Have you ever tried making more varied foliage in any build yet? Found this thing in a thread from up above, apparently it's strange plants and whatnot, combined with actuated and painted blocks and walls.

From this I can see two things that you could add to your stuff without it being too much: some leaf/whatever walls for a more "3d" effect in places, and some plants going over the fences or beams so that they're visible behind them.

Yes, I would obviously hide them somehow though. I have this as a preliminary design, I discovered that they can be "hammered" by hammering the blocks around them but then you get a black background behind them.

Does anyone know what determines where NPCs will stand in their "house" by day? I know by night it's always the same spot, but by day my Mechanic just stands in the same spot 90% of the time, and it's a spot I'd rather not have her in.

No. By day, they move around randomly if they can.
It's weird, check this out, she stands here literally 90% of the time, maybe 99% even. She just walks to the left and right and then proceeds to stand there when she reaches the spot.
