This is what I thought so far. Besides, no monthly sub is a plus on its own.
Also, being actually rewarded for exploring(ie a good ammount of XP) is great. I just hope I didn't pick a good leveling claas that isn't shit on endgame(Necro)

The boost allows you to get a sort of trial-like experience before you decided to actually consume it.
