He'll surpass them, but not through asspulls. Asspull means that there was no prior indication, incidence, or foreshadowing, but you gave this character a new power just so they could get out of this convenient situation. Naruto and Sasuke being the Sage's reincarnated sons and getting corresponding powerups is an asspull. Izanami, and most of what Itachi does in general, are asspulls.

If you're a halfway decent writer, you can get away with almost anything without it being an asspull.

I don't really get it either, there's no evidence to say he's even real, or that he's an alien. I think people just want him to be real that badly.
