/srg/ - SpeedRunning General

Useful speedrunning links:
speedrun.com/ - Has most, if not all records of runners doing certain games. Many runs have a recording so you can learn what the runners have done.

tasvideos.org/ - Tool-assisted speedruns. Shows how a game can be run in optimal conditions. As expected, they're quite fast paced and pull off many frame perfect actions. They're also useful for an RTA, as these videos are useful for learning routes and certain techniques.

Give me some good streamers who are streaming right now

GOGOGO

biinny.

squid's role model.

Here's some Twitch pages of good runners streaming right now:

>Haliinen
Good SM64 player, cares about good video quality. No cam, no mic, just great gameplay.

>Runnerguy2489
OG OoT bingo, can't go wrong there

>TheOfficialSkozzy
If you're into LM

Who are some CUTE streamers?

Don't mind this post I just don't wanna be a new IP cakeboi later on in the thread

I haven't been here in a while, do we still say dude nice and who is we?

who is "we"?

me desu

>we
who did he mean by this?

post twitch

who /shoplifting/ here

>every runner needs to go by the book instantly

>instantly
>implying he didn't learn the game like a year ago

You don't 'learn' SM64 in one go, hence the poor movement. People adapt to better strats as they progress.

Imagine being this poster

>updating to a noob strat instead of just learning the noob strat in the first place

>being unable to provide examples
>expecting everyone to do everything exactly by the book when they start out
>being this anal and autistic about it on Veeky Forums where no one cares

>it's that he makes up his own strats for no reason when a faster and equally easy strat already exists with input display videos that literally show you exactly how to do it down to the input.
this is the grindmonkey mindset

>being unable to provide examples
see
and that's just one of many.

>grind monkey is blindly copying
>making your own strats is now grind monkeying
>being unable to understand that new runners just want to play the game to start off with
>being this thick

>expecting everyone to do everything exactly by the book when they start out
Why would you not go by the book if your goal is 49?

>i just want to play the game and have fun!
>i want a 49 by 2018!
pick one

that is obviously a mistake, not once has there been a long jump to the star. lying to fuel your own obsession and bait

>by 2018
>its jan

autism anyone? obsession anyone?

youtube.com/watch?v=MI8h0cw00dY

>that is obviously a mistake
>does it multiple times in a row consecutively both during his warmup and during runs

>not once has there been a long jump to the star
>11:39 timestamp in his past broadcast shows otherwise

that is obviously a one off. wow someone did incorrect movement once better go on an autism crusade at my local Veeky Forums. retard

>that is obviously a one off.
No shit. You said "not once". Do you even read the words that you type?

The other movement was incorrect in every consecutive attempt, however. It's not like the longjump into the star is the only thing he's doing wrong there.

There is nothing else wrong with a high 55 new player doing what he is doing, end of. retard

>Haliinen
Ahhhh, it's refreshing to watch an SM64 runner doing practice.

Squid's WF grind stagnation gets tiring.

>practice doesnt happen unless its on stream
>comparing a low 49 player to a new player
retard
retard

>i can't even spend 10 minutes learning free noob strats but i swear i practice off stream!

>i
???

>my grind monkey boyfriend can't even spend 10 minutes learning free noob strats but i swear he practices off stream!
better?

You can't improve your pathetic obsession posts, stream monster.

Thought you were gonna fall asleep

>cara finally running the greatest speedgame of all time again
Thank you, based Trump!

Who?
Playing what?

Haliinen is on a run!

Squid should take notes. Practice until a PB is easy, then do runs.

I wonder how many more attempts Squid has done than Haliinen since either of their previous respective PBs.

Everyone practices differently

>de hippie spacing

Indeed. Some people fuck around and waste their time. Others get shit done.

>49 player vs a new 55

>49 player pb's easily
>55 player struggles and fails
Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

It's all a matter of preference. Some people want to learn everything then do runs and some people want to get better through runs. It's whatever works for the person in question.

What's your autistic issue? You sound like you have deep rooted problems with him.

what is with the obsession with squid here? seriously? did beating ion cause people here to hate on him?

The Mario crew is scared some Ape "memegame" runner will expose them.

>get better through runs
SM64 doesn't really work that way. Biinny tried to get better through runs and it took him twice as many hours as everyone else.

>grindxmonkey still thinks having wr in his shitty family reunion memegame means anything at all
lmao

I seriously doubt that top super mario 64 runners would lurk here, let alone post here.

Ofcourse it works that way, that's a stupid statement. There's no reason why someone couldn't get better just from playing the game from beginning to end

Yeah the runs look like they are going sooo well
/s

He was just on low 48 pace on his first attempt of the day.

How are Squid's runs going?

puncayshun literally does, he reposts our content on twitter all the time

the first 3 hours of his stream were practice you fucking dunce. he got an amazing run almost right away and probably will again without much effort

*he reposts what he thinks our content is, but has no actual idea because he never spends more than five minutes browsing this dump

twitter.com/puncayshun/status/770861164062539776

Will complaineranon that constantly spouts "if you don't have WR, you shouldn't run a game" ever leave again?

better than squid will ever do

>Runnerguy2489
Best husbando.

I dont fucking watch that guy i dont know

Do you think he can just admit to browsing "four channel, that alt-right neo-nazi russian hacker", when his parents know his online handle? No, he has to keep it to low key dogwhistles to let us know he is our guy and keep the normies in the dark about his secret allegiance.

Oh be still my heart insulting a guy ive never watched before, i am wounded

>There's no reason why someone couldn't get better just from playing the game from beginning to end
Can you name one person who has ever done this without putting literally years worth of more time into the game than people who efficiently practice?

Name one top 120 star runner who hasn't done shitloads of practice.

I can't cause we haven't seen it happen, but there's no reason someone get better and better through practice runs after learning how to do the tricks

You can't get better at the game that way because there are certain stars you need to put exorbitant amounts of additional time into than other stars, but when you do runs you're essentially practicing the easy stuff as much as you're practicing the hard stuff.

You'll never optimize a 100 coin star by doing it once in a 2 hour period. It just doesn't work that way.

Opinions on hippie spacing?

Opinions on cakeboi OPs?

hello?

i want to throat fuck kazooiegirl

Madness: oddshot.tv/shot/UzqtiH6ytiFFMq-ifa0dbVC0

I don't speedrun, but I think this may fit for fast games:
youtube.com/watch?v=0axs_A20MN8

Or maybe it'd just make you make a lot of mistakes.

is cosmo streaming someone else's content?

youtube.com/watch?v=KSH-FVVtTf0

Twiggy is my new speedwaifu

get dumped Kazooiegirl

She's an attention whore, but damn would I smash that little Mexican ass.

...

Why is BounceyBoy doing so much wrong movement?

He doesn't do any real practice.

reminder to report cosmo's stream for not actually showing gameplay but instead showing youtube videos.

Literally every single star is just made up movement. What is with these new SM64 runners and not practicing?

>What is with these new SM64 runners and not practicing?
They come from speedgames where you barely need to practice to get good.

twitch username?

I just got a 3 second untied in goldeneye :^)

I thought you guys were just nitpicking, but what the FUCK this is strange to watch.

It's baffling. It's literally like a lets play. Just completely improvised movement.

youtube.com/watch?v=kjDM0Fz5ccU

BounceyBoy doing a 70 star run. Observe the movement.

He's better at 70 star (because it's an easy category).
