Podcasts.

Cruising on the highway is dull. My mind wanders with music. I start to daydream and eventually get tired and my eyelids start to get heavy.

Podcasts keep my brain active and awake far more efficiently.

For shorter trips I listen to Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation, Devin Townsend etc.

Try out The Money Store, it's much more accessible. And sounds a lot more like actual hip-hop than just a black guy screaming words that rhyme.

I'll check it out, thanks.

Listened so much to this album when my ex broke up with me.

youtube.com/watch?v=K6S4O-VtZBI

This is the one of the only songs I ever listen to while driving.

Makes me feel depressed as fuck for some reason, but I keep listening to it anyway.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but Red has some great songs too. The singles were shit, but the others were much better.

Please explain

>not listening to classical music

Red was like a 5/10 album. That doesn't mean I can't blast it out of the windows of muh trucc, though.
First three albums are probably the best, though.

i've accidentally fractured my pinky one day from slamming the radio dial when his bee-stung face came on the radio a year ago. nothing makes me reach for the radio dial faster than hearing that guy's raspy, pompous voice. he's everything wrong with modern pop country. him and old FGL

>First three albums are probably the best, though.
For me it's Speak now > Fearless > Red.

youtube.com/watch?v=PUDvRdDMc8k

still the best driving album desu

fearless > taylor swift > speak now > drone metal > 1989 > ... most of everything else i have > red

Hell, I don't even have Red on my phone.

just noticed it was posted already, woops, also 2nd'd

What are you doing with your life?

living happily in the haze of pre-2013, old taytay

hbu?

Red embiggens everything I hate about the new but gotta live with it somehow. Especially since 1989 is probably the best overplayed pop album of that year (tho i think yeezus was released that year too. can't remember)

I can't be the only one.

>nu-male pussy radio

radio.therightstuff.biz

i think you mean TRS

>home town had the perfect jazz radio station

HANNITY!

Red is her downfall to pop, but at least it's better than the shit she put on 1989.
I have all her songs on my phone, except 1989 because I just can't listen to it without raging. If I want to feel anger I rather listen to bands like Arch Enemy, because at least that rage isn't fuelled with cutesy love-pop music.

Also, Red is pre-2013.

I was right there with you until 6-8 months ago. They played their hand way too hard and showed how controlled they were. I listened for a while to see what they wanted people to think but it got so bad and annoying I just stopped.

I listen to more right wing stuff now. Ive caught them wrong many times as well, but its almost never manipulative garbage like on npr. Npr still has some interesting non-political non-world event segments though.

I try to stick to State of Trance, classical, or stuff like Tool.

>projecting
>speaking in /pol/ terms

I don't even know what a nu-male is, honestly.

I'll bite though. Tell me your gripes with NPR

I have a big interest in media integrity and try to get something from all sources and all sides of the spectrum, honestly. I don't feel as if NPR are "controlled" -- it's no secret most journalists are liberal or left leaning (function of the profession and the typical background of one), but I've never felt like NPR explicitly lied or tried to sway me to have a certain viewpoint.

I don't want to turn this thread into anything political though. I mean, Car Talk is an NPR show.

I was just shitposting tbhfam but all the liberal dickheads and bleeding heart faggots listen to npr

Fair enough

>NICE TO MEET YOU
>WHERE YOU BEEN
>I CAN SHOW YOU INCREDIBLE THINGS
What is little known is that her song "Mean" was written about her executive producers trying to influence her music and treating her like she was just some kid (which she still is, tho, desu let's not lie about this). Then when it came time to write for Red, her producers begged her to include at least one song with the twang or banjo or steel guitar but she was like "no. fuck you". Risky but seemed to pay well off.

Koodus to her for sticking to her guns despite leaving country as a whole. Hell - better than going full breakdown like many other child (or teen) stars. Probably something to do with her parents' involvement and her small town roots.

Anyway, 1989 is probably the best pop album of that year and even /mu/ will reluctantly agree to that.

It might be the best of that year, but in general pop is pretty shitty, so a talented artist can make the best album no problem.

>NICE TO MEET YOU
>WHERE YOU BEEN
>I CAN SHOW YOU INCREDIBLE THINGS
When I heard that I had hope for the rest of the album, but sadly it was not what I hoped for.
It's growing on me though, I start listening more to it and hating it less.

>which she still is, tho, desu let's not lie about this
She's also fucked in the head, that's what I like about her.

I'm (half)shitposting this album on two other places right now and the consensus is that the album is at the very least "Tolerable". This is coming from people who spend their lives listening to Loveless on repeat for some raisin. You should more than tolerate it.

I should say that I do not enjoy Shake it Off, though.

>don't say no
>listen to it now
>i'll meet you when you're out
>at the church at the back door
You can listen to that again when you're done 1989, user.

Sorry, but I can't listen to Shake It Off and they ruined Bad Blood with that Kendrick Lamar shit show.

I feel like i'm playing one of the first need for speeds

Just a non-stop loop of air raid sirens on my tendie travels.

I think we can at least enjoy the first three are GOAT. Reminded me a lot of Kristofferson but without the life experience, depression, or meeting Johnny Cash in a dark room. Good times.

Here youtube.com/watch?v=GSSZdwL67Ok

Also, Bad Blood is just an example of producer influence. Also, Kendrick Lamar is actually a pretty good artist in his own rights. To Pimp a Butterfly is like a 9/10 album.
I personally don't like it but am glad she got him to do a song with instead of the other candidates like fucking Drake.

>youtube.com/watch?v=GSSZdwL67Ok
youtube.com/watch?v=GSSZdwL67Ok

It may just be some of the hosts are indoctrinated and truly believe certain things. I've heard some hilariously bad things on there about Syria.

Yeah car talk is a good one and certain random segments about random topics can certainly be interesting. I've been trying to switch back from talk into music. Driving is a lot more relaxing that way.

Audiobooks are also amazing if you have over a 10 minute commute. You will finish a book before you know it and if you find a good one, you will find yourself looking forward to your drive to find out what happens. I got through like 15 books in a year just by listening on my old 40 minute commute that way.
