Road of Sacrifices and Crucifixion Woods is largely SL30 territory. Going through Farron Keep, you'll probably want SL35 or so.

Not really. Casuals will do shit like summon NPCs, and Anri and Gotthard combined are able to tear Pontiff a new one with minimal contribution from the player.

Now, if there were only one available NPC summon before Pontiff, like with Abyss Watchers, or no summon at all, then he would be a casual filter.
