usdm is not better, just cheaper and not by much if you are buying an AE86 GTS hatch that isn't rusted to shit.

you sound underage as fuck.

but I'll play along. If you want to import it you can check importers like pacificcoastauto. They have a website as well as a youtube of the type of stuff they import on the regular

pacificcoastjdm.com/

examples: youtube.com/watch?v=ziW0z8Dwtb8

youtube.com/watch?v=2z9L5Ouun0M

if you want to buy one that is already in the states (assuming you live here) you can buy from a place like japanese classic llc in Richmond, Virgina.

japaneseclassics.com/inventory/

they import the cars here themselves and do all the complicated paper work stuff done.

there are a premium on Ae86's ESPECIALLY JDM ones.

expect to pay at least $10k for these slow (but fun) shitboxes, but since you are asking on Veeky Forums and not doing your own research chances are you probably can't afford it.

>tfw want a levin coupe
>have to either import or go down to la and find a shitty conversion that costs twice as much as other 86s

or do the conversion yourself?

Mark my words. When I get a $80k+ job first thing i'm buying is an import. I wanna get a collection of at least 2 or 3 imports. Is this stupid? Will they hold value?

Not underage, just a fan... you know any places closer to colorado?

buying these cars as an investment is a terrible idea. They are (somewhat) cheap lightweight, rwd cars that are stupid fun at low speeds. you won't see any profit from any car at all unless you are getting into the millions of dollars.

just buy one for $10k when you can afford and hoon it on a twisty road/track.

dude I dont know, I just gave you a shit ton of information, most likely the closest place that'll have an importer is california or arizona, do your own damn research, this shit isnt hard at all.

Just know that youll still have to pay for shipping granted it won't be as much if you are getting it from either of those states.

You come off as underage because you aren't using your common sense.

Quit being a shit fuck, if you don't want to answer questions don't fucking do it, dingleberry.

stop shitting up this board with stupid questions

that is a very real consideration

underage b&

>buying these cars as an investment is a terrible idea
well, they aren't exactly getting any cheaper these days

>Will they hold value?
Probably, but I don't expect them to rise much in value as they're already expensive for what they are. They never approached E30 M3 tier pedigree and are pretty unknown to most who aren't specifically into Japanese cars.

That being said, I imported one and I don't plan on selling it, ever.

How do you plan to keep it running/not rotting 10 years from now?
Every time I spot a classic hot hatch, I think about where the fuck am I going to get parts for it, and decide against buying, same problem but worse for a jdm weebmachine i guess?

>I think about where the fuck am I going to get parts for it,

there you go with the stupid questions again

as if there arent any ae86 forums you can buy stuff off of or specialty shops, especially in Japan.

You have to pay to play faggot

>How do you plan to keep it running/not rotting 10 years from now?
Getting mechanical parts for AE86es is dead simple. And if there's no OEM parts left, there's an enormous aftermarket to choose from
Getting sheet metal for 86es is pretty easy as well, some reproductions are starting to pop up slowly as OEM stock dwindles. Prices are pretty reasonable.
Trim parts is the difficult thing. Window trim or rubber is almost impossible to get a hold of, so one has to really take care of these. Just the clips holding the rear quarter window trim is like 200$ for a kit, so I'm going to just sand mine and respray them in-place instead of taking them off and doing a more proper job.

Plus the ridiculous Toyota reliability means that it's absolutely no problem to keep it running for another 10 years. It'd even be possible to DD it for the whole time. Fortunately I have a roof for mine, so mine won't start rotting away.

>this is the average Veeky Forums poster
sometimes I wonder why do I even browse this board anymore
I'm buying one as a project car when I have the money and garage room to spare

Hey man, where was that picture taken?

>there are literally 0 stock AE86es being sold in your country
>only like 5 if you check all of white europe

There one tard who turned his into a trackbox and wants 20k for a rapebaby

>getting this autistic over a rwd econo can
I had an sr5-gts converted one and they're not what you think. Even with t3 suspention bits and swift springs it wasn't this magical dagumi mobile. If anything Miatas feel more that way

Klausenpass, Switzerland. The road down on the other side is even more fun than the road going up.

You have to be lucky to find one, or you have to accept going all the way to Portugal to pick one up. I kept ogling leparking for a while before deciding that it's worth all the paperwork and homologation-stuff to get an actual JDM one. leparking.fr/voiture-occasion/toyota-ae86.html
When I was checking last year, there were still some for 8000€ listed, now the cheapest is 10k€. That's about what I ended up paying for mine including shipping from Japan.

Also turns out that the Swiss model was different from the rest of the EU models, so I would actually have to do the same homologation with any imported AE86 as with this one. In Switzerland there's like two listed, starting at 18k€ or something ridiculous like that. No matter what, these little shits are fucking expensive.

>How do you plan to keep it running/not rotting 10 years from now?
It's a corolla.

>importing one
I might just walk into one of these import specialists and pay him to get me one with them flip ups and a bunch of spare parts some day

What country?

there was ONE being sold last year in Poland
stock, had the right engine, dumb orange wheels weird grey colour(not sure it it was just base coat or an actual paintjob)and it was 14k PLN (about as much as an S13 these days)

France, plenty of "exotic car" dealers around, mostly american imports though
>14k PLN
That's like, a giveaway, wtf

I looked up and it's for sale again
