Pennzoil platinum isn't bad. It's supposed to clean better have have more resistance to burning. It's probably my 2nd go to choice for oil.

Its a great oil. It and pennzoil ultra are one of the thinnest 5w-30s out there.

Stupid people keep putting it in engines that are old or modified but specd for 5w-30 and usually it doesn't work out well.

Boy you're talking out your ass and I know I've got shit stains older than you, probably smarter and smell better too.

im anal about my oil...

im also particular about the lubricants i put in my car

Because i want to? I owned a saturn for a long time (sl2) it burned a ton of oil and one day i said fuck it and i put royal purple in it and it improved it's mpgs by 2 and the car seemed to run smoother and burned half qt in 3500 miles as opposed to 2qts in 2k miles

Only poorfags do their own oil.
I don't even keep track of the mileage
It just tells me "hey faggot, you need an oil change" and I take it in

And it's all complimentary

My owners manual says 5w30 for up to 100°F. 10w30 or 10w40 is preferred for 0°F and above, severe driving conditions, and/or mostly highway miles. It's regularly 80°F to 110°F where I live and my commute is 95% highway. It would (and did) burn right through 5w30 when I tried it, especially since the piston rings are worn.

It also says 30, 40, 10w50, 20w40, and 20w50 are acceptable when towing, desert environments, or in very high temperatures.

If I lived where it ever got below 50°F more than two days a year and had a stop and go commute, sure, 5w30 would probably be fine. But I don't, and it's very happy with 10w40.

Straight out of a UDSM 350z Owners manual.

A lot of people don't realize that you can use a bunch of different grades of oil depending on ambient temperature.

Yes

Did an oil change on a benz once, looked through the owners manual to see the oil recommendation and was greeted with this.

I think it was a late 2000's E class, like E350 or something like that.

Synthetic just makes the burn slightly less efficient from the flame retardants.

FD's can get away with it for not having a shit oil system, rx8's on the other hand will just carbon lock faster.
