This is blatant bullshit. They are just as fast and just as capable on the highway as a DRZ. More so because they have a wider ratio spread with 6th gear, smoother motor, better gas mileage, and stiffer front end.

You should never downshift if you're near redline.
The bike is fine to shift based on motor sound. It has tons of overrev anyway.

The bike is top heavy on the powerband and likes tro rev, if you want it to move with a purpose you have to spin the motor up. And it's more fun to ride that way.

as accurate as just about any tachometer, but you don't need one at all, and it's going to be retarded trying to read it while riding.

That the bike is easy to read based on sound alone even if you're riding it at high rpm, and it has a lot of overrev even if you do shit the bed on a shift.
You can hear and you can feel when the bike starts to level off on power at the top, and then you have about 2000rpm of overrev to play with beyond that. It really is about as idiot proof as it can be without flashing tach numbers in your face.
The guy has nothing to worry about and doesnt need a tach.

There's really no reason to rev it out that far. it doesnt make peak power near redline, only ever have to rev it to about 9500rpm to get as much acceleration out of it as you're going to get.
Then the 2000rpm to its 11,500rpm fuel cut is just an ass load of forgiving overrev or revs available for hauling ass on the freeway.
