Daily reminder that if you work under a car without jack stands...

Daily reminder that if you work under a car without jack stands, you're actually retarded and deserve anything that happens to you because of your disregard for safety.

>Jack stands

Don't you mean axel stands?

Also if the jack stand is rated at 3 tonnes, it's really only meant to support 1.5 tonnes.
Always use jack(axle) stands in pairs.

Kek not using a shop lift/being too poor to have one in your garage

The rating should be per stand. Doesn't mean for cheap shit it will be but it should be.

That's not true at all. Rating on the stand is how much that single stand will support. It would be idiotic and illegal to stamp it otherwise.

Though still no real reason not to use 2 as they're typically sold in pairs.

Why do people go on the internet and tell lies?

>Not having your own car lift
Kys

>not lifting the car with one hand and working on it with the other
Can people really not lift?

For anyone that's curious, the typical floor jack only has a very small check valve to hold pressure and keep the jack extended. If you only support your multi-thousand pound vehicle with a floor jack and then decide to crawl under it, you are literally betting your life on that check valve holding.

That looks more like a metal failure than a jack stand failure

Partially true.

I think the harbor freight set in particular claim 3 tons but that's total load for the pair.

Refer to manufacturer or packaging for specific details on your particular product.

Speaking of lifts, if you're in the market but cheaper than a Jew during a going out of business sale, check out Indianapolis Craigslist tools section. Search "lift."

How about this OP

Get a real driveway faggot

you cant pave your driveway with blacktop asshat

oh wait maybe thats the norm in the trailer park

I work on cars on my lift. They cost less than whatever shitty ebay turbo kit you were going to buy and last forever.

this is also retarded but not for safety reasons

>audifags

>disturbing public space
kill them all

Put some wood under her so she has an actual surface to put the weight onto

Our driveway and neighborhood tho, technically it's both allowed and private

cars are not as dangerous as you think just watch 4 men flip a 2k car

some guy working on an mr2 on the road in my city died when a car hit and run the back of it and it came off the stands.

That looks like a hole in the floor

>mfw i can get under my car and work without jacks or stands

im not fat so I can fit under my car without anything

I own a truck so most of the time I don't need jack stands to work under it.

My E24 was standing on this for months when I wasn't driving it, nothing happened.

What's an axel?

>tfw always have a nagging fear my ramps will fail on me

Axel doesn't typically stand at his concerts, weak ankles or some shit.

I miss my b5

family friend of mine in Winnipeg died under his stanced Volkswagen because the jack failed.

Slash went back to GnR?

who else has had a car fall off jack stands?

>I raised car up from diff and middle front jack point
>4 jacks perfectly where they should be
>do work on car
>lower down rear
>remove jack stands
>ask friend to do the fronts
>does them one side at a time
>front left off
>ask him wtf he didn't just do from middle
>says it's okay
>right side in air
>hear a metal creeking sound
>THUNG
>lucky all wheels and tires were on and nothing under it
>friend gives me shrug and we say 'all planned'
>minor dent on lower side

>manlet frame

>would like to work on my car
>Insanely afraid of being under the car
Considering doing my oil change next time on my own though, maybe redo the belts while im at it

Underrated

ya forget it Im just going to keep getting my oil change at canadian tire

just stick something under it that's bigger then your head if it comes off the stands, like wheels. Then give it a good shake and if it doesn't fall down you're good to go

>Ramps, jack, stands, and tire under car
>still afraid
just end me now senpai

Lose weight and crawl under it without lifting it

>trucks high enough I can do everything I need to do under the car sans brakes/tires without putting it on jackstands

would if i could actually fit my head under, too low user

wtf do people actually do this?

>not having a lift
How sad

DON'T DO IT LAD, JUST BUY A PNEUMATIC PUMP AND DO IT THAT WAY.

downside is you own a truck

>thinking that your "public space" is "disturbed" by having to see someone change their oil
kill yourself

Even with jack stands I leave the jack underneath just to be safe, put the car in gear with the parking brake on, chock the wheels and shove the car around to make sure it's stable. Even then I feel like I'm living on borrowed time while underneath it.

>not driving up on ramps and then jacking the car up using the core support and then also using jack stands.

you got your shit back to front nigga

if it's a 2 tonne stand it will support 2 tonne, and a pair will support 4

mfw I changed my front wheel bearings on a single trolley jack last week

Even with my car fully jacked up and jack stands under the frame I have less than an inch clearance between me and the frame rails, It feels a little sketchy at first but you get used to it.

I like using jack stands but still having the jack with a small amount of tension in the front or rear just incase.

I just get my stronk russian wife to hold the car up while I work under it

>work under a car without jack stands, you're actually retarded and deserve anything that happens to you
True story:
>Work underneath car without a jackstand.
>Win $25,000 on lottery ticket afterwards.
Fuck yeah! I got what I deserved!
