The drift run can never beat the grip run. The drift run is just a performance to rile up the crowd, it's not a technique for driving fast.

unless on snow, ice and gravel.
How did that kid in the R32 who raced takumi fuck up so many times? the dude in the yellow dildo car said "the car basically does all the work" and compared to the AE86 he'd kinda be right as it (did) have ABS where as the AE86 didn't. and he still crashed and crashed.
In theory since the only reason people doriftu on gravel and snow is because the traction is so low compared to the power of cars.
Would it be possible that once cars get so powerful and fast that tarmac becomes unpaved?
Well, there are already cars so fast they can only really go in a straight line, just look at top fuel
bring your gtr to the speedway and we'll see which is fastest
Hey Takeshi, if the grip run is so great, why do you lose so fuckin' always?
Because it was a fucking cartoon, you dumb nigger.
Obviously.
You aren't pulling as many g's while sliding, so you're cornering slower. It's just physics
>drift car
>block entire width of road
>???
>always win if in front
What is the "pit" maneuver, Alex?
Purposefully drifting at retarded angles to block to road is a good way to get yourself set up to get spun. If you're gud you should be able to drift while maintaining speed, your line, and without deviating too far from your "lane". Shit, just watch videos of nips in the 90s doing that shit around the tooj, they're not going for ridiculous angles like at all in most cases.
When it comes to shtiboxes, no.
A really slow car that can't properly power out of a corner after slowing for muh grip is going to be BTFO by the driver that actually maintains his momentum and keeps the revs up as long as he doesn't go overboard.
have fun going for the ideal racing line when you'll probably die on the first blind corner if you leave your lane
NANI?!
Nope, even then grip>drift
wrong
see: literally any rally series
retard
Nope, even then the car with the most grip will be fastest
nope, because the car with the "most grip" will be going 2 mph in order to minimize slip, thus being the car with the "most grip"
Not entierly wrong, I beat bimmers and shit with twice my horsepower way lighter and actualy handling cars on snow and ice because muh awd
Still going through a corner I could either maintain full grip and go at 20 mph or I could go sideways and do 35mph
while rwd cars had to little grip to get to those speeds for that corner.
But still even with awd your choice is wether to go 20 mph through a corner and keep the grip or you can go full hektik and blast through there at 60mph sideways and barely in control
Your wrong. When the car's going sideways, you're not going forwards. The trick is not to slide much, so it doesn't slow you down.
????
point is not to go forwards and sideawys point is to take a corner sideways
lmao, there is no grip on snow or ice, the cars are always sliding, which ever car can slide the fastest with the most control is fastest. end ofstory
yes and when your sliding sideways your loosing speed and going slower.
>ice track
>max speed while keeping grip in corner: 5mph
>max speed through corner sideways:
20mph
????
It's obviously a balance otherwise rally cars wouldn't use off-road tires and prefer awd. Grip is the technically correct answer because it's also better in all other ways- braking and acceleration.
Practically, the answer to grip or drift is whichever allows you to leave a corner the fastest. Drifting makes sense if the push of the drive wheels into the corner allows you to go through a corner faster than if you only used the lateral traction of the tires.
This is true.
Grip is the same reason a 250cc 4 stroke motocross bike gets to 50km/h just as fast as a 450cc 4 stroke motocross bike gets to 50km/h.
It is also the reason why the new KTM MX bikes have traction control.
>on snow, ice and gravel.
That's called a failed grip run.
Doing ballet is a slower way to travel a given distance than sprinting. They are both impressive when done well.
what
????
...
if i get good at grip driving will i get a hot navigator gf
asking for a friend
>takes inside line forcing gtr off the track
typical bullshit
if this was a race the gtr wouldn't have given an inch causing the corolla(s?) to crash
It's basically just for show, yeah. But if you're good enough you can perform high speed drifting and you will look cool while not losing much time. This is the ultimate form of drifting.
He fucked up his brakes because the R32 is pigfat and began to understeer as the brakes wore out and the front tires wore down
also nakazato is a bad driver even though nothing in the show acknowledges it, he always eats the guardrail
