Torque isn't going to make your vehicle accelerate faster. Torque isn't going to increase your top speed. It's literally just a requirement for moving a certain amount of weight, once you have enough then it doesn't matter unless you like to eat tires. And there's a subgroup of people in every fanbase that ruins the "image" of a manufacturer. See mustangs, cameros, WRX's, miatas, pretty much anything you might like.
