Pic obviously related

That's a Ford Laser mate.

The Escort GT / Mercury LTS is a nice DOHC Mazda to romp around in. Shame they are mostly forgotten and gone now.

No, its clearly a skyline.
Moron.

*Tracer LTS

The Escort GT was never available as a sedan though So that would be an Escort LX with the 1.9L CVH engine.
eww.

Do you remember the LX-E trim?

No. my mom had a 94 LX wagon. Some days I miss that thing... Then I remember the CVH engine, and the troubles the automatic transmission gave her and I'm fine.

The cupholders were shit so she'd spill her coffee all over the gear shifter every winter. Well, the coffee would freeze making it impossible to shift the fucking thing. It happened so often, she called up Ford to complain.
Ford told her not to drink coffee in the car.

It has a KLZE engine in it

Oh yeah I had forgotten how shallow they were. Poor design.

It's a neat swap but it's so much work.
You need the subframe, transmission, axles, and wiring harness from a Mazda MX-3, then you need the engine an ECU from a Ford Probe GT or Mazda MX6 V6.

All of which are harder to find these days.

But back in the 2000s this was a good swap for old Mazdas n shit.

Still, that V6 noise, with the looks of an Escort?

Nice bathtub.

>Automatic
Hahaha

>automatic
>fun to drive
???

Why have Americans consistently gotten the worst Ford offerings in the world, when Ford is an American company?

It's not just the upholders, but the shifter as well. She replaced the Escort with a 95 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 that eventually became my first car. She spilled coffee on the Chevy's shifter every year like clockwork and it never froze up on her.

Also the Monte Carlo was frustrating in its own way because it only had 1 cupholder.

Because, apparently, it's Ford's DUTY to undercut everyone in price.
It's why the F150 lags behind the GM trucks in reliability. Actually Fords in general lag behind GM products in reliability. Hell just look at the Mustang Ecoboost and the problems it has, then compare that to ANY version of the Camaro.

Ford cheaps out on EVERYTHING in the US because they're afraid if they don't undercut their principal competition, no one will buy their shit.

Because Americans are a special breed of cuckish beaten housewife.

Maybe your mom needs to stop drinking and spilling her morning joe all over the place. Save it for when she gets to work.

says the fagepeon

I'm not implying anything about Americans. I get that they get the worst of Euro and Jap cars because they've had a lot of terrible, terrible legislation on emissions and body styles but we had turbo CVHs and shit like that... From an American company.

She did that in 2008 when she died.

:(
Well, if she's driving in heaven on cloud power God isn't going to like her spilling his holy coffee all over the divine shift boot.

Americans did get the turbo CVH's briefly. It didn't go over well. 1982-1985, America did get a 1.6L CVH Turbo as an option. The normal 1.6 made 68 HP. The Turbo made 120.
The Turbo was replaced, in the American market, by the 1.9L CVH.
From 1985-1987, the 1.9L made 86 HP.
From 1988 to 1990, it went up to 90 HP.
There was a high output 1.9L.
1985-1987, it made 108 HP.
1988-1990, it made 110.

The only Escort I'd consider is the 90s GT with the Mazda motor in it. Fuck everything else.

This is embarrassing

What about the later Zetec cars? I like those. And they take to modifications well.

Not a fan of that late 90s jellybean design, and the interior was awful. Flat seats, same shallow cupholders, air-bags poorly designed into the dash, an instrument cluster design that looked cheap, with radio and climate controls integrated into the same plastics. It all kind of reeked of a "try too hard" futuristic design and it looks hella dated now.

The ZX2 S/R is an interesting car, tho. I have only seen one IRL. It was yellow, sadly I didn't have a camera. Rusty, tho.
