Cuck

Pinochet saved Chile from this future

Chileans should be more thankful

I don't know much about this guy, but damn, he really has great fashion sense.

All Chileans do

Let's just forget how Argentina was much better before neoliberalism than after it.

>You hate communism so it must mean you support neoliberalism

What did he mean by this?

>Pinochet and the Argentinian dictators weren't neoliberals
What did he meant by this?

Can anybody explain what the pros and cons of Pinochet was?
Or is he a dictator the likes of Park Chung-Hee (South Korea), Chiang Kai-Shek (Taiwan), and Lee Kuan Yew (Singapore) that developed their countries into strong economic powerhouses?
Any similarities, differences between the two situations?

No love for the Generalissimo?

iirc most of the growth, reduction of poverty, and increase in employment happened after pinochet left office

>some random American puppet caused economic growth
>not the millions of USD pumped into the economy

Pinochet, Park, they're all fucking useless dindus. If you believe otherwise you're braindamaged. They did more damage than good if Anything.

Google "chicago boys"...

These two coups show that anarchism, what's called an unrealistic belief is actually much more pragmatic than reformism or democratic socialism. The CNT in Spain were much more radical than Allende's government, but because they worked outside of the law and the political system they were able to hold out for three years and organise a much more effective resistance.

>>not the millions of USD pumped into the economy
Wait, aren't we pumping billions of USD to other countries during that time and even now and they're all still fucked up and shit?

Japan and South Korea have done pretty well for themselves.

They're not the only countries that the US pumped a large amount of money from the time of the dictators circa 1945 to 1989.

so in some cases it worked but in others it didn't

One was a coup and the other a civil war between two pretty equal forces that lasted 3 years. And the anarchist didn't fight the nationalists alone.

So it obviously means the US pumping money isn't the reason that they had strong economies. (or the sole reason).

>Hold out for three years

You're giving them too much credit

Franco wanted to slowly bleed them dry to deter uprisings. The anarchists showed no real resistance on the defense and they lacked the coordination to re-take lost territory

If he listened to his German advisors the war would have been over in a month. The only reason it would have lasted a month is because of the Soviet officers without them Franco would have been done his war by dinner time.

Because you're mostly giving those billions of dollars to the opposition forces of said countries.

e. g.: Libya and Syria

It would have just been a coup if it wasn't for the anarchists stockpiling illegal weapons. The so called Popular Army didn't exist in 1936, it was just the militias holding the line, the air force and about half of the police force and navy. The anarchists beat the uprising in most places it was beaten and then organised 50% of the militias.
The Nationalists were very confident initially that the coup would be successful in Barcelona though.

>So it obviously means the US pumping money isn't the reason that they had strong economies. (or the sole reason).

100% of South Korean growth in the 50's was American aid.

SAGE AND HIDE

and by center-left governements like the current

>uses ifunny
>calls other cucks

I'd rather use iFunny than be a puppet of foreign power.

The army officers were loners who were disliked by the navy and the air force. The few naval officers who joined the rebellion did so mainly because they were loyal to some army general instead of ideological loyalty. The air force became a non-issue after they were rekt by Goering.

And while the officers were sure the coup would be swift the soldiers themselves were too afraid to leave their bases in leftist dominated areas like Valencia because they'd be met with pissed off commies and the navy

Also Franco blew his load too early in Morocco

Why are Prussian uniforms so beautiful?
Question:
Chile has never lost a war they've fought, haven't they?

Pinochet was a cunt. Allende was a cunt.

Allende was finished near the end of his reign anyway and giving power to a wolf like Pinochet was unnecessary and a mistake.

America's goal was to prevent a soviet aligned state emerging on the continent that could open up supply routes to guerrillas in South America's interior. As long as they didn't have Moscow's dick in their mouth they didn't really care what happened. There was no evil conspiracy by business interests, they could never have that much control over someone like Pinochet.

Literally the reason why Chile is so prosperous today. Also gave out free helicopter rides

user, let me tell you something that might be very spooky to hear

Government policies take time to have affects

That is true, but Pinochet's corrupt backwards dictatorship had to end before we could see the positive effects also.

Maybe it was Allende´s legacy which make Chile grow.

>doesn't know the ironic ifunny meme
geez, visit the other boards sometime

That was ironic, right?

Chilean economy is copper based.

Allende nationalized the copper production, allowing the internal control of the copper market, wich gave the economy the stability it has today.

This was never changed even when all of the state industries were selled to private owners, including, water, gas, roads and electricity.

The nationalization of the copper reserves, was his main campaign and goverment plan.

As you you can clearly see in this chart, the years where Chilean economy was below the latin america average were the Pinochet years, it went up a lot since he left.

And a lot more once he died.

Pinochet's economic policy from '73 to '82 was a mess, and his handling of the '82 crisis was so disastrous that Chile was affected more than any other country on the continent. As a result, he had to backpedal many of his policies and intervene the banking system. The growth Chile experience under the dictatorship was completely dwarfed by the growth under concertacion governments, and the latter actually decreased poverty in the process.

Claiming Pinochet is to be praised for growth 10 - 20 years after he left office is laughable.

>almost no net growth from 1973 to 1990

Pinoshitcucks will defend this.

Isn't he one of those dictators that

>libertarians

idolize because "fug da gommies :-DDDD"

?

I heard that the job market for helicopter pilots was pretty good.

You've been memed op. The only reason /pol/ cunts like him is the helicopter rides.

No, you're a pathetic minority. Never forget it.

No, stalled out pretty badly terrily. He's basically remembered as well as he is because he was a messy, embarrassing mistake that neoliberals got way too excited for, and people like to remind them of it.

Then somewhere around last year, edgy teenagers on the Internet started jerking off to him to be contrarian.

If it wasn't for Pinochet, Chile would be looking like Venezuela right now.

Nice meme

>hated by the entire population of my country
This isn't close to being half true
t. Chilean diaspora

Bingo. There's a reason Pinochet isn't universally reviled in Chile - Allende was shit, and he was overthrown for a reason. The coup in Chile was as "legal" as it could get. The Chilean legislature asked Pinochet to overthrow Allende

From my experience with Chileans, they seem to appreciate Pinochet for saving them from Allende, but they hate him for the corruption and oppression that followed. From their perspective, he ruined a revolution.

Venezuela and Hugo Chavez are state capitalists not socialists .

The majority still hates him. Only rich people and fachos pobres love him.

>if you don't become a brutal, corrupt, murderous right-wing dictatorship you will turn into Venezuela

Why are right-wingers so retarded? I'm legitimately appalled some people honestly see the world this way.

Pinocchio was a shit imitator of ibañez and allende was a hippie who choose the worse team to support and time to win the ellections. Legit the only thing that fucked ibañez was the great depression and because it hit chile like a nuke. Even then he majestically fixed things enough so it had a fighting chance at survival. shame he lost his gallant bravado as he got old; he would have been a great leader of a chilean empire (every single coup planned during his lifetime wanted to place him in power; even those he was not in at omfg)

>saved
he legit destroyed a telex control system which was peak technology of the time because it was "too socialist"
>saved
he drove away international relation with his overzealous half assed attempts at opressive action during the first half of his regime and could not fix the recession until the 82'
>SAVED
his regime killed more innocent, not communist, not even left wing groups; increased social segregation; fucked infrastructure; sold national property and industry to friends and foreigners; and caused the social base for the crime hell brewing today in chile; even bringing connections to drug lords to settle and colonize this place.
>FUCKING SAVED???
thanks to him and his shitty government the socialists got control of the government for almost two decades after he left; popularizing the previously disliked socialist party.

>should. be. thankfull.
application of free economics was shitty at best; and a trainwreck which murdered small industry at worst.

Legit the only good think he did was build a speed way that covered almost all of chile. Everything else was a piece of crap that had to be fixed as soon as he left.

>tfw pinochet tried to remove the prussian element and uniforms of the military and was told to fuck off

>almost no net growth from 1973 to 1990

Really.

Pro: you get to try Free economic policies for free and every nation gets the research time of neoliberalism halved
Cons: +3 to comunist rebels +6 to Socialism upon removal +10 to corruption -8 to military tradition

Nope; never. Mostly by the sheer power of foreign friends and equipment and smart use of the bravado of the army.
>tfw both the first use of the torpedo against a ironclad and the first amphibious landing into combat were done by chile.

dude are you really that blind or are you just baiting?

Don't forget the land reform; which is considered by the IMF as the main reason the food and land use of chile could get efficient enough to be privatized and exploited properly and with profit.

>tfw the main party asking for it had backed down and the coup planners learned of this and fast forwarded the action before it was known by the public.

not an argument

Populism of this kind ruined all Latin American countries.

Chile should count itself lucky it escaped "Ibañismo". That's actually a bigger factor in it's prosperity than the Pinochet regime.
