What are the consequences of putting bigger wheels on your car...

What are the consequences of putting bigger wheels on your car? I was on tirerack and there are optional wheels that are far bigger than the factory. But I've heard in the past that it's not a good idea. What's Veeky Forums take on it? Does anyone have any personal experience doing it?

worse acceleration
worse mpg
speedo will be off
can make handling worse
can make the ride more harsh

I though bigger wheels made the ride smoother?

not when you end up with too low of a profile tire

youre usually fine going +2 inches

Oh I see, so basically there are zero benefits performance wise? So pretty people do it for cosmetic points?

oh no there are performance advantages

taller wheels will stop better

people usually go bigger to get better tire options too

you go bigger and wider up to a point

>taller wheels stop better
>more mass further from the center stops better

Bigger wheels are needed to clear big brakes

literally look at the chart

Because of tire width moron.
Not wheel height.
Fucking idiots here...

literally the same width as a smaller wheel

still stops better

goddamn you are fucktarded

but you get wider tires option when you chose a bigger wheel size

Go read again... then kys
Not true. You can buy 15x10 wheels or whatever. They make them.

>235 vs 195 width

>225/40r18
126 ft
>225/45r17
128 ft

fag

>he doesnt know how to read tire size
Hahahaha moron

LOL wut......

16x225
18x225
Somehow the 18 is wider.

LOL you take HS physics and like to take what you learned and apply them to completely unrelated things? Neat bro.

wow

know you are looking like a complete retard

...so the 18 inch wheel stopped.....better.........than the 17 inch wheel.......

What is margin of error?

The rest are pretty consistent.

slower car = stops faster

He wider tire stopped (A WHOPPING 2FT) faster.
The wheel had nothing to do with it.

The highest performance tyres tend to come at a minimum of 19" these days.

JUST

>putting aftermarket wheels on your car
Shiggy diggy. Find some oem wheels you like or save money for something more responsible.

THICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

oh and the grill is qt 2

ew a grill

no

what are the consequences of putting bigger tits on your girlfriend?

yes

Exactly how I like em, full package

Whos this fluid druid

Spotted the genius who can think outside the box

Here ya go

>(A WHOPPING 2FT)
which means in 9 corners you will gain a car lenght.
Not to mention wider tyre means more grip meaning you'll gain more than a car lenght due to better cornering speed.

We're talking about a sport where a second is about 5 dog years

but if 1 second is 5 dog years and one dog years is 7 human years then
1 second on the track is equal to 35 human years!

if you go bigger, you can under inflate them while still keeping the proper pressure for your suspension making a smoother ride

well yeah. breaking power is connected to surface area.

pretty much.
Corvette is 14 years slower than gtr

...

Bigger tires do.

>35 ton haul truck. Worst spine crushing ride of ever.
>90 ton haul truck. Bumble along and sway your back ache away.

Pic related. Piece of shit euc i used to have to drive with my left foot because i could stand up and shove my right foot thru the floorboard all day. Seriously piece of shit...

Bout to cut my bed for 15x18. Go big or go ina ditch

As long as you get a proper camber adjustment afterwards, no real problem.

If you're talking 4x4 size, make sure the brake lines are long enough for the greater full flex distance.

Also you're raising the centre of gravity, if your car is some shitbrick tall narrow skinny car, you're gonna be a road smear on your first freeway moose test

Cool that's my car, and since I have the manual my 0-60 is probably like 7.5 or 7.4

>speedo will be off
Bigger wheels, not tires, retard

Ay good looking senpai

you have more contract patch of rubber to slow the car down through friction
the tires do all the work when it comes to stopping, which is aided by the brake pads and engine breaking forces
with less grip the tires would lock up and slide and trigger abs so you can't use all the brake power your car has
