What's the stargate room for?

What's the most force a railgun could fire with? How much can you charge the best capacitor? And how far would it shoot? Could it actually cleave the station in half?

The Gateway is for away missions, which're basically just off-station adventures with probably ridiculous rewards (or just an army of xenos that're going to kill you).

I remember there being talk about away missions a long time ago. It sounds cool, but I've never seen or heard about anyone using it.

As an example, there was one a while ago that I decided to just stay in medbay for, but apparently the entire away team was killed by xenomorphs and the Captain's backup mysteriously vanished from the cloning computer.

The other day there was one in a multi-level pyramid. The round went on for almost five hours and they only ever got halfway through it, mostly because of the amount of monsters and the Captain spending like an hour trying to work out a button puzzle.

They rarely come up since they're guaranteed to fill the round with superweapons.

1. No, but it may be harder to see since the lights on the cameras (that only the AI can see) have less range than the room lights. Making a small room dark can in fact make it so the AI can see you, but you can't see shit.
2. No, bolted doors stay bolted when they lose power and when power is out, you can't unbolt them unless you use an energy sword.

You can explain it easily. The cameras are connected directly to the AI core.
The AI core rarely loses power since its SMES is off the grid and only powers one room.
