Because even our econoboxes get terrible gas mileage, and the poor fuckers over there pay out the ass for petrol.

>Expensive to bring over
>even mores o with taxes on purchase
>generally worse then german competition

The only reason they still sell stateside is because of "muh american" and lower prices.

This, same thing in Australia but we have Holden

Totally depends on needs and what not, ford fiesta is somewhat popular in evropa because it's a subcompact with good looks, good engine and decent price, anything bigger and they turn to bmw, mercedes and european brands because engines are overall different than american made models

Because German brands are well established and Japanese cars are superior, desu.

eurofords and teslas are quite common here in norway

cheaper to have opel, yuroford and fiat do the work for you.
But the stuff that scream AMERICA LAND OF THE FREE get their own niche.

You do realize the Ford Mustang outsells the Porsche 911 in Germany, right? And yes, most of them are 5.0L V8 engines, not the 2.3L Turbo.

The Ford Fiesta is one of the best sellers across the pond. Maybe not #1, but up there with the Golf. I'd even say maybe in the top 3.

they're generally a lot more expensive in europe in comparison to other cars than they are in the usa, and most have to be imported, which means that parts and labor are expensive since no one knows how to work on them.

you can be damn sure that if the mustang gt was priced relative to other cars the same way it is in the usa, they would sell pretty well in europe, but that isn't the case.

example - mustang gt

>usa msrp: $33k usd
>germany msrp: $46k usd

fite me faggot

ford mustang with the V8 is roughly 112k over here

2.3 EcoBoost – Fastback – manual – € 55.195
2.3 EcoBoost – Fastback – auto – € 68.695
2.3 EcoBoost – Convertible – manual – € 59.695
2.3 EcoBoost – Convertible – manual – € 71.695
5.0 V8 GT – Fastback – manual – € 112.195
5.0 V8 GT – Fastback – auto – € 114.195
5.0 V8 GT – Convertible – manual – € 116.195
5.0 V8 GT – Convertible – auto – €118.195

9/10 people would get the manual in NL/BE because automatic is seen as something for elderly people or handicapped people.

because only americucks want "sportcars" that get their asses kicked by ecconobox hatch backs

That's actually not nearly as bad as I thought the difference would be.

I assume that the Mustang GT in Germany is probably closer to or better than the GT Premium (or better) here in the US, which makes the comparison closer to 38k vs 46k

american cars are shit.

>fiesta is american

Kek

The attractiveness for American cars is their cheap power and value for money. Because of the fact that the price is upped by thousands of euros or more on say, a ford mustang, means that they are no longer cheaper than the competition and therefore objectively inferior when compared to say a bmw m3 or something similar.

As for ordinary cars, luxury cars, and utility vehicles, I'm sorry to say this. but Europe does it better and like with the sports cars, american imports don't have a value based advantage and aren't designed for the european market.

Selling tauruses and camaros and dodge rams in europe is like trying to sell a chinese knockoff off something for the same price as the original.

The Fiesta is one of the ugliest small cars of the past 20 years.

spot on

I can get an M4 or something similar for the price of a mustang. nobody picks the mustang over an M4

youtu.be/Vpuddec3yvs

A lot of similar reasons desu

The market is big enough already plus American cars have pretty bad build quality problems. Chevy Suburbans were exported briefly but sold poorly since all the interior trim parts didn't quite align right and local offerings were cheaper and more reliable. It might be more of a GM problem and an American built problem but the damage is done.

Was reading it all until at the end:

>But fleet sales of 911s means that the monthly crown goes back to Porsche.

So the whole news post was "LOOK AT THE MUSTANG OUTSELLING THE 911! USA! USA! actually no not really."?

Americans only buy American cars because they are cheaper

>picks a fucking escalade to represent all American cars
is this 2004?

Even the US fiesta isnt american

Because for every american car there is better and cheaper European alternative. Also maintaining European car in Europe is cheaper than in USA which seems to see anything from Europe as luxury car.

It's been the #2 bestselling car in Europe since 2009

>Nearly 70% of imported cars are from Germany
So even Japanese people know their cars suck so they import godmachines if they can afford them.

>expensive to import
>taxed
>xbawks-hueg making them impossible to drive on anything other than the highway
>shit fuel consumption (which means additionnal taxes)
>poor build quality and rare spare parts means they will break down and repairs will be long and expensive
American cars are just too unpractical for people who want a car for practical reason. Especially the ones that aren't sport cars, they cannot compete with small locally-build japanese, german, french or even fucking romanian cars.
But that is also why there is and has always been a market for unpractical things like the muscle cars, the landbarges and the fuckhuge 4x4. Because if you don't care how practical your car is and want it because it's fast, fun, beautiful or any other reason, then an american car that qualifies is as valid as any other. It will just be a bigger expense but if you can pay for it, why the shit not.
That being said though, it looks like somehow, the trend for big SUVs and using 4x4 as roundabouts has created a market for Dodge, at least here in France. It's sort of an alternative to the Land Rovers. I'm not really sure why, might have something to do with pricing or with the Land Rover getting an image as soccer-mom cars now and dudes wanting to appear more manly in comparison, I dunno.

We buy Fords. Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta. Don't really think of them as American though.

>American
>sports cars
is this nigga serious?

it interprets selling 28 more of a car that's half the price as a win somehow

Thats nice, dear

>xbawks-hueg making them impossible to drive on anything other than the highway

Funny, because even japanese cafs are pigfat now.

scandinavians go away

mustang gt in the UK is like £35k

he said best seller, not good car.

>muh gtr
>muh nsx
just get a miat or mazda 2.

Because American "cars" are shit.

they're the cheapest cars you can buy in north america, the only cheaper is the koreans.

but a mustang is like $100k in europe so why would they ever buy that pile of shit

Netherlands/Belgian numbers

The ones that sell well in Europe and in the US are (though japanese pigfat is still nowhere near american pigfat), the best selling cars in Japan are small stuff, kei-cars and vans that get a tax break and are only exported to the korean market (and in Vietnam, Indonesia Malaysia plus Singapore for a few models)

same shit.

Fiesta was developed in Europe, as was the Focus, hence why they're actually GOOD.

The German price includes value added tax, the American price doesn't. Once you subtract VAT and shipping costs from the US, the Mustang GT is only a few grand more expensive in Europe.

burgers are too fat for kei car.

Insurance is an additional £35k

>the Mustang GT is only a few grand more expensive in Europe

germany price starts at 46.7k$, in austria it starts at 61,5k$, iirc sweden and finland are even worse.

and taxation afterwards cucks you even more

but sure, you know how pricing in all of europe works

I did start my post with Germany, I only accidentally wrote Europe at the end. Of course I meant Germany.

because American brands dont even bother, because they know they cant compete with the European brands
An American car in Europe is not cheaper to buy or to maintain, and quality standards are way lower.
Americans even tried, but it just wont sell
>pic related

That wasnt the point, its just funny that burgers claim the Fiesta as their own.

Those dont count as most arent even sold in NA and EU and dont come left hand drive. Just look at the stuff thats actually sold here, like the newest Civic, which is way pigfat. Don’t even get me started on European cars, the only things not made here are dual cab pickups, but everything else is as pigfat, if not more than American equivalents.

And heres a pic for those who claim American cars aren’t practical.

>like the newest Civic, which is way pigfat
Exactly. You adapt to your market and its demands instead of throwing products at it and hope it will bend itself into wanting them. Murikans like big cars because it gives an impression of safety? Well we'll make ours bigger, they will like them more. And we'll throw in more crumble space as well, this way they will be safer too.
Also
>BMWs and Mercs
>practical.
No.
The practical euro cars are the Golfs, Clios, A-type (despite how fucking cancerous it is) and stuff like that.
Bigger german cars are already aimed towards the upper echelons of the general market.

Holy shit, 6 figures for a mustang what

>Golf
>practical

Well kinda, but they are pretty shitty compared to korean equivalents.

Because they're shitty expensive overweight inefficient uncomfortable unergonomic poor-handling landbarges.

The only reason to buy a modern american car is for a big V8 engine. Note how they had to put independent rear suspension on the Mustang in order to get europeans to consider it over a hot hatch.

not trolling, but american cars are fucking garbage

europoop here
i DO want a ameriga barge but its expensive

That Lancia though has better and revised interiors than the original Chrysler model.

Here in Italy that Lancia rebadge full optional was literally thrown at you with ridiculous discounts considering that you have a V6 3.0 multijet and premium features.

Good as a company car for employers

They tried
but lets face it, it didnt sell very well in europe

>Fiesta was developed in Europe, as was the Focus, hence why they're actually GOOD.

This. My Focus is fine apart from power. The Fiesta I used to borrow from my mother was great for a small car, and still ran great after over a decade of use.

honda fit is more practical.
honda fit shuttle is the perfect car.

the global escort and the global ranger have always sold well.

This. You see videos of American VEE ATE landbarges cruising on the Autobahn with no issues

Because american cars are shit and tasteless.
Only muscle cars are okay since they're different and the new ones aren't even muscle cars.

Also we don't get threatened with being thrown over the wall if we don't buy american.

what i'm gathering here is that cars are cheap in germany compared to most of the rest of western europe

not yet you arent

If you don't buy American I'm going to come over there and throw your fat ass over a wall. Ohh wait that's right, you don't have one.

They have ridiculous prices over here. Sometimes double of the US price.

We used to have a great wall...

But then David Hasselhoff came and tore it down.
Why? Just why?

With the migrant shit here I'm really starting to miss that Berlin wall.

Anything 'global' comes from Ford Europe. Ford America is just a nostalgia-based operation to churn out shitty cheap econoboxes because that's all america wants, and they'll tax the shit out of anything imported.
Even India gets better Fords than America.

Actually there's quite a few countries with sensible vehicle pricing, or to put it correctly, sensible taxation. Sticker prices in Europe include sales taxes or whatever you may call it. You hardly hear anything about countries with vehicle prices close to prices in the USA because hurrrrdurrrrr $100k for mooostang gt makes a better story.

Yeah, it didn't sell.

But you know, for a price of a brand new shitbox you can have this:

ww4.autoscout24.it/?atype=C&mmvmk0=42&mmvmd0=1826&mmvco=1&fregfrom=2010&cy=I&zipc=I&zipr=200&ustate=N,U&sort=price&desc=1&results=80&page=1&event=sort&dtr=s

90% of the entries are company cars as I said, some of them have with very high mileages for their age.

the only advantage american cars have is price. In Europe that advantage is removed meaning there is no reason for anyone to buy them

They cost the same and you got more plastic because non eco engines, they are really hard to sell and depreciate like a motherfucker

When will Europeans understand muscle cars aren't sports cars?

Most American cars are too big for European roads. Enjoy driving a fuckhueg American boat car through an ancient Italian village.

150% tax on buying a car in my country.

for the same kind of money you get a BMW M series, Audi RS or S series, or a nice merc. if you are throwing that kind of money at a car you shouldn't even consider a mustang

I think it was Denmark which has a 180% tax upon the sale price of the car, making even a 1 liter 3 banger cost a fortune

our fuel also costs 6-7 dollar per gallon

here. The tax was reduced to merely 150% a few months back. Whoop de fucking doo.

Oh and the prices start at ~$80k

Because my m3 is probably cheaper to maintain overhere then any random american ecobox, let alone their luxury cars.

because an M3 is better in every possible way

so how much does a fucking citroen C1 cost you in denmark?

About three fiddy.
Starts at ~$14k.

including the 150% tax?

Yeah, the 150% tax is included in that price.

>30k car outsells 90k car
>more at 11

NETHERLANDS
In Switzerland the 5L V8 manual GT starts at 50kCHF. That's around 49kUSD (including tax).

€41k here in Luxembourg that's about $43k

Sometimes I wonder if other countries just hate living

They also don't have a fat ass because they aren't American

the bmw 850csi is a nice car

for 32K you get a citroen DS3 performance (208 hp)

thats about the cheapest fast car you can get

That's because the New Mustang is fully integrated in Ford EU. The older ones were not, you had to order, there was none on display, etc...
On top of that there is the new ecoboost engine and a 2.3 pays WAY less taxes then the old V6 and obviously the 5.0 V8.

Having the 2.3 option also allowd dealerships to get sales out of the 5.0s in display. Were before if they had one on display they either sold the V8 or sold nothing they now can redirect people interested in a cheaper alternative to the 2.3.

I kinda wish they would. Here we mostly have shitboxes. Literally I could screencap outside my window and you'd see 90% shitbox. Unlimited amounts of Seats, Golfs and Opels. The slightly more rich people use BMWs but I'd argue even those are shitbox tier.

More american cars in the european markets would just mean that you would see slightly less BMWs and Mercs and their american counterparts instead.
It certainly wouldn't take the place of our local shitboxes.

The question if who would buy such a glorified cuckmobile when you could get a Golf GTI for the same price or an MX-5 for less.

because even the cheapest GTI costs you 37.5k?

As far as I know that baguette is the cheapest 200+ hp fun you can get

I'm getting 28k, your DS3 is 27k. A Polo GTI which produces almost 200 hp can be had for only 22k.
