With the R390 however, only one road car was made and it was never sold. It's displayed in Nissan's museum in Zama

But I'm still interested in the GT1 homologation models. The rules said that in order to get homologated for GT1, you'd have to make 25 road going versions of the car. But it seems like Mercedes were the only ones that actually made more than 25 cars

Toyota and Nissan only made 1 or 2 cars, sold to their own museums
Porsche only made 2 cars of the first generation 911 GT1, and 20 of the second one
Lotus only made 1 Elise GT1
Panoz only made 2 Esperante GTR-1s, though you could still order one today that Panoz will make if you got the cash

So did all of these manufacturers convince the FIA that they were gonna make the 25 cars later? Did they have to pay a penalty? Was any manufacturer ever disqualified from a race because they didn't obey this rule?

The problem with people picking supercars as dream cars is that they only like them because they are supercars. This is the kind of person who will have a different dream car next year because something else caught his eye. Kind of like when someones dream car is something that hasnt even been out for 2 months.

Most of the supercars posted here are from the 90s, I'm guessing it's more a matter of historical importance or childhood wow factor than just being the next fatest thing.
