How many DPI do you use in desktop and in-game?
I've used 400 DPI for a few years now and I use 1.8 sens in-game. However sometimes when I'm on the desktop it's a hassle to have it so low (have to drag the mouse from one side of the mousepad to the other) but it also gives me more control on other things such as Photoshop. Should I keep 400 DPI or is it worth giving up control for speed?

I'd suggest learning crosshair positioning (always keep it at head level and spots where the enemy might come out from) and improve game sense.
