Gambling is just entertainment, unless you go full autistic on the cards.

I used to stake a few of my frat brothers in college who played poker at a local casino. That is until one of them ran off with a couple grand of my money when he graduated.

I'm at +$500 for slots on the year (I actually never gambled myself until this year).

For low denomination slots, you will always return toward the mean that is, to a net zero. You may end up ahead or a little behind but chances are you are never going to get any good gainz. This is, in my experience, due to the type of people that play quarter and dollar slots. They're there to enjoy the atmosphere and have fun, and generally spend more money on booze / food: they're not real gamblers.

Penny slots (where people max bet for $2.00 - $6.00) can get you huge gainz but the payout ratio is usually lower (i.e. you're going to lose your shit).

Higher denomination slot machines are extreme money makers for the casino (avoid like the plague).

As a rule, I only spin a machine 5-10 times. If it doesn't hit, it doesn't hit. I then move on.

This strategy generally only works on the "bingo machines" in tribal casinos. They're not entirely random, so you have a miniscule edge over those in non-tribal casinos. Non-tribal casinos generally use random number generators in their slot machines these days and I would stay away.

In all honesty though m8, gambling is a game and a way to waste time. It's fun to overthink and strategize, but it's impossible to really make money on anything other than poker.

Poker and sports betting can always be +ev (if you know what you're doing), blackjack can be +ev with counting, casino games will always be -ev

Poker is literally the only game in the casino that you have any possibility of winning in the long run. This requires discipline and long hours and is not anything like the glamorous "poker pros" on TV. Still, it beats wagecucking.

Took a shot at 50PLO Zoom and got my ass raped by the poker gods. I've never run this bad in my life. Lost 11 out of 14 coin-flips. I'm like $1.5k below ev. Fucking breaks my heart having to move back down to the micros knowing that I can be a decent winner at low stakes.

Maybe consider looking for a stake? Most only care about your adjusted.

Yeah I should have specified. I only play the games that are winnable. I wouldn't waste my time playing the loser games anyways.

I would say poker then, get harrington on holdem, study it then work your way up through stakes (skip rake heavy games)

> sports betting
> deposited $100 last week
> bet only on head to head matches with extremely high odds of winning
> reinvest winnings into next bet
> current account balance $488

Growth is exponential in this method

Do you look for a good value in the odds? Or just look for matches with a very high chances of winning?

until one of the teams / athletes get a shitty game and you lose everything even though all odds were stacked with you (see golden state warriors loss)

Made 400€ with betting on Trump

Yeah this is terrible. Just Kelly it..

22 now hit one jackpot for 1500 at a casino then won 900 another time but just lost 500 last week

One of my childhood friends is 22 (as am I), he runs/plays at poker tables. He bought his own home with a pond and 3 acres ($50gs cash from a desparate man who needed the money, in Alabama) last year.

He travels to vegas semi frequently to play poker as well. He has a job to cover his paper trail, but he probably has more money than most see at 22, without having a wealthy family or whatever.

I on the other hand make $8 an hour wagecucking, barely saving...
He keeps telling me to come hang out with him.. I really should, hoping he'll teach me the game or some shit and cut me in

Put 20£ on a Trump win and won £104. Not much, but felt good.

lol travels to vegas... just move to Tijuana and play properly.

not since trump, but i'm planning to bet on low nielson ratings for the supes bowl.

Are you? Even though you dunno what the odds are? Do you know how betting works?

What about roulette guys? I had made decent money with playing it

who /bet/ here

Any advice for sports betting. I've made a little hear and there and have developed some of my own rules but I'm curious as to what others think.

MINUS EV

main advice:
Bankroll managment (lookup Kelly criterion)
Only bet on singles
Nearly always bet on non-mainstream events
Never use cashout or similar features
research, study, create and test models etc..
You can be in profit for a year or so but still be a losing sports better if you don't know what you're doing
Most people are completely clueless when it comes to sports betting, even so called tipsters
If you are succesfull you will have to be opening new accounts in friends/ families names, or betting on places like Pinnacle or SBO which don't restrict but the volume is mostly from decent sports betters so the good lines don't last long.

Any questions feel free to ask, I lived off sports betting for 3 years before it become too tiresome to open new accounts.

I knew an English guy who was a soccer freak
In soccer you often have a good idea of who is going to win just because you have some shit teams and other good teams
He would bet a couple hundred and back who he thought would win for the entire 9 games of that weekend
So after the first game won it would keep bankrolling until he would win several grand off his measely 2 or 3 hundred
Of course if one team loses you lose all your money

yeah terrible advice ignore all this.

That's rough man. Go back down and build that roll up and take another shot later once you've got the cash.

>non-mainstream
Yeah, I made most of my money here before I got greedy

>Never use cashout
How come?

i know the casino has a slight edge in blackjack..but i won $5600 last week. people say the house always wins..but if you beat the house and never return to the house, doesnt the player win?

Basically the odds you get have to be greater than the perceive expected value for it to be a +ev bet, bookmakers give you the option to cashout because it gives them a further chance for the odds to be in their favour. Maybe use cashout if you've mistakenly placed a bet, but only then. Basically bookmakers will try and get the odds as close to 0ev as possible and then add on their vigorish (like a house margin) when you use cashout you are actually paying the vig again, so any edge you may have gained is almost definitely gone by then.

The idea behind that statement is the average winner will keep coming back for more and eventually lose. Also that there are a greater amount of losers than winners at the end of the day.

yeah, the house always wins also doesn't mean everyone loses, the house can win as well as some people winning, of course all casino games have negative expectation so no one will win long term, only sports betting and poker profitable without cheating/ counting/ edge finding etc..

true, true..most people are dumb as fuck in the casinos. playing side bets, playing slot machines and roulette. never knowing when to leave

Check out for sports betting advice.
I've been helping a couple of people out there.

Last week I made around $6000 - no matched bets, no arbitrage.
