The east Med starts with the Adriatic, which was closed off to the ottos by then, and includes the Aegean, where the venetians kept doing their shit for centuries. So much for turkish playground. Not to mention that the ottomans expanded well into the western coast of the mediterranean, yet lacked any sort of naval presence on that end, having to rely on local pirates (that attacked the ottos as much as they did christians) for any sort of naval needs.
