look at all that rust forming, marked by the green circle.
Isaac Gomez
A lot of 240z's came from the factory with only the driver side mirror sempai
The exchange rate right now is about $23 MXN to $1USD. Basically get them for cheap there and restore them State side. You deal with a lot less "i know wat i got" type of bullshit than you would in the US.
Jace White
>smartass
left to right.
crack, paint blister from rust, cracked bondo on upper fender flair.
Jaxon Fisher
You forgot to outline the aerodynamics too.
You sure can tell a whole lot from one shitty picture.
Either way, there is no chance of a complete and running 240z for $3500 anywhere else.
Pic related is what $3500 gets you in my area
Cooper Morgan
That's also a 260z, which was made for one year.
Chase Phillips
Hehe I'll sure get this guy >thoroughly examines a bad picture of a 4th of the car >$3500? That's insane look at these minor issues with the paint >heavy breathing
you need to get outside your basement turbo autist
Jose Reed
240>260
Hudson Perez
>not wanting to get butt-ass nekid with OP
Alexander King
OP, there have been many "hand me down" cars from the US to Mexico. You should check the VIN and see if you can find out if it was sold or registered in the US.
>not knowing that 70-73 240z's only came with 1 mirror on the drivers side.
Scrub

I tried importing a 06 sti and it was a nono... If the car is not made in the US, Canada or mexico you will have to pay 50% of the price to import it.
Elijah Gutierrez
From where? Japan? Australia? Canada? 50% is insane, is it off MSRP or what you paid for it? Why import an 06 STi tho? There are plenty in the US
Ayden Reyes
Probably MSRP and probably because he was a college student who moved across the border. T - lost my corolla when I moved from Canada after finishing college in Quebec Thing was barely worth 2k, let alone the 2k in fees to get the process started
Henry Jones
not all wetbacks all violent criminals you racist.
