If it's the motor you're thinking of, every gen they just do little tweaks to the motor that was thought or was a problem in previous gen, like a change of turbo's, improved cooling system or a change of exhaust materials.
2017 R35 is just a facelift with some tweaks to the motor but similar interior features.
