That's probably true, but remember for everyone with a 5 star Effie there's at least 10 unlucky souls whose best Blue roll is an Est. Besides word of mouth is a powerful thing. I decided to fully upgrade her as my first feather promotion and I have no regrets with her performance.

Alphonse and Anna being "shit" doesn't mean that Sharena isn't good relative to the rest of the cast. Her solid stat spread and utility make her a good fit for any team comp. She rightfully deserves her S-tier slot.

It's a lot easier to get a decent blue or red compared to green or colorless though. I mean I have Catria and Robin, which wasn't so hard. I ended up putting my 5*s into Roy and Anna. Roy was more of a luxury one, but Anna was a future investment because of skill inherit and because I have absolutely no good greens.

You're not wrong, but again I'm talking about perceived power here. She is a free unit that everyone has, and (whether you choose to believe in the tier list or not) there is a general consensus that she is one of the best Blues in the game and is thus worth the investment.

The only ones at her level currently are Effie (and why waste the feathers now if you could roll a 5 star one in the next banner) and Azura.

Most people didn't really know about the Effie banner until the datamine, which was somewhat recent. People could have easily had 20,000 feathers before then. Plus you're focused too much on blue, there are definitely characters that got feathered in other colors, even some weaker ones due to memes possibly. Not only that, Lucina was a banner character during the launch week, so I imagine a decent amount of people either rerolled for her or just managed to roll her in general.

Because the AI, to its credit, is smart enough to try to avoid the armor unit that they can't kill. That means you have to get Effie into their range so they'll attack her, and having only one move makes that a challenge.
Also, armor units always have to get into the range of 2 range units in order to attack them, so they're likely taking some damage. And since most of the good units in the game are glass cannons, they're going to do respectable damage even against the armor's defense/res.
And good luck finding a good starting position on the lava map. Or the four corners map. Or that map with all the water tiles. Hell, even the bridge map. Any map that benefits two range hurts armors twice as bad.
