>"seriously, you didn't know this, user? haha, i thought you're studying history"
when will these people ever learn that there is no "history" in general but "history of X" and that studying history doesn't mean to know every event that happened in the past but to critisizing sources, knowing where to find shit, seeing other perspectives, discussing on historical issues etc
>... studying history doesn't mean [SIC] to know every event that happened in the past[,] but to [CRITICIZE] sources, knowing where to find shit, seeing other perspectives, discussing on historical issues[,] etc[.]
STUDYING HISTORY DOES CONSIST IN KNOWING HISTORY, MORON; IT IS PSEUDOINTELLECTUALS AND PROFESSIONAL PSEUDOACADEMICIANS —LYCEANS— LIKE YOURSELF THAT ARE THE BANE OF "THE HUMANITIES"; YOU DO NOT CARE FOR THE TRUTH, NOR ARE YOU CAPABLE OF RECOGNIZING IT; YOU ONLY CARE AND ARE ABLE TO APPREHEND MERE DATA, AND "PEER REVIEWED" INFORMATION, SO ABSTRACTED AND SKEWED THAT IT HAS VIRTUALLY NO RELATION WITH REALITY, YET, YOU DARE TO CALL YOURSELF A "HISTORIAN".

is my country, History of the middle ages is almost 100% French-German Feudalism as an economic system, and its evolution.
The reason for that is the influence of Marxism, so, almost all we see is the transition from slavery to feudalism, and from feudalism to capitalism.
We dont really see much, or anything of the Crusades, or the 100 years war, or the Mongol conquests, or the ecumenical coincils, or the roman-orthodox split, and I can continue with more things we dont see.
You have to study a lot on your own, because you want to, to cover all the empty wholes in History, stuff you dont see in college.
This also depends on the professor you get/pick

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You regularly swan into threads to drop wee little turds of statements which are often entirely incorrect; but when they aren't you abbreviate as much as possible in order to make yourself look superior by making your answer seem obvious and objective, completely stripping out any sort of nuance in the process. Almost everything you write is psuedointellectual bullshit, but you are the only one getting high on your supply.
James Martin
Argentina, I used hyperbole, but at least 2 thirds of the professors are like that.
And then a lot of Frenchmen, some who I think have not been translated into English and must be quite unknown there, Pierre Bonnassie, Charles Parain, Pierre Villar, Georges Duby, among others.
Eli Green
You'll grow to get used to it.
Eli Collins
I got a similar opinion about spanish university when I was in the university of Barcelona, but I think I had better luck with my teachers. Also in that uni Medieval History of Spain and Medieval History of Catalonia are mandatory, not just the universal Medieval History. In those more specific subjects teachers spend a bit more time dealing with historical events (at least the ones I had).

Stop razonalizating your lack of commitment to the study and actually do something to change it.

>you study psychology user? So what can you tell about *random tipical guy*?
I wish normies were less interested on finding each others secrets and hidden weakpoints
Asher Harris
do you think it's because their mindset is weak and thats why they want to spot the weakpoints of the others? serious question, read something about Neuro-linguistic self programming and started to think that every insult or offense behavior comes from insecurity
Zachary Gray
Of course. Knowing the hidden weakpoints of others brings a sense of control over them and comes with some sadistic pleasure knowing that you have the upper hand above that person on a confrontation. Its a "I can hurt you if i want, so you'd better watch out" kind of though and of course it reveals the kind of "world" this person lives.

>"oh you study linguistics? How many languages do you speak?"
Isaiah Hill
linguists are generally expected to fluently speak 3 languages, user
Wyatt Lee
like, where did this expectation come from that because you have some special seal of approval, your skills no longer can be questioned?
if you're a shit human being who is useless, people are allowed to call you out on it
"I'm an acrobat" "do a cartwheel" "no, user, I'm a SOUL acrobat, all of the important stuff is done in my SOUL where you can't see it. don't question me."

someone studying to be a linguist though
someone training to be an acrobat though
Parker Foster
I mean, it depends on how well-known the thing is. If I found out you majored in history but didn't even know what the 30-years war was then I'd think you were an idiot, even if you specialized in ancient history, because that is common knowledge.
Charles Diaz
I literally considered studying psychology in order to compensate my social autism that borders asperger. Then I realised that feature of myself would make me a terrible psychologist.

OP is a bit of a faggot thugh for not being able to deal with how layman act about his supposed branch of knowledge. I'm sure he does the same with let's say math.
Brayden Evans
I disagree, user. Understanding what it is like to be influenced by a disorder gives you a lot of first had experience to empathise with others. Having to deal with autists on a daily basis on the other hand...
Caleb Watson
Well thank you for telling me this between 5 and 7 years too late, user.
No, now seriously, thanks. Might look into the subject although I'm obviously not gonna throw everything to the thrash and go to uni again to do psychology.
Nicholas Reed
I know a couple of people who have taken the 'scenic rout' though academia, never to late to take a course.
Brayden Wright
It's absurd to insinuate that he should educate himself in ALL aspects of history - an impossible task.
