This was years and years ago. Periodically the government goes on a witch hunt and seizes or destroys a handful of illegally imported skylines. Hasn't happened in a few years I believe.
In Florida it is easy to title and street drive illegally imported cars. There are tons of grey market imports here. I have actually owned a couple myself. Cops don't care as long as you have registration and insurance. I've been pulled over in my R33 7 times over 3 years without a single issue.
