The idea of FNAF 4 being darker relies entirely on it's mini-games, which ended up being a mistake.

You have no fucking reason to care about this eight-bit sprite that cries after getting scared by his brother and eventually chomped. There is no synergy between you and the protagonist, which is a mistake in a story-centric game.

The games have gotten anything BUT horrific with the series progression. Theme and atmosphere is essential to a horror story's tone. I highly recommend Thomas Ligotti's "Songs of a dead dreamer" for an example of this in action, by the way. Severely underrated writer. By stripping those two things from the series, as FNAF 4 has done, you leave it empty. Hollow, like Golden Freddy's suit. Coming back to FNAF 1, you have recurring elements that dig and hint at the true nature of things. The bloodshot eyes, the screaming, increasing aggression, ect. imply a manic insanity in the animatronics. The clues scattered about- disappearing children, an arrest, bleeding robots- lead to different explanations; none of them happy ones. A key part of this is that the game doesn't tell you this through cutscenes or tutorials. It shows you it, and lets you decide. There's a bit of moral complexity in the first couple games subsequently; where there are no definitive good guys or bad guys. Silver Eyes and the other games however, lean towards portraying the killer as a supervillain, and the animatronics as the good guys. Turning Freddy and co. into "Gamera, Friend of All Children" is a serious misstep, because it replaces the gray with black and white.

-The movie has been scrapped and it's getting remade from the ground up. Scott's apparently going to have more creative control. This is bad.

-FNAF World got released on mobile and immediately got pulled for being a broken mess. Scott made a statement that World is the FNAF-related thing he regrets the most and considers it to have singlehandedly nearly destroyed the franchise.

GEE, I WONDER WHY NO ONE LIKES THE 'SHITPOST WORLD' VERSION.

Scott made a miracle, listened to the 50 12 year olds that didn't like the old Atari look of World .0 plus the fact their favorite youtuber didn't want to play it and it defeated Scott, it broke him.

He remade the whole game in less than a day, made it even better.
Then he made Update 2, and it was fucking amazing, the Desk Guy dialog, the mini games, Chica's Rainbow, great voice acting, the self parodies and even more gallows humor. Anyone that played it loved it, It was the best damn RPG made in a while I dare even say. Only people who bitched about it were crybabies who didn't like the change in genres and reddit, going so far as to make a subboard because they hated it so much and they tried to even make a shitty meme about how 'bad' world is when 90% of them probably couldn't even beat the Auto-Chipper even if they had Funtime Foxy and auto cosmic chips!

The ironic thing is he may have gone to Reddit for the comfort but they were the ones who stabbed him, screamed and puked in his face over it in the first place, he should have stalked the general for a few days after making it for a more wholesome and honest view of World instead of 'WHY IS NT THIS A JUMP SCARE GAME WHY IS EVERYTHING BE LOOKING BED PLEASE UPVOE SO SCOTT SEE'

Nowhere has anyone said this, and it wasn't "scrapped", it was in development hell for a bit and it's now back on track. I know the general loves to act like Scott hates us and is the devil but try not to pull shit from your asses and call them facts.

I actually think most of the hate for it comes from people who are REALLY into the story, and wanted another horror game. I don't have much of an opinion, but it's really weird that THIS is the game that shake's people's faith in Scott, and not 2 or 4.

The "ditching practical FX" bit shouldn't have been in there, I agree. It made it sound like ditching it was a conscious effort on Scott's part. Shitty CGI is much cheaper though, and at the end of the day the jews running WB will likely fuck this movie up like every other release.
