This thread is for all strategy games that do not have their own thread, focusing on 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate, genocide). /cbg/ /rtsg/ /wgg/
How fares your empire, /civ4xg/? Eris Quod Sum: The World is but my toy edition
>get spotted >"f-f-f-fcuk off because muh feelings"
True. Valkyria Chronicles and Advance War are closer to puzzle games than real strategy. Same with Homeworld, it's not strategy.
Kevin Kelly
2nd for genocide
Blake Allen
>get spotted OP told me to keep it in the other thread so I'm not going to argue about the definitions anymore, but I hope you realize that there's loads of people here who frequent /gsg/.
Oliver Foster
>I'm not going to argue >but I'll whine anyway because I'm autistic Lol okay. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Gabriel Moore
5th for Steel Division
Matthew Bailey
>Valkyria Chronicles and Advance War are closer to puzzle games than real strategy >being an actual 'everything that I don't like isn't real strategy' pro m8 I told you to keep it in the last thread you cancerous faggot, it'll still live for another 30 minutes.
Asher Barnes
I've been here for longer than you have and will be here when you're long gone, redditor. Unless you succeed in fucking Veeky Forums further down the hole, then maybe I'm out.
Christian Nelson
What happened to "I'm fucking off because I can't argue"? Oh, right, you're a liar on top of everything else.
Hudson Ramirez
When did I say I'm fucking off? Are you high now?
Jaxon Anderson
A liar on top of being autistic. What a nice combo.
Alexander Gray
ok
David Scott
SO HOW ABOUT THEM STRATEGIES ANY CIV V MOD REMAKES YOU'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR CIV VI, OR MAYBE JUST NEW MODS THAT LOOKS PROMISING?
Julian Cruz
4x isn't a definition for the genre, it's a description of the genre, a marketing one at that
look at how things are actually done, board game like tiles, the city management, typically turn based, the research, diplomacy, even the goodie huts etc.
games can deviate from this formula and still have enough familiar mechanics to label it 4X
whereas grand strategy games tend to not have cities in the same sense but has production spread all over the map
William Davis
pls just talk about something else like
Angel Flores
>ANY CIV V MOD REMAKES YOU'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR CIV VI
Easton Thomas
I'm enjoying it
Hunter Bell
>trying to argue against /gsg/ be like
Ian Peterson
ON THE ELEVENTH OF NOVEMBER AN INDEPENDENT STATE
Samuel Butler
>/gsg/ are civilized romans >people arguing against them are niggers
Charles Rivera
>niggers Back to /pol/.
Adam Lewis
Rome fell against 1) Barbarian hordes and 2) Itself. So I guess you got it pretty spot on there.
Charles Thomas
>trying to argue against /gsg/ be like
Julian Lewis
Nigger please
Tyler Gutierrez
t. nigger
Christian Green
>Romans >self-absorbed decadent faggot who fucked little boys and spent more time fighting each others than fighting the barbarians Seems accurate.
Austin Butler
t. G*rman
Julian James
>get banned yesterday for calling someone snownigger >all this
Why are mods such faggots?
Isaiah Thompson
I have no idea why you would have gotten banned for that.
Brayden Lewis
I've been banned for nigger and other dumb shit too
Josiah Rogers
Hey mod, you're a fucking nigger lmao.
Jose Kelly
Mod was probably a snownigger
Alexander James
I once got banned for talking about Japanese beer on /jp/. Namely Tsing Tao.
Still haven't figured out why, beer is pretty otaku.
Luke Adams
Tsingtao is Chinese beer though you dumbass.
Charles Wilson
I have a question for people more savvy at Civ6 than me.
I play with Barbarians turned off because I am a gigantic throbbing pussy who wants to simply pursue a Science victory. Late in my latest game a whole load of random Barbarian units, some being pretty fucking advanced, spawned and attacked Jerusalem, who was my nearest city-state neighbour.
Why the fuck did these guys spawn even though they were turned off from the get go? It wasnt a problem or anything, I sent some Modern Armour to crush them but I was just perplexed as to why they existed in the first place
Any thoughts?
Josiah Brown
Those are rebels, I'm pretty sure.
Jose Brooks
>otakus are all japanese Yeah, right.
Ayden Jones
barbarians are super fucking easy how big of a pussy do you have to be
Lucas Gutierrez
...well no, but Otaku culture is Japanese only.
Carson Perry
Not in Civ VI to be honest, depending on your luck Especially if you play on Marathon, you get insane shit like 2 horse archers every 3 turns when it takes you ten to create a warrior
Zachary Collins
As I said, a gigantic, throbbing pussy.
I just want my sweet science.
Parker Perez
>barbarians don't scale with game length >playing on marathon
Kevin Edwards
If they do, their scaling is kind of broken Mind you they're only 'hard' at the very beginning of the game because of how many there are, esp. if they spawn next to Horses or Iron.
Sebastian Morris
>Otaku culture is Japanese only Then why are they all speaking English in /jp/?
And where can I talk about Romance of the Three Kingdoms, then?
Levi Gray
>RotK /eagg/? Veeky Forums? Not /jp/ you faggot, lurk the fuck moar. Actually just Get Out of /jp/, don't have muh marisa image ready but imagine it.
Daniel Cruz
Who the fuck is Marisa?
Jason White
get out of /jp/ faggot
Lincoln Cooper
arr rook shame
Andrew Clark
>Found a (human) colony >Within year it's entirely populated by lizardmen
open borders treaty was a mistake
Gavin Collins
>no deportation edict
Zachary Miller
>where can I talk about Romance of the Three Kingdoms, then? /fgog/ :v)
Jayden White
Just like real life
Ian Moore
...
Jacob Morgan
>found colony >fully functioning and productive within a year >mistake
Hudson Reed
>agreeing to (((migration treaties)))
Kevin Hernandez
>can't spread your culture with taqqiya
Jeremiah Morris
Hey, /jp/ why is Yuuka so popular?
Carson Butler
Because she got raped by bugs or something.
Robert Kelly
fell asleep after I posted originally, but its because after playing dow 3 beta, it just feels like dow 1 but a bit shittier in some ways, a bit better in others it really isn't moba related at all. Some people said that but when they played the closed beta their opinion changed instantly. It has a ton of issues but thats okay.
Alexander Kelly
What's the deal with the gas giant dwellers? Do they keep using player's empire for taxi service?
Joshua Rodriguez
Hye /jp/, why is Hatate so hated?
Leo Davis
I have no idea what their significance is, but they're incredibly annoying. It's only like six or seven quests anyway.
Nathaniel Jenkins
Hatates gonna hatate
Isaiah Long
Because her butt is sexy.
Joshua Martin
Devs are shit at making fun events or an interesting diplomacy system, so they just make fetch-quests in a fucking grand strategy game.
Same deal with the Nomads. They ask to shit out their pops on a random planet and I say sure, and as soon as they leave I immediately enslave them, because the aim of the devs was just to poop an AI empire right in the middle of yours.
They really really really need a diplomacy system in Stellaris that isn't glorified "GIBS ME DAT".
Ian Gutierrez
>glorified "GIBS ME DAT". That's what diplomacy is in real life, so I think you're expecting too much.
Jackson Myers
>what is blackmail >what is spying >what is bluffing >what are favors >what is loyalty
Austin Robinson
>loyalty >tfw will never forget based automatons sticking with me right to the end in my first game of ES
they betrayed me the very next turn after winning but it's really cool that they aren't completely driven by this "player about to win declare war grrr" mentality, enough so they can stay loyal to the end.
Owen Cook
>they betrayed me If there's one thing I learned with strategy games, it's that the AI cannot be trusted.
Blake Brown
it wasn't until after I had won though, so they could be trusted, it was possible for their loyalty to exceed the bullshit win thing
Ayden Miller
I don't think so. It's just that Stellaris is crippled by the lack of in-game currency, and so you're just trading resources back and forth. That makes it impossible to parlay in any meaningful manner, because resources are capped and eventually the AI will have so much of them it won't care what you have to say about anything. Trading dies. So the late-game is just AI blobbing up into federations and then staring at each other.
Late game crises aren't an issue either when you can win by attacking immediately, which most AI federations do now. So dreams of having a long drawn-out decades long epic war aren't going to happen.
Thomas Taylor
So in short, others factions are just markets.
Joshua Long
>So dreams of having a long drawn-out decades long epic war aren't going to happen
War in Heaven seems to go forever
Logan Phillips
>TW mentioned last thread Let's just say it's not gs for the sake of the general remaining separate please.
Josiah Long
Markets that you can fight.
Anthony Carter
Really shitty market then.
Chase Hughes
How do I fix this?
Luke Young
>AI offering 1 for 1
This literally never happens to me and every time I try to suggest that myself they call it "Unacceptable", it's infuriating
Ian Martinez
>AI offers 1 resource for one resource ok >THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! Then why are you offering you dumb cunt
Christian Lee
Happens to me all the time in that game Probably because I am shitting minerals on early game harder than I have ever managed to do even on mid game in other games
>200 per month on 2240 I dont even know what to do with them, I dont have terraforming tech and my largest ships are destroyers that cost like 150 min
Easton Price
ded
Dominic Jenkins
>the post was about Civ >i only now realised
Eh Whatever to bump the thread I guess
Liam Scott
Thanks for the help faggots
Andrew Sanchez
?
Angel Richardson
what are energy credits if not currency?
Ryder Hill
What are you trading for tho? Ive never traded anything with the ai except tech in any 4x game ever
Easton Nguyen
>have too much energy, not enough minerals >buy minerals >need strategic resource to build certain thing >trade something you have in excess >need luxuries to get bonus
etc.
Jordan Cooper
My current financial planning is >stack up max energy credits through trading minerals >go to war >enforce peace just before going bunkrupt >repeat
I find it more efficient
Carson Gonzalez
Get more armies and you'll be able to win wars in half as much time.
Jackson Thompson
Just 3 armie groups >1 titan >2 space muhrines >2 xenomorphs >4 clone warriors
Madnuss Dont even have to wait for planet fortifications to go down
Nicholas Smith
>This thread is for all strategy games that do not have their own thread
Leo Harris
Is Civ 5 this slow to load or is it my toaster toasting
Aaron Davis
Modded Civ 5 is incredibly slow to load on single core computers and those running 32bit instead of 64.
Christian White
I'll take no.2 for 500, Alex.
Liam Perry
As far as I remember all civs were slow to load >i stopped on IV
Is V any good?
Juan Jones
no
Adrian Nelson
I mean apart from the Veeky Forums-we-hate-everything thing
I really liked the whole religion/civics thing on IV Did V moved more towards this direction?
Nicholas Morris
it didn't even include them in the base game
there's a demo, just try that
Camden Green
>it didn't even include them in the base game
I havent played civ for years and this made me mad
Carson Morales
>see that first encampment >shouldn't be a problem >rush my legions in >there is a second encampment right behind the first N-NANI?!
