/org/ - Off-Road General: wat really is offroading?

ITT: we continue to confuse Tacofag with Tayposter, who and where is yellow yj guy, sit inside because it's raining, replace our seats, 2wd tears, arguing if manuel is better than auto, sawzall fenders, and SNOWROLLING

Post trips, talk about your builds, and post pictures of birds

hi

that looks like some comfy snowrolling

Baja 1000 is point and squirt meme racing and not off-roading

ITT:

>Today on /org/ I learned that the Baja 1000 is not "offroading."

...

looks like a bunch of guys that would be awesome to wheel with
even though they're aussies

don't feel the trolls

it was. first snowfall of the year, 10" of soft, fluffy powder over a dirt road that hadn't frozen yet and was still nice and soft. 10/10 would do again

well first sideways picture then accidentally replied to myself. I am a derp, am sorry

Yes Sheriff, sorry sir.

agree

cool where is this picture taken at?

>driving off of the road is not offroading

he's just shitposting
no one can actually be this retarded

that was Yankee Boy Basin Road south of Ouray, CO a little over a year ago. almost fell off the edge trying to turn around. Mickeys in snow = no bueno

maybe its the same guy who has the gold tacoma with protective nerf bars

>this is not offroading

God damnit I hate being sick because I can't work on my shit

I love me some Ouray.

Here's Yankee Boy Basin sans snow. It was Lil Mountain Goat's first off-road experience. Great introduction to the hobby.

>tfw no gt 3.14 to go wheeling with

you should of waited till the rain stopped before working on your bumpi

haha my girlfriend hates that road but she really hates that overhang in particular. that road is entertaining with 13 feet of wheelbase.

well i hate working on my shit id rather be in the middle of the woods somewhere

Wifey didn't care for it much, either.

Here's some more of the road to Yankee Boy Basin.

kekekek that photo
Did that crying in 2wd guy ever come back?

man that road is fun. and Ouray in general is cool as shit. my sister moved to Montrose last year so every time I go visit we have to go chill in the hot springs cave.

I hope to spend a lot of time out that way next summer once I've got the lift on. seems to be way more shit to explore out there than there is in the front range.

Great photo. Brings back memories.
The only time I've driven that road was in my stock beater VW bug.

...

>implying that guy existed
>implying that wasnt just me doing le ebin maymayposting

I'm thinking I got it from a party I went to because some people were sharing drinks and I might have caught it from trying a friend's drink. Either way it sucks.

But wrenching is fun, user!

That being said I hate painting. It's gonna look good though

NO IT ISNT!!!!!!!!!!!

>wrenching on your shitbox isn't fun

user pls working on shitbox is the best

>i'd rather be sitting on my driveway replacing parts than off roading in the woods

why can't you enjoy doing both?

did somebody say
>le ebin taytayposting
>!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
>pic related my current mood

r u cold pls respond

i guess thats fine
but being in the woods is better mfw

are you still out snowrolling taytay?

Thoughts, /org/?

I think it's gonna look clean as fuck

awwwwwww yeeeeee

have you painted the bumper yet?

Hey guys what was better again I think I forgot: Autobots or Manuel?

looks good so far man!

pls no
anything but this

Not yet. Dropped it off at a friend's house to finish welding

definitely manuel

what's in the bag?

Grocery bags because California has this stupid new law where you have to bring your own bags to the supermarket or pay extra for them to give you one.

It also had an SDSU blanket that I used to keep the weight off the front bar before I can get it all welded up

I'm back, what happened

i know that law all too well
local stores charge a buck-a-rooni per bag here

Not mutch yeller YJ.
We learned that Baja 1000 is not offroad & manuel is more better than auto.
Kewl Ouray pics.
SoCal is still sick but working on bumper anyway.
Gotta bring own bags in california or spend 10 cents.
I think that bout does it.

dumont or eureka?

Ya. I left innawoods and going to spend the night at a friend's house so I can wash my dick. Am on a computer and probably going to head back innacity at 3pm

>supposed to be a 5 hour trail ride around
>jeep tank blows a tread 1 hour in
>spend 6 hours fixing it
>dribe 200m
>over rotates as pictured here
>sun sets
>spend 1 hour working on it and seeing if i can turn around on the trail
>decide not to risk it incase taynger gets the stucc too
>sleep there for 7 hours
>wake up in the morning and rotate the tread
>manage to leave the trail on a shortcut and get back in time
The hard part was getting his kids back to camp which meant spending around 3 hours walking back and forth and hitchhiking from the local snowmobilers. We also had to push a fucking 100lb toolbag, car jack, wooden frame, and logs up a 45 degree hill since the snowmobile couldn't tow the rest of the shit up the hill.
Holy god was that exhausting.

This thing is pretty cool just way too wide. Very good for dirt but its first time s n o w r o l l i n g so that's the downside.
Its overheating power steering smells like cedar fire, though, which was pleasant when riding behind it for 75% of the duration.

Eureka via Saline Valley > Steel Pass

Also!
(not a bad thing desu)

The autos have serious benifits in the small off roading applications. Ease of use being most of them. Heavy offroad vehicles like logging and farming vehicles, always go manual. They take torque without slipping. Your jeep isn't putting 400 flbs of torque off the crank though.

I don't think it's stupid. Less blastic means more birds. Though they're starting to make biodegradable ones actually biodegrade. So once we get that done, all the birbs will be happy and we can shoop happily, too.

Painting the truck and welding the bumper

do you have to pay for your bags in canadia?

also i get paying for plastic but paying for paper is straightouttajewland

Are you yellow YJ guy?

...

>2.14mb
>jpeg
>this blurry
The birb above you has more definition and it's only 0.145MB.

needs a gunrack in the back window

>be me
>be a bird
>not know how to into files

It depends on the city. For example, in Toronto, we had a 5 CENT bag tax which was perfectly fine. That's good.
Then Mayor Rob Ford got rid of the bag tax which was whatever.
But all stores still charge five cents a bag still. I talk to cashiers and tell them the date that we removed the bag tax and they don't even know that shit. Just like our sales tax here.

I-I-I have one too...

the gunrack is actually bellow the rear window but I usually just prop up something against the rear window
(sorry for bad pic)

>Mayor Rob Ford
didn't he stroke out on coke?

every single canadian i know has a gunrack
i too have a gunrack on 67' ranger

glad to hear you have one as well
what pew pew is that

>Mayor Rob Ford
kek that guy was the man

How's this for Canadian:
>we threw 2 flyrods in the gunrack
>sweet tea biscuits on your lap
>sing to brown eyed girl on the guitar in the barn bridge shade
>i'd number your freckles
>and times your fishing line gets tangled
>honey do you remember those good old lazy days

Also bls bost F-100. Where are you on the map? Come to Onterrible.

>no tim horton gear
nice haul man

>f-100
it's back home in portland
thing is on it's last leg
>tfw 351w installed in '96 is the only decent thing about my pos trash hauler

i threw a rod in the original 390
no pics sorry

also
wtf is this
is this tay

(me)
i'm the fjc dood in the gay area

15/22 with a black dog drum, for the most part I just use it for shooting cans but I figure I could knock out somebody's radiator if they decided to give me trouble.

>15/22 w/black dog drum 50rnd
yissssssss
mississippi isn't all bad

...

beautiful rifle man

...

...

...

22lr can be pretty potent in the right hands.
itll do a lot more than pop a radiator if needed

Uh.

Also, everyone knows Tim Horton's switched to black tar suppliers and McDonald's picked up their old supplier. So McDonald's coffee used to be Tim's standard... unfortunately much better

I've also got a 20g rem express which is priddy noice I guess

>tfw my next buy is going to be an AK yugo underfolder and I will keep it under the seat
:3

hard to go wrong with a shotgun.
never shot a 20ga though, pretty mild?

>short enough to chuck into the back of the car
>still having the length of a hunting barrel
>full choke so really tight pattern
>has a comfortable amount of recoil so you don't get tired of shooting it
(I've never owned a 12 gauge with a pistol grip but the fudds on youtube keep saying "muh wrist")

the only real problem is that the ugly kit on it is actually 12 gauge parts that have been melted and filed down in a kitchen guncraft manner, they work just fine though

no threaded choke? ive become really partial to my polychokes on my old 12ga
>muh fudd guns
well almost, 7.62x39
great little truck gun though

but senpai it is a threaded choke

How the fuck do you operate the clutch, brake and gas on a tacoma when on a really angled hill?!?! Am I supposed to just slam my dick on the brake while my two feet use gas and clutch!!!
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

testing senpai senpai senpai senpai testing

you can't say
f a m
on Veeky Forums

heel and toe faggot, also use parking brake

put trug in low ranger it should help with stalling

>compact guns
>T97 bullpup chinkman gun
Folds up into half my gun case which means I can carry two of these bullpups with one rifle case

Niqqa use that weird-ass handbrake

tfw my e brake is a pedal....

The early 4runners and Tacomas have this weird-ass handbrake inboard from the steering column

Meant for

>tfw driving manual for 3 months
Fuck hills. They are my mortal enemy. Fucking bumper to bumper traffic, up a hill in houston.

White 4runner guy here. My stock front shocks are going out and I'm looking to put performance shocks and possibly a 2 inch lift in on the front end.
I'm fairly new to suspension and off road car stuff and I'd like to know what a few good options might be. I have floor jacks, stands, an impact, and general tools, but I've never done much suspension work myself though. Halp ? /org/

learned in a manual, family only owns manuals, get it together

>mfw fucking Staceys on their phones will be less than a inch away on a hill start

back the fuck up why do you have to get so close REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

get bilstein 5100's, 100 bucks a piece, and super nice, I just replaced my front shocks with them and it is a world a difference in my front end, so nice i'm going to buy rear ones now.

make sure you get a alignment afterwords, some t-cases can get really fucked up with uneven tread wear
